nanaandgrampy don't panic. I reversed mine low carbing. It is hard to get into initially, but becomes easier with practice. The alternative is not worth contemplating. Have a look on the low carb support thread. It's very comfortable in there too!!

Sadly , no Charlie I haven't lost any weight . Maybe my medication needs review - I'm ever hopeful !

Sometimes in life we have to go into 'keep going mode' but it does cause both physical and mental problems to contend with and I am sorry you are at such a low ebb. You are a poster we shall all wait to hear from again , if and when you are ready.

If any of our doctors said that to me, N&G, I would be outraged, considering how many of the non-GP staff in the practice are overweight - one or two of them grossly - including one of the nurses! Let's hope your doc's having a good day!

One of my neighbours has a curmudgeonly GP and is always bemoaning the fact. The rest of us keep telling him to change to another surgery but for some reason he won't ... I think he's worried a new GP may send him for all sorts of tests and find all sorts of illnesses, whereas his current one apparently keeps telling him 'What do you expect - you're an old man now'

Oh I'm in trouble !!

How you might ask?

weeellllll........ I have type 2 diabetes which I manage quite badly sometimes. I do try but there are times when it all gets too much and I'm less than good.

I had my fasting blood test( which I do twice a year) on Monday and this afternoon the surgery rang to tell me in light of that the doctor wanted to see me at 12:30 sharp tomorrow.

Given that you cant get an appointment inside 2 weeks normally even if you are dying ....I am taking this to mean my blood test is bad.

Now usually, I have a lovely lady doctor who berates me in the gentlest way and I go away motivated to try harder.

BUT tomorrow I am meeting the curmudgeonly one who will tell me off loudly then tell me' You're a smart woman work out how to lose weight ( I quote )'

I shall come out wanting to dive into a family size bag of doughnuts !

I'm depressed just thinking about it.

Nellie, I love that picture of your GS. He is what my MiL would have called 'bonny' which, I found out, meant chubby in her Yorkshire parlance whereas in Scotland it means good-looking. Anyway, your little lad is both, though once he gets on his feet the baby chubbiness will melt away.

For the moment, I'm going away to attend to a few pressing jobs. ann's ongoing weariness has finally come to a head. I'm hoping that she will read ALL the supportive messages. I shall return.

I am sorry , I didn' t mean to say anything to make out that I am worse than anyone , the point. is when I got help the relief was great . The District Nurse is a source of help with toilet mishaps , for example . I would have put this in a PM but have no idea how , ohdear digging a hole here !!

Ann I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I hope crafting's lovely post, and the good wishes of others, have comforted you a little.
Please get help. If your DH had cancer you wouldn't think twice about having specialised care at home or from a hospice.
You shouldn't be struggling alone with this.

nellie what a gorgeous little chap. I remember when my GS looked the same. Now there isn't an ounce of spare flesh on him; he runs like the wind, eats like a horse (when the fancy takes him!) and never seems to feel the cold.

I stood watching two cats opposite our house squaring up to each other; every inch of fur fluffed out to the max, each trying to out stare the other! My money was on the grey one, and sure enough, before long, the other one slunk off into the shrubbery. At least they weren't taking lumps out of each other!
