Popping in to share the news that Georgie is coming home on Saturday. She is improving very slowly but still not much use of her back legs. Very chirpy though and dragging herself around with gusto. I was taught how to express her bladder. Made a bit of a mess of it. More practice needed, I think. Have bought a load of puppy pads, dog nappies and vet bed. And of course lots of treats! She will still need ongoing physiotherapy. So hard work ahead but it will be good to have her home for lots of cuddles.

Glad to see you back soop and hope your tech problems have been sorted permanently. We don't like to lose you. Especially when the removal people come in.

Lona I hope that your health issue is sorted well and quickly with no nasty after effects. Rooting for you. And for everyone else struggling with health problems.

Bellanonna Thu 02-Feb-17 18:40:11

Lovely to see you back soop. What a beautiful swan picture. Loved grannyqueenie's granddog too.

Lona Thu 02-Feb-17 18:50:55

Jud that is such good news! It's amazing how quickly animals can adapt to injuries. I'm sure Georgie will come on in leaps and bounds (literally I hope) once she is home sunshine

Good job that lemon drizzle is the 'family' size wink

Charleygirl Thu 02-Feb-17 19:00:42

Jud delighted to hear that Georgie is coming home and hopefully she will improve each day. She will love all of the cuddles she will receive once she is home. Poor little mite.

MawBroon Thu 02-Feb-17 19:02:41

jud that is lovely news and I hope the beginning of little Georgie ? 's full recovery.
There are some stressed people at the moment - remarkably patient and forbearing, but lack of sleep does rather take the stretch out of our knicker elastic does it not? IYSWIM
I would personally like all the extraneous buggerations removed/sorted/reversed, there are enough troubles in our lives.
(And if anybody has even glanced at the political threads please form an orderly queue behind me to run screaming for the hills!)
Lona wishing you well, remember our shoulders are broad if they are needed.
Love and peace ❤️ + ✌️ to all.

Greyduster Thu 02-Feb-17 19:05:27

We've all been there, corner, so don't feel ashamed. I have been through his with GS, who until recently was the fussiest eater on the planet. Only perfect people never lose it! She'll eat when she's hungry and she won't be wasting away! Sending you a {{hug}}.
Your doctor sounds like mine, Lona; she doesn't leave things to chance either. Keep your chin up flowers.
jud you sound as if you're going to have your hands full, but how wonderful to have Georgie home, where I am sure her recovery will make better progress for being with the family again. Keep us posted.
We just had a lovely beef and veg stir fry I made for tea, with egg fried rice, and I am still hungry!! So I'm going in search of goodies - I'm sure there's a bit of choccy somewhere.

NonnaW Thu 02-Feb-17 20:44:10

So pleased to hear the good news about Georgie! I keep reminding myself when our two get under my feet etc how awful it would be if anything happened to them.

Fully agree with the feeling out of sorts after a sleepless night, I've had two bad nights on the trot so have been feeling rather prickly today.

Glad IT problems have been sorted out soop, I feel it must be a full time job for you keeping up with us lot (you were so welcoming when I eventually plucked up courage to come in instead of peeking through the windows!

Good luck to all those with health problems, hope you get them sorted quickly.

When I get some malt extract tomorrow I'm planning on making some malt loaf so will drop it in for sampling!

Izabella Thu 02-Feb-17 21:12:45

Crafting if you enter throught the back door hitting the 'I'm on" button you will not have to read through the unwanted header.

Pleased to see soop that you found your way back . Blowing a hooley outside. I bet some trees are down again in the morning. Sleep well everyone.

rosesarered Thu 02-Feb-17 21:27:10

thatbags would you send me your scone recipe please? smile

Crafting Thu 02-Feb-17 21:36:26

Izabella thanks for the tip. I have tried it but I still come in at the top of the page with all that waffle confused

Fantastic news about Georgie Jud. I bet you can't wait to give her a big cuddle ??.
corner just opened another bottle blush. Let's sit and have another wine. Plenty for all who want to join us. smile

cornergran Thu 02-Feb-17 22:09:38

I'm here, crafting. Been having a nap by the fire, another wine is most welcome. Thank you greyduster. It did shake me up a bit. I keep repeating 'and this too will pass' - but when? Usually it rolls off me, but not today. Will do better next week. Maybe grin.

