Here we go again...

Greyduster Sat 19-Aug-17 19:19:09

corner I think that was grannyqueenie's GD, but if she were mine, I'd be darned proud of her too!

cornergran Sat 19-Aug-17 19:26:18

Oops, off to hang my head in shame blush.

cornergran Sat 19-Aug-17 19:27:05

Sorry grannyqueenie. Suppose I did get the first letter right!

Greyduster Sat 19-Aug-17 19:27:44

Please don't!

annsixty Sat 19-Aug-17 19:35:25

We do have a lovely neighbour and I am very appreciative of her, she is the one who was widowed in May and took me on a sleepover in Harrogate, she is a brilliant friend.
I so enjoyed my G&T but sadly my H is losing it by the week.
No aggro, just not relating to life which is dispiriting, depressing and irritating to me in equal measure.
No big deal I adjusted to it some time ago, it just makes me sad.

grannyqueenie Sat 19-Aug-17 19:51:57

cornergran I'm happy to let anyone bask in the reflected glory of our littlest's climbing grin I couldn't do it either, I think she got these little legs from her granny, it was hard enough watching it and wishing her to the top!!
Thinking of you Ann as you see your man disengage with life, that's hard stuff to manage and a lonely place too. flowers
Your poor daughter n&g not the best start for a holiday. Hope things get better for them all. Some of ours are camping in the Dales this coming week, if all else fails they may end up relocating to us!

Jalima1108 Sat 19-Aug-17 20:02:21

MawBroon what a great idea re the slices of lemon and lime!

I may even get back on to G&Ts and you can all pat yourselves on the back! I was enthused after a trip around Bombay Sapphire Distillery but the enthusiasm ended when I got home again.

cornergran I think that our neighbours may regard us as the 'elderly couple who have lived there since the year dot'.

The wind is whipping up the waves. I wouldn't care about the rain as long as I could see the waves - fat chance where we live now.

MawBroon Sat 19-Aug-17 20:08:38

I entirely blame present company as I raise a glass on G&Aromatic T to you all!
(Hattie may be a tonic but so is this little chap, currently in Cornwall )

Jalima1108 Sat 19-Aug-17 20:15:27

What a dear little chap! I shall be seeing mine soon although he is a bit bigger than that now!

Cheers (with rather passé Chardonnay but I don't care, I like it). wine

grannyqueenie Sat 19-Aug-17 20:28:02

Cheers everyone, I'm on a very zesty pink grapefruit gin myself!
That boy is gorgeous maw

Charleygirl Sat 19-Aug-17 22:28:24

MawFlynn always is and he is so bright.

I am so pleased that Hattie is really settling in to her new abode, she deserves a lovely home.

I also am not a fan of monsoon weather so she is not alone.

I gave myself an early birthday present and that is one reason why the electrician was here- he was setting up my Amazon Echo and as he was here, I asked him to sort out my new tablet. Maybe Christmas crept in and I did not notice.

Queenie that young tomboy (girl) is a very good climber.

A pity that Tara will not allow me a lie in to play with my toys in the comfort of my bed.

Hello everybody. Just popping in for a quick visit. Life has been very hectic lately what with holidays and Gransnet meetups. We have the GSs for a few days this week. We've hardly seen them this school holiday so I'm really looking forward to spending some time with them. Younger GS is 10 tomorrow so we are off to his birthday tea. We are giving him a voucher for Go Ape in Dalby Forest. You have to be 10 and 140cm tall before you can swing through the tree tops. He's a bit of a daredevil so I think he will really enjoy the experience. Not sure whether I want to go and watch, though.
That looked to be a very tall tree that grannyqueenie's GD was climbing!

Are your GD's in-laws staying at the campsite at Muasdale soop ? We visited the Glen Scotia distillery in Campbeltown and OH has a bottle stashed away in the cupboard for special occasions.
Hope they find a house in York. They seem to be selling very quickly at the moment.

callgirl1 Sat 19-Aug-17 23:29:05

They`ll be hard put to find a better place than Muasdale to camp.
Glad that Paw is still holding his own, and that Hattie is getting nicely entrenched into the household. Lovely pics of the gorgeous Flynn.
I bought some new slippers in town today, size 6, brought them home, cut off all labels and threw all the bits, including the receipt, into the bin. Put them on, they felt a bit (?) big, looked again, I`d read the size upside down! My daughter says take them back anyway, but I won`t, they were only cheap, I`ll just get another pair next week. Anyone in need of a pair of size 9 slippers, hardly used?
I also put on a new kaftan I had delivered the other day, my first ever. I ordered a size bigger than normal, to be sure that it was a loose fit, but walking in town I felt like a bag of spuds in it, then a nice lady said to me "You do look nice in your pink." Cheered me up no end.

