Here we are again...
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.

Make yourselves comfortable. I shall pop in later with a few treats.

Good afternoon, soop and all kitcheners! Love all the photos, folks, lovely landscapes and happy grandchildren alike! Keep them coming.
I feel better today, having left off the medication altogether yesterday, but I am going to have to try and get hold of the GP tommorrow, even if it's a telephone consult. And yes, N&G, draining just about sums it up! Happily, thanks to DH's ministrations, we are not going to have to replace the bedroom carpet as I couldn't even manage the eight feet to the ensuite blush. Nothing phases him and I don't know what I would do without him. All I did was cry - not a lot of use to anyone!
We have just been out to watch GS play football, not far from here on a lovely pitch - not like the muddy quagmire with no facilities that is our home pitch! We did not cover ourselves in glory, but the boys played their best and were just outclassed.
I love the sentiment on your paper cut, N&G.
A bit of light gardening for me today and a late lunch of roast chicken.

Good Morning all !!

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums here! Lets just take a moment to give ourselves a pat on the back. We did it !! We had them, raised them, mothered them , did our best , sacrificed, saved them, endured and survived smile. That has to be an achievement !!

I bring lemon drizzle cake ( my new discovery...I know I know !! Have I been living under a rock you might ask?? ) .

Good to see positive news of Georgie Jud I bet you are thrilled.

The puppy sounds like a winner Ann. Glad lunch went well. I think you need to be buying more small treats for yourself , even if it is just anchovies !!

I shall dispatch the chaps forthwith soop they did an excellent job. Of course the wading through of the boxes is ongoing but we did send our daughters home yesterday with boxes of their school stuff !!

I love the photos - it was a glorious sunset.

Grey I think you are probably right that the tummy upset was a side effect of the medication. That's a horrible thing to happen and quite draining....oh that is so not the word I should have used wink Hope you're feeling a little better today !

Glad you're back Retro - I did a paper cut today - you might need it on your wall... it says :

Be who you are
Say what you need
Because those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind .

Welcome Tippy champagne is ALWAYS welcome !!

We had a lovely trip out to a farm shop on Friday and then a wander round a new garden centre - oh we know how to live ! Then yesterday we had an impromptu visit from everyone , the sun shone and I had a lovely time ( I hope they did too!) , I've added a picture of the Queen of the Universe - where did those 10 years go. And one of all the little ones squinting into the sun - bad Nana !!

Enjoy your day one and all !

Morning All. Sunny again. Whoopee. ? So sorry everyone, haven't all read the messages I missed. Will try to do better. blush. Indeed, Flynn does get around. A well travelled and well intentioned young man.

Some lovely photos on here, wouldn't dare post one of our garden. Sounds as if you have given yours a good tidy, retro, good to see you back. Bit of light weeding for me today then a meal cooked by our granddaughter. She's 11. Loves to cook but I suspect Daddy will be helping as this menu is a bit ambitious.

Know what you mean about the heartstrings. It's possible one of ours will be moving, work needs, nothing definite yet so I'm not letting my head go there. It may not happen.

Hope that leg is mending soop. Please take care. That digestive upset sounded horrid greyduster, do hope all is well now. Looking forward to your ultimatum bringing a conclusion charley, You and a Tara deserve some normality.

MawBroon Sun 26-Mar-17 09:48:45

Flynn has been let off bringing mummy breakfast in bed as she is on her way back from Sweden later today. I did feel for her - waits so long to be a mother and then misses Mothering Sunday sad
However her card (with a greyhound on it )

"First Mothers Day I can finally appreciate what you have done"
❤️❤️❤️❤️

MawBroon Sun 26-Mar-17 09:45:33

Poor Tara -animals hate upheaval - usually with good reason!!

Charleygirl Sun 26-Mar-17 09:38:04

Young Flynn gets around for one so young. He is always bright eyed and bushy tailed. My main list is dogs and cats with Grace topping my longish list but I may make an exception and make an addition.

