Welcome to new members

Does anyone on here play World of Warcraft?

In South Africa grandmothers are called Gogos. That sounds quite good for a great grandmother.

Hi there. Grandma of 4 little ones here, all under 4. They're like buses, none at all then 4 in two years!
I work part time and look after my DD's little one a lot, soon to be 2 full days and a drop off to nursery on the third day. I've had him 2 days a week since he's been very tiny, just the days are going to be different now as my daughter has just qualified as a teacher and got her perfect job 3 days a week in a local school.
I must be getting old, joined yesterday and for the life of me I couldn't remember my user name! I can remember my phone number from when I was a child, my next door neighbours name from years ago, telephone numbers of practically everyone I know but can't remember a user name I made up yesterday. Is it just me? Lol

Welcome to the latest newbies .
GrandmaEngland, my memory is the same. I know all my father's old car numbers and Co-op share number, but can't remember much from recently. I have a mental block about certain names, especially of plants.
My GCs came along in a block of 6 in rapid succession, nearly grown up now.

My sister who has become a grandmother last year followed a family tradition of using fruit - my sons grandmother was Nanny Apples. My sister has chosen Nana Bananas.

I am happy to be Granny.

Hello, Sparkly if you have joined recently. I hope you are enjoying Gransnet.

Hello I am also new to the site and this is my first posting! Have been enjoying reading several different topics. I am Nanny which I love and always wanted to be, my two GS's have two other GM's one is Grandma and the other Nanna followed by her surname. It all helps when talking about any of them making it clear to the little ones who we are talking about.

Hello and welcome Bezzer52 . I am a Nanny too, although as the GCs get older it is often Nan. I always think Grandma sounds a bit too straight-laced for me! Glad you are enjoying all that Gransnet has to offer.

I am 'Granny' and DDIL's mum is 'Gran'

Hi from another new member.
I've recently become a gran for the first time, rather late in life as it happens. It's a magical experience but they're living abroad at the moment so thank goodness for FaceTime and Whatsapp for keeping in touch. I favour being called Grandma but don't really mind, it's just so lovely to be a gran.

I like grandma too grannyBingI haven't ever welcomed anyone on this thread because I thought no one went on. It was always the same name so I thought it stood still. Sorry * Shysal* letting you do all the meeting and greeting.

Welcome GrannyBing, you have years of fun ahead, albeit at a distance. I hope you will get to spend time with the family as often as you wish.
Thanks Stansgran, I would hate anyone to introduce themselves and get no response, so I watch this thread and check it every day.

Thanks Stansgran and Shysal.
I miss them with being so far away but you have to wish the young people well for taking an opportunity to work abroad. On the plus side DG has dual nationality, which is quite cool.
I see there's a thread on long distance grannies which I'll take a look at.

Hi. I'm fairly new. Been trying to get to grips with the site. So I'm in Burrelton, Perthshire. Anybody near me?

Welcome Carol1ne73 .I hope you soon get acclimatized. We have lots of members living north of the border, but not sure how many are in Perthshire. I hope they will introduce themselves soon.

I won't be a granny until January 2017 at the age of 65, I thought I'd see what I was missing! I'm thoroughly enjoying all the different topics

Maybe I should have introduced myself sooner. I am the proud granny of O who is 3 years old and R who is 5 months. My passion is gardening, and now that I am retired from lecturing I indulge myself.
There are so many subjects that interest me, I am happy to be a frequent reader and commentator.

Hello Irma, and a belated welcome to Pollengran . I am glad you are enjoying the different topics. We certainly are not all grandparents and there is plenty of variety on Gransnet for all.

Just discovered I'm an expectant great granny, due February!! My own lovely grandmother was always called Greatie by my daughter and we still refer to her as Greatie. I'm happy to be called that or anything else! At one time I was Nan to my Midlands GC and Granny to my London GC. After a few days together they'd all swapped over, except for the smallest who called me Franny anyway!

hello Everyone
I joined yesterday and have only just plucked up the courage to put something on here. It seems like an friendly, interesting site and I think I will find some common ground with all you other grandies. I am a Grandma to 4 lovely little girls so we have a lot of pink!

Thanks shysal! It's a lovely site to pop in and out of

Hello all. I've been a fairly regular "lurker" for a while, thought it was time I joined in. I live north of the border, am quite recently retired and have 6 grandchildren between 2 and 14.

Eirel, snap. We found out on Wed, that we also are to become Greatgrandparents in Feb.

Welcome Salmo and MaggieMay60 I hope you continue to enjoy GN. We already have a MaggieMaybe so be prepared for some possible confusion!
Congratulations to the soon-to-be great GPs. How wonderful!