callgirl1 Sat 19-Aug-17 23:31:22

PS, meant to say, I`m not au fait with those sizes, what translates into a size 6?

cornergran Sat 19-Aug-17 23:34:45

Usually 39 callgirl - or I think it is. Head has disappeared today, will reclaim it tomorrow grin.

NanaandGrampy Sun 20-Aug-17 09:44:42

Morning all !

Fully recovered from our sleepover with Jackson. He is growing up so fast . For the first time he declined a favourite programme on the TV saying - no that's really for babies Nana !

Love the tree climbing picture GrannieQueenie !

Isn't it funny how nothing days can be tiring Corner?

I love technology !! I've ordered the campers a new fridge ( early birthday present!!) and it will be delivered to their tent on Tuesday! Now that's what I call service. Until then , kind fellow campers have all offered a little fridge space as has the shop. Nice people.

Flynn is growing fast Maw , what a delight he looks. We got our first photo of our young friends baby - Finley. I've added it so you can all have an awww moment smile . I am rushing to finish his baby blanket for our first visit tomorrow .

Well , I am off for a lazy day except for some crotchet and crafting. Grampy has a skip to fill and Sam has some car practice time coming his way !!( Not driving - sitting quietly!)

Sam has quite a few tricks but he had a miserable fail yesterday. I could hear Cooper saying' Paw Sammy' as I came into the lounge but had to laugh when I realised Cooper was expecting a back leg paw ! Sam had a resigned look on his face as if to say ' Darn kids' !!

Have a good Sunday one and all xx

I posted on a thread yesterday about sharing photographs on social media including GN.
While I wouldn't go against parents wishes ,I was the only poster who seemed to think this was overthought. We would have been denied some wonderful photographs of delightful children on this thread.
The ones yesterday and the new baby today being my case.

MawBroon Sun 20-Aug-17 10:35:17

What a sweet baby!
I am glad you feel that way Annsixty (and others) what a dreadfully suspicious agecwe lve in, let's not givebin toit!
My contribution this morning is also on another thread, but I gave it such a BORING title, I would be surprised if anybody opens it
Here goes
"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom friend of the maturing sun"
The hanging baskets still unplanted
What is the point, the summer’s done
The best laid plans, the good intent
The patio still unpowerwashed (enthusiasm spent)

Where are the burnished limbs I planned
The sun kissed locks
And maybe even fitting last year’s frocks?
The linen shirts, the cotton tops
Hanging by the unworn flip flops

And all those plans of summer meals, of Pimms
And the kettle BBQ on wheels
A lawn like carpet, green and smooth
And then we get another pooch

Well never mind.
We Brits are hardy
Now where did I put
Last winter’s cardi?
grin

annsixty Sun 20-Aug-17 10:38:28

?

MawBroon Sun 20-Aug-17 11:04:00

This is called "putting your feet up" grin

NanaandGrampy Sun 20-Aug-17 11:10:34

I'm with you Ann and Maw , let common sense prevail in regard to photos of children. My daughters don't mind, the kids love to see pictures of themselves and usually laugh when older ones appear and they see how they've changed .

As we all get to live further and further apart social media and email become what letters had been in the past - a way to keep families in touch.

Loved the poem Maw , you're a talented lady !

Sam is exhausted after his 'rest' in the car!! He admires Hatties skill at relaxing!!

NanaandGrampy Sun 20-Aug-17 11:11:07

Ps: I asked Sam's permission before posting his picture !! :-)

A cat story I think users of the Soop Kitchen might enjoy.

TriciaF Sun 20-Aug-17 12:35:08

MawBroon - That's always been my favourite poem smile
Well written!

soop Sun 20-Aug-17 12:36:46

Look 'ere you lot...here I am thinking, I'll have a quick catch-up as I drink my coffee. Fat chance! I'm "awing" over the baby and wee boy photos and loving the pet pics. I cannot get through so much news all at once. I'm away to do a few jobs first. Then...if you'll all stay still long enough, I'll catch up proper-like. wink
