My eldest gd is turning 7. She wants me to take her, with her friends, to Wicked. I feel she is way too young. Would you take young children to Wicked?

Why is the title of this thread 'Birthday for a teen' if your GD is only 7? confused

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 17:35:57

And my eldest gs is turning 15, how do give him something as lovely as a trip to London with friends? He is a lad not interested in London trips with GPs.

Ana Mon 20-Feb-17 17:37:53

From the 'Wicked' blurb

Wicked is suitable for a general audience. As a guide to parents and guardians, it is recommended for ages 7+.

tanith Mon 20-Feb-17 17:39:37

Well if you take a look at the Box Office for Wicked they say not suitable for children under 7s.. what do her parents think? I would probably take my own grandchild at 7 but not other peoples children, if they did get scared would you be comfortable comforting them?

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 17:53:05

I think it's a poorly thought request, I'd prefer her mum deal with a play like Wicked.

A London play, for her, also makes my gs birthday difficult.

Riverwalk Mon 20-Feb-17 18:04:57

Why do you think your GD is way too young?

And, can a 7 year-old have a poorly thought request? confused

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 18:10:22

I think it's an intense play for a 7 year old. Her request didn't seem to have any thought given.

Ana Mon 20-Feb-17 18:12:45

She's barely 7...what do you expect? confused

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 18:14:34

I expected her to think before she asked.

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 18:17:42

Maybe I'm unreasonable to expect her to be polite. I don't think my GC should lack manners.

Riverwalk Mon 20-Feb-17 18:18:48

You, as her grandmother are on this forum asking for advice as to whether you should take her, yet you expect your very young GD to think before she asked?

I think you're taking the p*ss.

Ana Mon 20-Feb-17 18:21:41

I agree with you, Riverwalk. Time waster.

kittylester Mon 20-Feb-17 18:25:09

Buy her some new shoes in stead!l

tanith Mon 20-Feb-17 18:25:11

Also Wicked is very long 2hrs 45mins so you'd probably have to go for a Saturday matinee at 2:30 if you did take them. They also have lots of tour dates for different cities so you may not have to travel to London.

Riverwalk Mon 20-Feb-17 18:27:04

kitty you took the words out of my mouth grin

Was about to suggest new plimsolls would be more suitable!

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 18:28:28

Maybe I expected too much. I know I don't want to be used by a 7 year old.

I know, just tell her no, I was wondering if I was overlooking something.

Thanks for the responses.

Iam64 Mon 20-Feb-17 19:04:46

Hey Ana and Riverwalk, got it in one.
It's a relief for me because I struggled through the estrangement thread wondering about this - thanks smile

Jalima Mon 20-Feb-17 19:08:54

I wouldn't go with or without.
not my brew

NanaandGrampy Mon 20-Feb-17 19:36:27

'Used'??? Norah

She asked to go? Or demanded to go?

I'm confused ?

Cherrytree59 Mon 20-Feb-17 19:44:59

Its half term!hmm

Norah Mon 20-Feb-17 20:17:27

NanaandGrampy

"'Used'??? Norah"
"She asked to go? Or demanded to go?"

It sounded demanding, to my ears.

I know it's half term. What does that say about Birthdays? confused
