N&G if you feel like doing a double, I'll turn a blind eye. Bought a dozen bedding plants this morning for the back garden. Put the rest of the shopping away, went outside to find DH finishing planting them at the front!!!!! "I didn't hear you properly!" What's new?

Charleygirl Fri 02-Jun-17 14:23:38

The only thing one can say Greyduster is that at least he planted them somewhere! When I was married I do not think that my ex was aware that we had a rear garden- the grass cut itself and the plants magically appeared- not that he saw any of them.

N&G I think that I would have a machete to hand! Perhaps it is just as well that our gun laws are so stringent here.

Hello everyone. It's only me - I've been missing for a while childminding and trying to cheer up a friend. Don't think I managed the latter. She is suffering from anxiety I think, so does she. Her GP doesn't seem to get it. confused

You have all been so busy.

I hope soop has landed safely and is having a good time. I hope everyone else has enjoyed their trips out.

I'm jealous of the Ladybower visit GD. It's been one of my favourite places since my father used to take me and show me the church spire sticking up out of the water - which is an odd thing to like really!

Presumably you have brought back the same number of people as you had to start with corner and with all their limbs!

N&G, it's a good job that I'm not married to your DH as we'd never get anywhere. I'm afraid I do all those sorts of things. blush

cornergran Fri 02-Jun-17 20:25:24

Mission accomplished. Both returned to their parents complete in wind and limb. Bit of an odd day though. One absolutely loved the Caves, interested in the mining history and enjoyed the general atmosphere. The other definitely didn't hmm. It was - in any order you choose - too cold, too dark, scary, boring, silly, tiring, freezing, hot (!) and repeat every three steps. Until we got to the shop then everything was wonderful. Very proud of Mr C who held firm and refused to spend more than £1! Don't you just love 'em? Still, a 50% success rate isn't bad. grin. Moved on to Tintern, which was a success, particularly as it came with a huge piece of chocolate cake. All ended well and no broken limbs - or neck grin. Their Mum made them scrambled egg when they got back. Looked good to me but apparently not as good as mine hmm. We beat a hasty retreat. Feet up now with a glass of chilled white. Good end to the day smile.

Plan a gentle potter in the garden tomorrow. Enough excitement for a while.

Baggs Fri 02-Jun-17 21:08:09

The Soops are back home to the welcome of an 'ecstatic' cat. soop sends her love and says it was "THE MOST WONDERFUL WEDDING!" smile

Baggs Fri 02-Jun-17 21:10:09

Admiration from me, cornergran! A well-earned feet up, I reckon ?

Charleygirl Fri 02-Jun-17 22:39:52

cornergran I agree a 50% success rate with no broken limbs was a good day out, especially as Mr.C managed to get away with spending so little. Has he any tips?

Instead of pottering around the garden tomorrow, why not take advantage of the sunshine because it is supposed to be a lovely day- who knows what the weather will be like on Sunday and next week? You can potter when it is colder outside and I am certain that you will not have to wait long!

Delighted to hear that Rory was happy to see the soops home again and so pleased to hear that it was a fabulous wedding.

grannyqueenie Fri 02-Jun-17 23:05:43

50% success rate is good enough for me cornergran, especially as you all got home safe, sound and accident free. I reckon Mr C should do a fact sheet aimed specially at us kind hearted aka gullible grandparents who find ourselves unable to resist a pleading look in the gift shop!
Good to know the soops have returned home safely after their travels.
We have our youngest daughter visiting with her newish boyfriend. He seems a really lovely man and it's looking more and more likely that he might be "a keeper". I'm trying so hard not to ask too much or get over excited about it all, but I couldn't be happier for her.
They're spending time with 2 of her sisters and their families tomorrow. They've not met him before and the youngsters aged 8 - 10 have all been warned to not ask when they're getting married or otherwise embarrass their auntie! Knowing these 4 giddy kippers as I do, I would say the chances of our daughter having a red face at some point in the day are pretty high! blush shock

cornergran Fri 02-Jun-17 23:08:59

Charley, I think it was 'the look' from a certain very fed up grandmother that did it..... grin.

oldgoat Sat 03-Jun-17 13:07:27

Looking forward to seeing some sooper photos of the fabulous fascinator soop
Bet that Rory was pleased to see you both. How were the windmills?
We've just been to collect DS''s cats from the cattery. Have you ever tried to get two reluctant moggies into the same cat carrier? I expect that OH''s scars will soon heal.

grannyqueenie Sat 03-Jun-17 13:18:23

oldgoat grin just off to collect our daughter's dog who is not going to add anything to the BBQ they're all going to, hopefully no scars will be involved!
We enjoyed having our youngest daughter and her lovely new man here, they seem very well suited and comfortable with each....it's definitely a resounding "yes" from us!
Enjoy your Saturday everyone sunshine

NanaandGrampy Sat 03-Jun-17 13:47:23

Afternoon all!