Tara does not appear to like her new bedroom, the single one. She has slept on my bed since the single bed was moved to that room. Also she has not used her litter tray so that is a bonus if she is using the great outdoors.

MawBroon Sat 25-Mar-17 21:38:11

While this Granny was "head down, tail up" on her knees weeding the borders today somebody was enjoying meeting up with his auntie and great auntie on a march in London! smile

grannyqueenie Sat 25-Mar-17 21:14:58

Which is just why we're in Yorkshire and not London or Scotland, that way we're nearer to most of the DGC and their mummies and daddies !
No mattter how old they are they still tug at my heartstrings ❤️

Jalima Sat 25-Mar-17 20:06:26

Too far from the DGCs and their mummies and daddies
that's the thing, we would like to go back to the coast but as DH says 'that dream has passed'

Jalima Sat 25-Mar-17 20:04:51

Galen I nearly stole one from outside Waitrose the other day, not a Pomeranian but a very cute fluffy little dog, tied up outside and shivering, looking for love. However, it did have a coat on so I thought it must be loved, anyway DH was there and he would not let me steal it!! grin

MawBroon Sat 25-Mar-17 19:45:56

Hawick is just down the road (in a manner of speaking) from my childhood home in the Borders. Love it dearly, but could I go back to live there? Too far from the DGCs and their mummies and daddies sad

Galen Sat 25-Mar-17 19:33:00

This lurgy is still lingering, but much improved.
I would love to have a little dog. A Pomeranian is what I'd really like. It'd have to be already house trained. If anyone knows of one going begging , please let me know!

grannyqueenie Sat 25-Mar-17 18:46:12

Maw we drove across via Barnard Castle and Alton, all on minor roads, towards Hawick, where we are staying for 3 nights. Although originally from Scotland we lived in the south for 40 years so trips north were always about getting a car full of children to visit family in Glasgow by the shortest/quickest route!! Now living in Yorkshire with time to spare we can meander our way up. Stunning day today so some lovely sunny riverside walks.
Greyduster as someone with a badly behaved digestive system at the best of times I feel your pain and sympathise with your blushes! Some asthma medication once did the same to me, I was in a busy shopping centre with a massive queue for the loo and it was a very close call via the disabled loo!!
On a brighter note it's been a beautiful sunny day and we've been enjoying our mini break. Fancy walking in sunshine with no coat on in March and in Scotland!!
Must go my old boy is keen to wear me out get out again before it gets dark

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:52:11

That should have been - SLAINTE!

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:51:11

Tippy22 What on earth do you mean? This 'ere kitchen is for all who enjoy a friendly atmosphere and the occasional cupcake and wine. If you've something to celebrate...we are happy to congratulate you. If you are sad or feeling under the weather - we are here to listen and offer what support we can. So, Tippy22 I shall raise my G&T at six o'clock sharp. Slaint! As they say in bonnie Scotland. wink

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:46:28

retrolady I happen to have two art deco Champagne glasses. Let us virtually sit in the sunshine, in the garden, looking out over the sea and sip our bubbly. Now, that's what I call, a plan. You are very welcome to join us lot whenever the mood grabs you. I can reassure you that you will not be bullied. We do not allow such rudeness.
As for the blokes...they do seem to like little hideaways. MacSporran lurves his untidy potting shed. He doesn't appear to do much in it. I think he likes to stand and stare and that's perfectly okay with me. smile

I'm away for the rest of today. Happy, peaceful good wishes to every one of you.

smile moon

Tippy22 Sat 25-Mar-17 16:44:34

Being a relative newbie on Gransnet wasnt too sure if i should be in your kitchen but there's still a bottle of champagne on ice if anybody is interested. I think I've had a little too much. I think my family and friends have got the wrong idea of me. Hic ..'scuse me.