So pleased for Georgie and of course you jud, guess there will be challenges but how wonderful to have her home. Love malt loaf nonna, will be back for some

I'm off to sleep, you should too, crafting. Nice though it is here. soop will be charging us for b&b smile. Keep warm and well everyone.

grannyqueenie Thu 02-Feb-17 22:41:38

Pip the pup is basking in all the compliments, she's always happy to have new admirers! Jud glad to hear news of Georgie, hope she begins to get more movement now she's at home.
Thank goodness for lovely GPs lona, hope you're able to relax a bit now you know you'll be checked out sooner rather than later. Easier said than done I know .
Don't give yourself a hard time cgran, picky eaters are very trying and can bring one to the brink....she confesses rather blushblush shamefacedly!
Love the swan soop, they always look so graceful and those sunsets...beautiful smile

MawBroon Thu 02-Feb-17 22:47:00

Was it my lemonade scone recipe you were talking about?

Jalima Thu 02-Feb-17 23:34:02

I haven't tried the scone recipe yet MawBroon because I am on a diet.

But when I have lost the required amount of weight it is on my list of Things To Make! (with jam and clotted cream of course).

smile

Swanny Thu 02-Feb-17 23:40:16

jud so happy for you that your little one is coming home. I'm sure things will progress well from now on - there's nowhere like home and your own bed eh?

It's been a traumatic week for various reasons but here's hoping we all have a calm day 'tomorrow' - whenever that comes. Thanks for being there kitcheners xx

MawBroon Thu 02-Feb-17 23:48:32

If you cut out the clotted cream they are practically slimming ! grin

callgirl1 Thu 02-Feb-17 23:49:09

Baubles, what a pretty little girl!
Lona, nice picture.
Grannyqueenie, what a cutie of a dog.
Lovely to hear that Georgie is going home, it`ll probably do her more good being back in her own home with the people she loves.
Soop, great to see you back, are you staying this time? Lovely photos as usual.
I`ve had a man here tonight to see about having central heating installed. I`m using my backdated pension money to get some jobs done on the house before it falls down, starting with a new roof, fascias and guttering, then central heating, because outside of this room, the house is a veritable ice box. My daughters think I should have a new kitchen as well, but I don`t think there`ll be enough money left for that, may have to make do with new worktops instead.

Jalima Thu 02-Feb-17 23:56:34

MawBroon
low-carb dahling
Although clotted cream is out pro tem.

cornergran I brought up a fussy eater, from the word go she worried me; well not so much fussy as just disinterested (unlike me). She now grows her own veg and is much more interested in food!

Jalima Thu 02-Feb-17 23:57:32

or should that be uninterested?
Probably both

MawBroon Fri 03-Feb-17 00:11:23

Yep, scones, clotted cream and jam seem to be ruled out on just about all counts (except perhaps salt?)

MawBroon Fri 03-Feb-17 00:18:50

Good for you callgirl I did something similar when I retired on the basis that a) it wasn't going to get any cheaper, b) the money would dwindle away in dribs and drabs c) if you don't do it now, there will never be a good time and d) make yourself as comfortable as you can while you can. My parents never had proper central heating in their North facing Scottish stone cottage, but wasted money on storage heaters which cost an arm and a leg to run, triple glazing, gas fires but still FROZE and the house always felt damp. Why did they not instal central heating? Too much upheaval.
You could always just have New worktops and/or cupboard doors in the kitchen to update it if you wanted. Why do the young always insist we need "new" kitchens etc?
What about your bathroom though? Ease of access to a properly powerful shower plus good heating make life much pleasanter! Worth the upheaval any day.

callgirl1 Fri 03-Feb-17 00:26:28

MawB, we had the bathroom turned into a wet room just over 2 years ago, it now needs heating, it`s known here as the ice box!

cornergran Fri 03-Feb-17 08:26:23

That all sounds good, callgirl, there's a lot of sense in being warm and comfortable. We made similar decisions when we moved here, no regrets so far.

Feel almost human today, the benefit of a full nights sleep. smile.

Lona Fri 03-Feb-17 09:03:49

Yes, good for you callgirl. There is nothing quite as miserable as being cold at home. Make yourself a cosy nest sunshine
Who mentioned scones? I can't resist a fresh scone with jam and loads of cream! I'm out for lunch today but I'm not allowing myself any sweet stuff at the moment, just wine
Hope you all have a good day smile

Lona Fri 03-Feb-17 09:04:45

Corner glad you're feeling better today xx
