This kitchen will be ready for those who care to share...smile

MawBroon Tue 31-Jan-17 12:17:37

Thank you Izabella
I see what you mean. Who would have thought central Wigan could be so rural? grin
Well I hope the Kitchen is not "under new management"? It would be like going to your favourite tearoom and finding it had been bought out by Starbucks!

Miserable day again here. My flea-bite-is is improving but I seem to have started sneezing and sniffling again.
Can you get hay-fever in January? Or am I perhaps allergic to all this stuff everywhere on US politics?
Bah humbug!

Greyduster Tue 31-Jan-17 13:22:53

MawBroon if you're like me you can get hay fever all year round! I never seem to stop sneezing. I think air pollution has a lot to do with it. When we are away from built up areas it doesn't seem so bad.

thatbags Tue 31-Jan-17 16:34:43

Soop texted: "Bags, no frigin hub connection AGAIN!"

Very annoying!

thatbags Tue 31-Jan-17 16:39:34

soop asked after Georgie dog so I've sent her some news from jud's post yesterday.

NanaandGrampy Tue 31-Jan-17 16:54:32

Evening all!

Had an ironing mountain to tackle this morning and this afternoon we have been swimming with your Cooper. The gym boiler is fixed and it was the perfect temperature . He raised a smile in the changing room as he stood naked on his towel and shouted 'poof me Nana' !! He has a little talc on his creases as he's a devil for not letting us dry him properly .

Charlie your lodger is a little minx with her scratching . We have been lucky with Sam , he was never much of a chewer . Many years ago , our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy ( weighing all of 5 stone at 6 months) ate her way into the cupboard storing her food !! Grampy was suitably unimpressed.

In terms of toilet paper Corner , Cooper is very capable of wrapping his mate Sam up and denying all knowledge so maybe we won't ask him for his origami input smile .

Chatsworth , at least outside, sounds very scooter friendly Kitty . I'm looking for some new locations to take my camera. It sounds lovely .

Glad to see you pop your head in ann sorry life continues to be as grey as the weather.

I agree Maw our kitchen is perfect as is !

jud , grateful for news of Georgie , is there a longer term plan yet ? Or are you still playing it day by day ?

Well, I'm off to get dinner sorted , tomorrow we have my eldest daughter and her family dropping in for bangers and mash for dinner. Stevie ( aged 6) has requested chocolate sponge and custard for afters!!

See you all tomorrow x

callgirl1 Tue 31-Jan-17 18:10:03

Phew! So pleased to have found the kitchen at last, thought we`d been banished into the ether!

MawBroon Tue 31-Jan-17 18:16:20

I have felt distinctly unsettled today not knowing if we had a Soop's kitchen or a KFC or a Starbucks.
Familiarity and cupcakecupcake a common ethos makes this corner unique and a safe haven
We all know where we are coming from and extend that safety to refugees from more, shall we say, "rigorous" arguments discussions.
Hands off our Kitchen!

cornergran Tue 31-Jan-17 18:30:42

Looked for the kitchen earlier but couldn't find it. Pleased to have tracked it down, just hoping for the same management. It all feels more than a bit out of our control. Probably just grumping. The dentist and I survived my visit, couldn't wait for the solid face to wear off until it did. It hurts sad - need an ouch emoticon. ? This one might do. In any case, I'm off to sit in a corner and feel miserable until the next painkiller. Happy to accept any available sympathy, Mr C is runing out now grin.

Judthepud2 Tue 31-Jan-17 19:02:29

Totally sympathetic to you Corner. The pain from my abscess is only just easing off now. Take the painkillers and keep warm! I'm for the dentist again on Thursday for root canal treatment. Eight! NHope your pain eases soon.

Saw Georgie again today. I have a video but don't think we can post these on GN. She had just finished having hydrotherapy and the nurse said one of her back legs seemed to be moving a little, which is progress. She has also started to squat a bit to wee when taken outside.....although during our visit as she slid round on her front legs she left a little damp trail behind her ?. So much more like her old lively self.

Judthepud2 Tue 31-Jan-17 19:04:01

*eight? What? Autocorrect taking over again. I meant eugh!

cornergran Tue 31-Jan-17 19:10:07

Thank you jud, just had the next dose, should have a less grumpy hour or two, Mr C is smi,img again. I think about your Georgie all the time. She's a real fighter and it's wonderful progress continues. You must be worn out with it all. In case I forget tomorrow good luck for Thursday, hope it makes you much more comfortable.

Greyduster Tue 31-Jan-17 20:29:49

jud, sounds like a wee bit of progress for Georgie. Sending her good vibes. I think I am coming out in sympathy with you toothache grans!! I'm trying to ignore it, but it's getting to be a big ask sad. DH has a smug look on his face - he is always calling me the dentist's pet, because I always have a clean bill of health and he always gets sent to the hygienist to get poked about, although he looks after his teeth better than me on the whole.
N&G I am looking forward to swimming with GS again. We always go when he is here in the holidays, but our pool has been closed for a big refurb since the end of November and won't open again until March which may be too late for half term. It'll have to be Ponds Forge, which I hate.
Soop if and when you get connected again, tell McS I can't seem to get my mind off his snazzy braces wink!

Crafting Tue 31-Jan-17 20:44:07

Why are we in a cafe? Are we the kitchen in the cafe, do we have to do the washing up shock. Does anyone know why we've moved?

Charleygirl Tue 31-Jan-17 21:07:31

Also we never paid for coffee and cakes before- do we start now? There is a huge difference between a cafe and a kitchen and I much prefer the kitchen. Animals are not allowed in cafes, and the multitude of animals that we know and love are each welcome in the kitchen.

Tara has not come home yet so I am getting a tad worried. She has been out since early morning. I do hope that she is okay.

