Well tried it tonight and was great for 30 seconds and then it died, it was new batteries , but couldn't find any more of the same size... infact you cant have a battery in the house as DGS can sniff them out at 100mts so cant comment on it until I try some more batteries and then if it doesn't work will have to go back to the ebay seller.

I saw the epistick in the MN 'swears by' section - wish I'd had one ages ago..! It's wonderful - my DD & DIL are converts. Five minutes a day has made a huge difference to my fuzzy chin...! Cheap and cheerful.

I might let DD have a go. She's inclined to sit at traffic lights in the car trying to pull the odd one or two out with her fingernails.

For anyone who can't cope with gadgets on their skin, there's a cream available in the UK on prescription. You can get if online from Lloyds chemists. Very expensive but if used sparingly will last a long time. Isn't permanent but works really well while you continue applying daily. My SIL had real problems but solved now.

Braun 'Face' is great - mini epilator and cleansing brush. Easy to use and very efficient. The brush is great for deep cleansing skin.

So glad this thread has come up what a good discussion. I suffer from a whiskery chin and peach bloom i use a razer on the chin and hair removing cream on the cheeks every 2 or 3 months .

Would love to try a whizzit it sounds great, anything to get rid of the fuzz thought i was the only one with a fuzzy face.

a word of warning: waxing on the upper lip can lead to more noticeable wrinkles; I suppose it's the heat applied and the stress to the skin when pulling the wax away

Ordered a whizz it on Mon . after reading this thread. Came today. It's great! Chin hairs removed painlessly . A little tug on upper lips. Less painful than tweezers. Thanks to everyone who recommended it.

Hello, has anyone out there tried a home electrolysis kit?, I would be interested to know how you got on if you did as I was thinking about buying one myself. I can't bear epilators, have a lot of white hairs so IPL wouldn't suit me. I am currently tweezering but it has become a real chore and often leads me to having spots and sores on my chin as my hairs are very coarse and I am struggling to keep on top of the problem. I'm only 49 but have had problems with hairs on my chin for at least 15 years and have always had moustache problems but they were fine although dark and I used to use a hair removal cream specially formulated for the face.
I actually asked my doctor about a possible hormone imbalance and he said that there couldn't be much out of balance as I'd managed to have 3 children without any problems.
My daughter on the other hand has a lot of facial hair and she has been diagnosed with Polcystic Ovary Syndrome.

I use Nair cream for face & underarms & shave my legs.

Laser is well worth it. I have done my upper lip and chin, and have now moved on to bikini line and armpits. Wish I'd thought of it thirty years ago! I don't like waxing as you have to wait for the hair to be long and ugly before you do it again!

Sorry to contradict Paddyann but NoNo has terrible reviews online. I worked for a while selling hair removing products in a major UK chemist and the department manager in training covered the advantages and benefits of every product except the NoNo which she advised us not to promote because of the high customer dissatisfaction rates.

Well, it's been the curse of my life facial hair! I've tried it all...
I have for past few years given in and don't leave the house in the morning without a shave! A wet shave, my nearest and dearest know that if the worst come to the worst they must do this for me too, so I show no stubble ?.
It came I think from pcos early on and just got worse as I aged and more so then with the menopause.

I had electrolysis done 40 years ago on my eyebrow. I had only one, straight across my face.
The treatment divided it nicely and worked permanently. Never felt I should spend money on doing any more once I had a family but would love to try laser (which I believe has superceeded electrolysis) on my legs, bikini line, chin and moustache. I tried IPL when working with Lumea and Smooth Skin. Had lots of customers telling me how great both products were but perhaps my hair is too light. I either wax, (upper lip and chin) or epilate. The waxing I get done professionally (£8) and the epilator was about £14 from Aldi or Lidl. I tried the expensive epilators, again when working in that field, and my inexpensive one works just as well.
My one tip for face, whatever method you use, is treat yourself to some pure aloe Vera gel for after treatment, really soothing.

When I was in my early 40s, I had laser treatment on my upper lip, chin, hairline area. It took about a year, was expensive, but the result is that more than 20 years later, I have no facial hair at all. Indeed, I have almost no hair on legs or underarms either, although that is a mystery. A full head of hair otherwise.

I wish that laser had been available to me earlier as facial hair plagued my teen age years and only lightened up when I was on the pill. My DH and friends have claimed that they never noticed it but I knew it was there and it made me miserable. My younger self tried all available methods--except shaving. Years of hair removal creams, electrolysis, then waxing, then bleaching only provided temporary removal.

Laser, in a reputable place, if the hair is dark, works very well and worth the money.
