You nag? Never!!
The house next door, where nasty old git lived, has been empty for 4 months now. We started hearing sounds of work being undertaken yesterday, this morning I thought they were going to come through the bathroom wall! A rather nice man knocked on the door to inform me they were doing work next door, I said I`d heard them, lol! Apparently nasty man left the place in such a bad state they`re gutting it, putting in a new kitchen and bathroom, removing all carpets because they`re wet and rotten. He said they`re putting on a new flat roof at the back, and as it adjoins our flat roof, the council require them to have a form signed by me giving consent for them to do the work. I said we didn`t do that last year when ours was done, didn`t know we had to, but it`s a bit late to worry about it now.
Lovely pic of Flynn, by the way.
N & G, hope you`re soon well again, ready for the next lot of germans to come along!

grannyqueenie Fri 03-Feb-17 18:52:08

Well done on mastering that task Jud, hope your lovely dog gets home as planned
Ann, nice to hear from you, no wonder you popped in today you must have been giddy with excitement about your good fortune shock! Nothing like a windfall to lift the spirits, good job you have sense of humour!
nana I know just what you mean about the choice thing with feeding grandchildren.
Me: I think maybe it's teatime soon
GD (age 4 at the time): OK granny, what are my options? hmm
soop I can't get in our attic either, the old boy assures me it's not too cluttered and very tidy up there, do I believe him...nope!
Flynn looked like he was really enjoying that swing maw 1st of many I'm sure

grannyqueenie Fri 03-Feb-17 19:00:37

Lots I could/should have done at home today in preparation for some of the family coming for the weekend but it was dry and there was a bit of blue sky so off we went for a jaunt. Mr Sainsbury may be providing the cakes this weekend!

Bellanonna Fri 03-Feb-17 19:00:47

She's gorgeous Jud. All the best for the time to come.

Charleygirl Fri 03-Feb-17 21:12:33

I agree, Georgie looks so happy. I only hope that her rear legs start working soon. That was a great achievement today. Georgie will be so pleased to see her own home tomorrow.

I am very proud of my empty loft!

cornergran Fri 03-Feb-17 23:51:11

Georgie looks so happy, jud, can imagine the excitement when she arrives home. I'm not sure if I am more impressed or envious of your loft Charlie. When we moved here I said nothing was going in the loft, but where else do you put the Christmas decorations and far too many suitcases? Now if we had a garage they could go in there, as we haven't the loft it is. No hope here grin.

callgirl1 Sat 04-Feb-17 01:22:49

Lovely pic of Georgie, she looks so happy, bless her. You`ve got a job on your hands, but there`s loved enough there to help you cope.

Charleygirl Sat 04-Feb-17 08:46:39

corner I am a miserable old git so do not do Christmas decorations.

I live in a modern house, the architect was obviously male, no cupboards and ate takeaways, small kitchen for a 3 bedroomed house.

The staircase runs from the living room upstairs, I hate it but at the time could not afford anything else in London, so I had a cupboard made there. It is almost walk in and that is where I store suitcases and one hoover. The remaining 3 are in the 3rd bedroom. Please do not ask! I am trying to empty that cupboard but it is a thankless task. I do not have a garage and to date I only keep gardening stuff in the shed.

I took the 6th and last large black bag to charity yesterday but there will be more- I need a short rest once the builders leave today.

cornergran Sat 04-Feb-17 09:09:07

Modern houses have their pluses, ours is older but still has a tiny kitchen and a frankly odd layout charley. I am so impressed by your sorting, I think you should allow yourself your cupboard contents, then I could just re-name our loft a walk in cupboard hmm. Three hoovers upstairs? One for each bedroom? I'm imagining Tara hoovering, one must be hers grin. Our 'don't ask' are the five sheds of various types, four are Mr C's province. I am responsible for a small one with garden tools. The others? In the main I have absolutely no idea, Mr C guards the contents and I'm not allowed to sort them out. Finding anything seems to involve much muttering and huffing. They are around the side so not visible from the bungalow, easy to ignore. smile. Mr C promised to sort them in the Spring. He just didn't say which one. grin.

Charleygirl Sat 04-Feb-17 10:19:36

corner if I am truly honest I have 5 hoovers upstairs. One is a robot with 3 legs and I think is beyond repair because of its age. The other is a fairly new robot but birdbrain has forgotten where the equipment to plug it in is. Another is the working Miele cats and dogs for upstairs so that the downstairs lighter Miele stays downstairs. Another is a cheap hoover I bought on line, bagless because I was going through a miserly phase stating how expensive hoover bags were. The last is a G Tech Ram which I inherited from an aunt who died but I was not given the charger so it is a fat lot of use.

The only type I do not possess is a handheld one so maybe!

MawBroon Sat 04-Feb-17 10:36:35

I have a theory based on the number of products under my kitchen sink, but could equally apply to gadgets.
"The less I like doing a job, the more products/gadgets I have to do it"
That applies to window cleaning, grass cutting (I now get a man in but used to have 3 mowers plus a strimmer) hoovering - a big Dyson too heavy to lift in the garage because DH bought it when he was working in Poole and renting a flat, the Miele Cat and Dog which is good but the cost of new bags practically comes to the price of a new hoover and the cordless Dyson Animal6 which lives upstairs and whose novelty has not quite yet worn off. I also have at least 5 different types of silver polish, countless brass cleaners, assorted furniture polishes and right at the back, a box of Oven Pride (?) oven cleaner. Oh and at least 4 pairs of Marigolds.
All as they say, virtually " untouched by human hand"

cornergran Sat 04-Feb-17 10:48:30

I just love our cordless Dyson. It lives on the wall inside the kitchen door, snuggled up to the fridge, so easy to get to and it eats anything. Sad or what?