We arrived safely after a horrible journey yesterday. It too over 2 hours longer than expected , nearly 7 hours in the car!!

The view is lovely from our holiday home and we have all settled in. I e attached a couple of pictures .

You'll be pleased to know Grampy made it ( just)! Oh no Kitty ! My sympathy to your DH smile

The day sounded wonderful Corner . Glad soop and macs got back safely , can't wait to hear how it all went.

Happy day everyone x

Sorry to cast a damper on things and I am truly delighted for all the good news but I have just heard of the (peaceful) passing of a very special, lady, my dear aunt Eileen who I treasured as a confidante, friend and "surrogate mum"
She was a source of such support and pleasure to my parents in their latter years and my last link with my home town.
I often think "What would Eileen do" and will miss her more than I can say.

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:06:09

Ta da! Wow! Wooppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! What an experience.
It is good to be able to come into our kitchen after some time away. It will take a very long time for me to catch up. So much is happening right now but I just needed to say hello and tell you that all is better than well. grin

I intend reading all your messages. It may take some time to absorb all your news. In the meantime...we've had a ball, and I'm still buzzing with excitement.

The wedding ceremony was held in a garden setting. The lady who conducted the ceremony was perfect for the occasion. A blackbird sang his heart out. The sun was hot. At one a.m. we were still celebrating outside by lantern light.
Lauren was a beautiful bride. Her new husband is so right for her. Erik's family welcomed us warmly. We met so many lovely friends...the ushers were pals of Erik from primary school days, some 25 years of friendship was gleefully celebrated.
Lauren and Erik are honeymooning in China. Erik's parents have a home there and in Rotterdam.
We flew from Glasgow to Campbeltown on a small plane together with 16 other passengers. It was such a treat to see Scotland from the air. Rory purred and meowed and skipped around our feet. It was a marvellous "welcome home" ...and, if you don't mind, I need food!
There will be countless photos. I shall share just a few from time to time. Wouldn't want to bore you. wink

I shall away to select a few photos. Back soon.

PoshGran Sat 03-Jun-17 14:17:05

Maw - So sorry to hear your news. Gentle thoughts to you & perhaps Christina Rossetti's poem "Remember".

Greyduster Sat 03-Jun-17 14:20:39

I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt, Maw; it must have been a blow, but if her passing was peaceful that is all any of us can ask at the end. ?
N&G it doesn't take the youngsters long to find their feet on holiday does it? Lovely photos! The horrid car journey will soon be a distant memory and you will all enjoy yourselves! (Be nice to Grampy!).
Looking forward to soop's wedding pictures! Thanks for the update, baggs.
DD and her menfolk brought me a lovely dressed crab back yesterday from their few days away in Whitby, so I ate it for my lunch today with a glass of white wine. It was delicious and cheered me up, as we went for just a short walk this morning and the pain in my leg that I had a few weeks ago and thought had got better has suddenly flared up again, so I am hobbling once more. One minute I am walking normally, the next it's as if someone has put a knife into my calf. It is beyond a joke.
corner we could take lessons from Mr C too. I am usually the one who sets the elastic sided budget, but DH is putty in my grandson's hands!

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:27:24

Maw Forgive me for chuntering on about the wedding. It wasn't until I had posted the blurb that I saw that your much-loved aunt has died. Sending you a very gentle hug.

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:29:54

There are far too many photos for me to view right now. Here are a few that I've downloaded to share with you.

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:31:54

The father of the bride...my second son, together with his big brother.

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:33:29

hmm forgot to add photos.

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:34:20

confused Didn't think the photos had uploaded. blush Sorry!

soop Sat 03-Jun-17 14:47:46

just one more...for the time being.

oldgoat Sat 03-Jun-17 15:40:42

Lovely photos soop . Was that a sprig of Scottish heather your handsome son had in his button hole? Love your fascinator, too.

oldgoat Sat 03-Jun-17 15:49:26

maw So sorry to hear about the loss of your special aunt, not only the the link with your home town but her memories of your parents generation. Good that her passing was peaceful.

MawBroon Sat 03-Jun-17 16:06:50
