All ready for business...pull up a chair smile

Elegran Sun 12-Mar-17 15:28:50

Is it because it is twitter that soop can't play it?

wot Sun 12-Mar-17 15:30:48

Whilst weeding, I fell through the septic tank cover! Luckily my arms were on each side of the hole so I could pull myself out! Partner told me off for standing on it. I'm okay.....just glad I didn't go head first!

Elegran Sun 12-Mar-17 15:31:26

That needs fixing!

wot Sun 12-Mar-17 15:38:04

Just going to look on ebay for a replacement! I'll cover it over in case any animals walk near it (including my Sophie)

Charleygirl Sun 12-Mar-17 15:51:25

wot I am not sure if Sophie is on my long list of animals who need to be re-homed to mine where they will be cherished and safe. The poor soul is not safe living with you.

corner my idea of a day off is not clearing out the kitchen, cleaning the cupboards and refilling them. The one good thing is that the table is too heavy for me to move- such a shame as I cannot reach 50% of them.

soop Sun 12-Mar-17 16:03:00

bags I tried to play the cat video by using GN link. Still the same message pops up. Most irritating.

soop Sun 12-Mar-17 16:11:08

wot I stood on the cover to our septic tank just a few days ago. It rocked. I beat a hasty retreat. Best you get a new cover. Oh yes...isn't Sophie a beautiful creature. If Charleyg had her way, she'd have a house full of creatures "in need". Have any of you been following the lovely programme on Thailand? A lady has rescued orphan elephants and also some that have lived a hard life working in the tourism business. I wanted to join her in her sanctuary. She can sit amongst all her charges and they pet her. They follow her around the jungle compound, which is vast. Wonderful!

soop Sun 12-Mar-17 16:12:09

should read...cover of our septic tank. blush

wot Sun 12-Mar-17 16:17:45

Charleygirl, you can have Sophie twice a week!
The septic tank cover was bent in the middle....Crikey, I'm only eleven stones! Anyway, Peter said it was blocked so he's playing with his rods now! The joy of rural life.

thatbags Sun 12-Mar-17 16:19:15

Oh, how annoying that you can't play the video, soop. You'd love it and so would macS.

wot Sun 12-Mar-17 16:20:20

Soop, my brother and sil are in Thailand at the moment. They sent photos of an elephant sanctuary over Viber....it may be the same one!

thatbags Sun 12-Mar-17 16:22:22

Oh my goodness, wot!! ?

We can't find a lid for our septic tank. We're not even sure it has one, nor that it is actually a septic tank. We think it's actually what is called a total soakaway and nobody seems to know anything about these nowadays.

wot Sun 12-Mar-17 16:32:14

Oh yes, I think soakaways are pits full of rubble type stuff and can't be emptied but a septic tank has to be emptied every one to two years by a large tanker type lorry. Always have to be aware of having too many baths, washing machine loads etc not to mention not putting wipes down the loo. Damn nuisance, they are!

soop Sun 12-Mar-17 17:59:31

bags isn't it a buggeration too far. We've tried umpteen times to play the video.
A soakaway is a system whereby effluent gradually seeps into the surrounding ground. Our septic tank discharges into the soakaway. You learn something life enriching every day...wink

soop Sun 12-Mar-17 18:01:13

wot We have no mains water supply. Our water travels some distance from a holding tank in yonder hills.

soop Sun 12-Mar-17 18:04:12

I shall bid farewell to one and all. My Bombay Sapphire gin with ice and elderflower tonic is about to be poured.

Thank you for your company. smile moon

Charleygirl Sun 12-Mar-17 18:48:06

wot if you did not live so far away I would be there in a flash- Sophie looks gorgeous. A good job that she was not outside "helping" you today.

I think that I will remain living in London as I could not cope with septic tanks or really anything rural as I was brought up in the back of beyond and could not get away fast enough to the bright lights in those days, Edinburgh.

cornergran Sun 12-Mar-17 21:36:11

Goodness, wot, gardens can be dangerous places. Think I'm safer with mains drainage. Be careful out there all you rural folk.

Keep hoping Bracken will make her way back, soop, she may make it yet. Cats are mysterious creatures.

I had hoped you could have some down time today, charley, you must need it. Hope all goes to plan tomorrow, it's time you had some better luck.

MawBroon Sun 12-Mar-17 21:41:08

I have had a lovely visit to DD's new house in Birmingham today, enjoyed celebrating her birthday (yesterday) SIL's(Friday) and mine in advance (tomorrow) but of course best of all was being with the little ones who are growing up more every time I turn around!
Littlest DD and SIL were there too from London, but not DD2 because the journey would have been too much for little Flynn. However, his temperature is down and DD thinks he just looks as if he has a bad snuffle. Tonight may tell, though.
It was a struggle for DH and he wasn't able to do "the tour" of the house as it is on 3 floors and quite rambling. They will have a level of chaos which charleygirl would understand for the next few years, but have the advantage of lovely tradesmen whom they know and trust plus a reliable "Project manager"
Shattered of course even although the journey all went smoothly and we were back before it was fully dark (makes a difference)
So sad to hear you are fearing the worst for Bracken, Soop, might she have reverted to life in the wild (maybe with a little friend)?
Night, all.

Charleygirl Sun 12-Mar-17 21:57:20

Maw it sounds like the perfect day with Flynn on the mend and being able to see more of your family and the *new house. Good also that you arrived home almost before it was pitch black outside. You had the rest of the evening to cuddle Grace and relax.

Maw from the sound of the size of their house I do not think that I would want to heat the place.

Tara has enjoyed her day indoors I think and like me she will be pleased when we have returned to some kind of normality.

corner I did next to nothing today- the kitchen mop has gone AWOL so I could not do any cleaning of the new floor. I watched mindless TV this afternoon with Tara. earlier I felt like meeting them at the door tomorrow with a knife in my hand. I went into the second bedroom to discover the net curtains and ordinary curtains crumpled in a heap on the floor. I have enough to wash without adding those to my very long list. I also found my portable video player lying on the floor. I had popped it into a drawer on Tara's bed but I expect it fell out when the bed was manhandled to make way for the men laying new flooring. It had better work or it will be added to the list for replacement. Sheer wanton destruction.

Charleygirl Sun 12-Mar-17 21:59:21

Sorry I did not mean to continue the first sentence in black type or however one describes it.

I will try and get a photo once the kitchen is finished.

Crafting Sun 12-Mar-17 22:45:50

Might not get into the kitchen tomorrow as I have lots of shopping to do so will take the opportunity of saying Many Happy Returns to Maw for Monday. ????? Have a lovely day. smile (any leftover cake more than welcome) grin

Charleygirl Mon 13-Mar-17 07:09:22

Happy birthday Maw please have a restful day with DH and Grace.

MawBroon Mon 13-Mar-17 07:18:29

Thank you! Just wanted to share this thought as I like it (feeling thoughtful as you do on a birthday) xx

kittylester Mon 13-Mar-17 07:43:22

Many happy returns Maw. I'm glad you got to see the new house. Take it easy today.