Crafting Tue 31-Jan-17 22:43:46

I'm with you Charlie our kitchen doesn't belong in a cafe. It's a special place.

Hope Tara is back in with you soon.

callgirl1 Tue 31-Jan-17 23:05:33

There probably isn`t the same view from the café either. Wonder what Soop will make of it?
Charley, I hope Tara is back by now.

merlotgran Tue 31-Jan-17 23:17:00

I don't often pop in here but you need to play your trump (sorry about the choice of word) card!

You can't' have a kitchen in a café that not only welcomes cats and dogs but allows them to lounge around on the sofas, cushions, throws etc.

The shortbread, cupcakes etc., need to be covered at all times and has anyone checked the tiling behind the sink?

What are those wellies doing by the back door? Tut Tut!

The fridge will need temperature checking at least twice a day.

With a bit of luck you will spectacularly fail the Health and Hygiene Inspection.

Good Luck!

cornergran Tue 31-Jan-17 23:23:26

Well, if it helps I have a heap of stale scones I can leave along with some almost out of date cream. Thanks merlot. grin.

grannyqueenie Tue 31-Jan-17 23:37:52

Cafe...kitchen, I'm confused which sadly doesn't take much! Today I drove to an unfamiliar retail park to collect a birthday present for a granddaughter. I also bought a couple of little things in the toy shop which I popped in the little foldy- up bag I carry with me. Put the big box in the car but took the little bag with me as I went off to explore the other retail opportunities. A while later I set off for home but then needed the loo so stopped off at another shopping centre en route and of course found myself popping into another couple of shops! I got home eventually only to find I hadn't got the little foldy-up bag and had no idea where I'd left it. Phoned various shops but it hasn't been handed in. Ironic isn't it, I drove miles to get something at a cheaper price and in the process lost stuff worth £9 and my useful foldy-up bag too. Very cross with myself.
Glad to hear better news of Georgie, hope the toothaches get sorted for Jud and greyduster and that soop gets reconnected soon. Night all!

callgirl1 Tue 31-Jan-17 23:51:24

When Soop is reconnected, let`s hope she can find the café that her kitchen`s been transferred to.

Greyduster Wed 01-Feb-17 06:17:19

Hello kitcheners. I have been awake since stupid o'clock - no not with toothache (it is not keeping me awake yet!) - with everything from mortality to birthday cakes and back again!
callgirl that very thought had crossed my mind! I don't like having to hunt around for the kitchen and the "good morning" thread (which now seems to have turned into a good afternoon and good evening thread - I hope that people are going to maintain the protocol that no-one posts before Michael12 unless he is away. I know it's probably silly but there is a kind of comfort in it and I don't want to see things go completely to pot).
GrannyQ you are lucky that you have sorted your GD's birthday present out! It is two weeks to GS's birthday and we haven't a clue what to get him - in spite of having asked him endlessly he hasn't come up with anything, and DD has put an embargo on more Lego and video games. Inspiration, where art thou?

MawBroon Wed 01-Feb-17 07:35:51

Endorsing everything you say greyduster, but sorry to hear you have been tossing and turning in the process.
I don't know how old your DGS is, but an activity is (IMO) always a good present. Out 2 little men (6 and 5) were given an indoor skydiving experience for Christmas to take at some point in the year. Or it could be ice skating/indoor skiing/ cinema/outdoor activity play place plus a suitably unhealthy lunch somewhere like Nando's for him and a friend or sibling. Gave younger one who is actually quite gifted artistically a HUGE box of felt tips, crayons, paints etc plus 2 equally huge colouring in pads for his fifth birthday, cheap as chips at Staples. Went down well.
Good luck!!
Got to grit my teeth and get up sad now as the car is being collected first thing to be serviced while we are at DH's cardiology appointment in London today, much rather stay in bed! zzzzz

NanaandGrampy Wed 01-Feb-17 09:32:59

Morning all !

Nice afternoon swimming with young Cooper yesterday . He's fearless and certainly gave me a run for my money , jumping in without warning. But its lovely to see and we swam a whole length ( with his armbands on) . So now its time to start deflating them wink ( I wish I could deflate my waist so easily !!)

I feel your pain Corner( I have empathy - as per the other thread !!) I loathe the dentist and know I need to go but rarely force myself through the door until I'm in pain.

Glad to hear you are seeing little improvements in Georgie Jud I hope they keep coming so you can take her home .

Crafting I don't want to be the café in the kitchen ( and I'm definitely not washing up that's what Grampy is for) I want to be in soops kitchen {sad}

Hope Tara eventually sauntered back in Charley, that cat has a more exciting life than me !!

Exactly Greyduster protocol what what !! I too take some comfort in things staying the same - not everything needs to be changed .

Well I'm off to the salon for a pedicure and then prep for dinner and some time with my daughter and her family.

Good luck with DHs appointment Maw

Charleygirl Wed 01-Feb-17 12:30:41

Thanks all, Tara eventually came home just before midnight. I had left the door from hall to living room ajar so that she would not have any problems. As you can imagine, by then all sorts of anxieties were going through my mind.

She was drenched, made a little miew to let me know she was home and settled down to dry herself at the foot of the bed. No histrionics this am to get out, retired to bed but I had to leave at 8.30am and came home a few minutes ago and she had left. Hopefully she will return earlier tonight and not give me panic attacks.

Greyduster Wed 01-Feb-17 12:54:17

We had a cat that used to do that from time to time charleygirl. We would spend hours walking round calling her and then she would stroll in a couple of days later with a "what's all the fuss about?" air. We lived on the edge of a disused air field with old empty buildings and she might have been anywhere. She never looked hungry, that's for certain! hmm. Glad your Tara is home!