MawBroon Sat 04-Feb-17 10:58:41

I have just (again) had to rescue Grace from behind the sofa. You can get round the back from one side, but not out the other end. Think man in a lorry with a Satnav stuck down a country lane and nowhere to turn and you get the idea. She hasn't learned reversing , her back is too long to turn and all she does is faint pathetic whimpering unti I get there and pull the sofa out. I usually block off one end with a waste paper basket but it had got moved.
No idea what she wanted round there. Dumb doggie, but MY dumb doggie.?

Charleygirl Sat 04-Feb-17 11:13:48

Grace just wanted some peace and quiet, that is why she chose to rest behind the sofa. I am surprised that she has not learned to reverse but she is a tad long in the tooth to learn now.

I am going to have to stop this hoarding of cleaning stuff. Under the kitchen sink is jam packed. Half of a shelf in my wardrobe is full and the fitted wardrobe goes the length of the room! Tara's bedroom also has a fitted wardrobe and there is also a multitude in there.

When I see a bargain I buy and years ago I broke my ankle, was unable to drive for 3 months so was grateful then for my hoarding. I have enough dusters to clean every house on the Mews where I live.

Greyduster Sat 04-Feb-17 12:25:53

Maw your analogy of a lorry stuck down a country lane reminded me of the real thing when we were on holiday a few years ago. An artic stuck on a tight bend trying to get into a small fishing village. He had followed his sat nav and not the sign at the top of the hill telling him not to use that road. Couldn't move one way or the other, and lots of people, us included, trying to help but probably making things worse with contradictory advice! He'd only been in the job three weeks and he was terrified he was going to lose his job if the lorry got damaged, which it did! We had to leave the scene before they resolved the problem but he was gone when we returned. I'm glad it proved easier to get Grace out!

soop Sat 04-Feb-17 12:45:53

The perfect way to start the day...a beautiful photo of the kitchen's very own wonderful Georgie. My goodness, she's a tough cookie. I'm thrilled for you, Jud* and all your family. Best of all, I'm thrilled for Georgie. It's hang out the bunting time. grin

soop Sat 04-Feb-17 13:10:36

granniequeenie I really like the photo that you've shared with us. Where was it taken?

Charleyg I'm counting the days to my next "clear the cupboard foray"...the bedroom floor is almost finished. Just a few tiddly bits to attend to. I shall then polish and vac and empty all the wardrobes. After which, I shall polish and vac (again) and stand back with an insane grin on my face.

corner I tittered out loud when I read your post. I shall show it to MacS, he who has promised for the umpteenth time that, when he has time, he'll sort the loft space and take "stuff" to the dump. Every time he tells me that he has a plan...I nod, wink and tell him that I love him. Aww!

MawB You are a very funny lady.

A funny but true story. When we lived in the countryside in Cornwall, I would walk the very long and winding lane into the local village where I worked. On one occasion, I turned a corner and was met by a flock of sheep.Oh! I thought to myself, they've escaped from the field. I therefore attempted to be helpful and started to shoo them back along the lane in the opposite direction. There was a lot of bleating and baa-ing and lots of sheep do-dah on the tarmac. After an age, a flustered shepherd threaded his way through the flock, a Collie dog at his heel. It appeared that he had been moving his sheep to a field just beyond our home. Thanks to my interference, the flock were heading back to where they had started. blush shock wink I was only trying to help.

soop Sat 04-Feb-17 13:17:54

The wood flooring is beginning to look smart. Finishing touches being dealt with this afternoon.
Second image is of Rory as he waits for his lunch in the kitchen.

Scotland v Ireland at Murryfield very shortly. Come on SCOTLAND!

NanaandGrampy Sat 04-Feb-17 13:19:06

Just popping in !

I bet you're pleased to have the lovely Georgie home jud . How is she settling in?

I'm back off to bed to complain loudly suffer in silence !!

Back later x

Charleygirl Sat 04-Feb-17 13:22:20

0h dear soop not your best day attempting to move the poor sheep. You were not the shepherd's new best friend.

The builders should be finished today. They will be returning to do another large job but I need some time mentally and financially to get my head around it.

Tara and I will enjoy a lie in tomorrow in a warmer, safer house.

MawBroon Sat 04-Feb-17 13:35:59

soop you? Or you?

<ducks behind sofa, oh no, Grace has beaten me to it!>

Judthepud2 Sat 04-Feb-17 13:42:22

Well she's home! A bit over excited at the moment. From being a quiet dog she has become a barker. I think she was a bit spoilt in the hospital. Vet said to keep her enclosed to prevent her getting drag sores so I had a lovely area closed off with bed, bowls and toys. She sat and howled until DH gave her a tennis ball. ? She has now pulled the place apart. Excitement is making her wee everywhere. But her leg movements are definitely improving. We have a long list of physio exercises to do with her every day. You may not see me on here for a while!

soop Sat 04-Feb-17 13:55:32

NanaandGrampy Best place for poorly people is in a comfortable, warm bed...being waited on hand and foot.

MawB I am well and truly flattered. Such a graceful laydee. wink

Jud Welcome home dear Georgie. Enjoy lots of very special pampering. Us lot are extremely fond of you.

baubles Sat 04-Feb-17 14:39:39

So glad Georgie is home and you're able to take care of her.

whitewave Sat 04-Feb-17 14:45:04

jud just like us she'll do better in her own home and recovery will speed up.
