We look after our three year old great grand-daughter once a week and she has always been a sweet natured child. We had no 'terrible twos' but now she's three I wonder what you call the latest phases? Yesterday - Me "You're very argumentative today sweetheart" G g-d "No I'm not"!
We've been teaching her that it's not good to waste things - she has a habit of taking one bite of a fruit and leaving the rest. G g-d "Nanny I just wasted a plum and a banana, sorry Nanny"!

Ah - she's still working out the value-loaded nature of the word "waste"!

Mine managed to convince me the tiny broccoli florets were sleeping under the bed of mash potatoes and she didn’t like to disturb them…🤔

We,ve been waiting to have faux grass laid for what seems like ages 4 year old GD decided to take contro.I,ll paint it for you Papa she says,I,ll get a can of blue paint and and a can of yellow and we can mix the exact shade….she then took Papa out to walk the length of the area so she could calculate (her word) how many cans they needed.Thankfully she decided it was too much work for one girl.My GD,s keep me laughing every day

I miss those days, my gd was very argumentative and dictator like under the age of 5. I was always told where to park when looking for a space, usually that would be somewhere prohibited, then I'd be admonished for not taking it, and no amount of explanation as to why I couldn't park there would be satisfactory grinIf either of us tried to join in with her nursery songs she sang in the car, like "wind the bobbin up" or that God awful song from Frozen we generally got told "you're singing it all wrong, now I'll have to start all over again" Again any statement made would be met with a "no" and then suddenly, I can't remember when exactly, that all seemed to disappear.

Three year olds have their own logic, don't they? GD's reason for not having a bath was "I'm a cat. Cats don't like water."

My grandson aged 4 told his dad that the sun was too hot today so could he ask the man in charge of the sun to turn it down a bit.

We have a downstairs cloakroom and you have to pass right in front of it to get to the kitchen. Same grandson said on passing it to get a drink careful grandma it could be a TRAP!

I have one who suddenly seems to have become "wise" and "sneaky".
Dont want to wear socks that daddy said? Well I will try and hide them under a sofa!

Ha love it! My GSs are 12 one came out in the garden to say ‘Nanna I need to tell you something but I need to swear’
‘OK tell me’
‘Well Grandad is moaning again and I just want to say Shut the F* up Grandad’
I laughed so hard I’m going to hell

My little 'know it all' at her new Nursery School decided to correct her teacher who had said 'r was for rabbit' - whereupon madam told her 'no it isn't!, r is for rat!!"

Lesley60 Sat 03-Aug-24 11:36:03

My little 4yr old asked for something which I said no to, he said nanny I don’t know why you are saying no because you know you are going to give it to me I said why do you think that his reply was because I can tell by your face.
He won

Threenager!

pandapatch Sat 03-Aug-24 13:50:25

We have a threenager grandson!!! His favourite word is definitely.
His big brother came to me crying that the little one had hit him.
Little one "I DEFINITELY didn't hit O.
Me "Why is he crying then
Little one "cos I punched him"

I posted this on Facebook… 6 years ago (William would have been 5) it came up as a memory- still makes me smile…. William wanted to come to Nanna & Grandads... wanting to surprise Nanna with a visit... felt amused when William said “your child upset me!!!” Looked at him and said “what, Nannas child???” “Yes” said William, me “do you mean Daddy?” “Yes....“ followed by “we’ve come for two sleepovers.”...

My DD said to my 3 year old DGS "eat your carrots up, they make you seen in the dark".
His reply: "me don't need to, me got a torch"
He's always got an answer for everything, sure he's been here before!

Missiseff Sat 03-Aug-24 14:10:38

I told one of ours when he was three that I loved him as big as the moon. He replied 'actually, Jupiter's bigger' smile

My grandson told me he can't eat brocoli any more, because "I'm a diabetic ( he really is ) and it's full of sugar .