retrolady2 Sat 25-Mar-17 16:16:37

Thanks soop. Yep, I think I am going to have to develop a thick skin. Just taking a break from the gardening, phoned Himself to see when the hell he is going to stop playing golf and come to help me when the tip closes, as I got a little carried away with the pruning. Saws were necessary; it developed into that kind of pruning. I blame Monty Don. He encouraged me last night on Gardener's World yesterday. (Crossed out to avoid misunderstandings). Anyway Himself said he'll be home "soon," and the tip has already closed for the day. Ah well, I can get out there and take out some more of my frustration on the shrubs do a bit more, with a visit to the tip tomorrow. That's Himself's job. The tip is a mysterious place somewhere up the other side of town, where men seem to hang out on Sunday mornings ... not for the likes of me. I don't understand all the different queues and I'm not going to try to. That's a blokes job ... apparently. wink
From reading through the postings, while I have a break, I can see that lots of you haven't half been going through the mill. I'm so lucky (crosses everything), I'm reasonably healthy with only the usual minor sniffles and aches. I won't go through your individual posts now, but can I just wish all of you good luck, strength and the expertise of whoever is looking after your health.
Thanks for opening the kitchen door after I took fright and ran. I'm back for keeps now.
By the way, I heard rumours about champagne? I don't normally drink, but I will make an exception in that case in the interests of being friendly. I don't have proper champagne glasses, so will an ordinary one do? Or even a mug?
See you all soon. xx

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:15:34

Boc is seated on the heap of building rubble just above my head. I've a much better image somewhere.

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:14:15

I planted the heather while we were living in the caravan on the building site. A peacock used to help me. I shall look out the photo of Boc the peacock. I have one somewhere.

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:08:21

Today's photos taken in our garden.

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 16:03:45

retrolady Once upon a time I was very like you...sensitive to a fault. I stay in this kitchen because I feel free from harassment. I no longer venture into places where I might feel uncomfortable. Simples! Glad that you're back with us. Don't overdo the gardening. It is a wonderful day. I'm about to have the shin dressing changed. Should be fun! shock

ann Grandson's new puppy begs to have a portrait painted in watercolours. When I am next preparing to wear my arty farty hat, I shall maybe ask for a photograph by which I can be inspired. grin

soop Sat 25-Mar-17 15:54:37

Oh what a beautiful morn-ing, oh what a beautiful day, I've got a wonderful feel-ing, everything's going my way...tra la...

Charleyg Ultimatum given. We all await a positive response and no more shilly-shallying. Or else, it's mops and brooms and dusters galore as us lot march to music and lend a helping hand.

granniequeenie Your photograph is delightful. I share the sunset that I promised would be colourful. So it was.

annsixty You deserved your treat. I hope that there will be others to enjoy in the not too distant future.

Greyduster Your "digestive disorder" must have left you feeling like a wet rag. Poor you. I sympathise. When I had a similar experience it was before we came to live in Scotland. I'd had anterior/posterior/ventral suspension surgery. Was given powerful drugs that sent my bowel into overdrive. Had a ghastly session in the bathroom of the private hospital. Tried to clean up after myself, slipped on the wet floor, hurtled towards the bath taps and pulled one almost off the bath. Damage wasn't too great but I was thoroughly embarrassed by the entire misadventure and couldn't stop apologising. blush.

annsixty Sat 25-Mar-17 14:57:45

He is a cavachon Charley they are all besotted with him.
He has cried both nights but no shortage of "mums" rushing to cuddle him.
My GS got home about 10 this morning and fell in love with him immediately. That is going to be one very spoilt dog.
Sorry to hear about your episode Greyduster it must have been very distressing for you. Get to the GP as soon as you can. Reflux is awful without any hassle over treatment.

retrolady2 Sat 25-Mar-17 14:45:30

Hi Everyone, Just popping in to say I'm back. Took myself off Gransnet for a bit for several reasons ... spending FAR too much time on it being one, my paranoia worrying too much about what others say and think being another. My mum always used to warn me about that - not what others say, but worrying about it. Normal retro service is now resumed.
A quick visit this time to re-establish contact. Just off outside to do some heavy duty gardening in the sunshine. I'll come in again later for a chat.
