It is not usual for me to make personal comments but if the DoC's family are not concerned about her weight I feel they should be. This is not a good example to young people. In today's press her body looks positively emaciated.

Lona Tue 27-Oct-15 09:05:04

She does look extremely thin, but she looks happy and well at the same time. Some people are just disposed to be on the skinny side.
Not me unfortunately!

whitewave Tue 27-Oct-15 09:07:37

They (her mother and sister) follow some sort of diet I think.

Teetime Tue 27-Oct-15 09:21:46

I thought she looked a little wan- perhaps she is tired or pregnant again?

rosequartz Tue 27-Oct-15 09:29:48

Possibly she is still breastfeeding.

My DM was always very thin until she was about 40. She always described herself as 'thin as a lath'.
I take after the other side of the family!

thatbags Tue 27-Oct-15 09:39:47

If breast feeding made one thin, I reckon it'd be a lot more popular than it is.

In pictures of Kate during her university years, she does not look so thin as she has since her marriage, but more like a healthy and robust young woman (healthy and robust without being in the least overweight).

kittylester Tue 27-Oct-15 10:01:32

I agree bags and I didn't think she looked too happy either when caught unawares!

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Tue 27-Oct-15 10:14:39

I also thought she looked too thin when I caught a glimpse of her on the early morning news. I am sure she is exhausted and always having to look 'one's best' must take it's toil. I think if she were still breast feeding her boobs would look more fuller? I hope she just chills on days off and wanderes around in pyjamas 'til noon! I very much doubt it though.

gillybob Tue 27-Oct-15 10:39:07

In my opinion she is a clothes horse. No different to the stick thin models we all complain that encourage young girls to have eating disorders.

KatyK Tue 27-Oct-15 10:44:58

I agree gilly That wife of George Clooney is painfully thin too. Her legs look as though they could snap at any minute.

tigger Tue 27-Oct-15 10:53:04

Yes KatyK and I don't think that dress she wore for one of her wedding bashes flattered her at all (the one that went up at the front).

Maggiemaybe Tue 27-Oct-15 11:10:28

I think she (Kate) looks fine, healthy and happy. Some people are just lucky naturally slim. Hard to imagine 2 stone down the line, but I often used to be told I was too thin, usually by people who were a tad overweight. It was extremely irritating!

LuckyDucky Tue 27-Oct-15 11:12:55

I know the DoC follows a strict eating regime.

Remember, Photos put on weight hmm; what does she really look like? Arms are a give-away. Think back, Angelina Joli had scrawny thin arms and no bust?

When we were allowed to see photos of Katherine, as she was then, walking down a catwalk in Uni, she looked slim and fit.

loopylou Tue 27-Oct-15 11:25:40

I have to admit I was quite shocked at how thin she looked; it's one thing to be naturally slim and fit but I thought she looked unwell.

The dress didn't do her any favours, imo she suits stronger colours. It seemed to accentuate her thiness.
Poor girl, it must be awful being continually in the public eye.

Nanabelle Tue 27-Oct-15 18:53:37

… ^continually in the public eye ^….. but this is the life she has chosen! She does have someone to do her hair, wash her clothes etc etc, so it can't be that tiring!
I too think she looks thinner than in her university days; sadly we have been brainwashed by the fashion mags to think that clothes look better on thin people. We never see size 12/14 or 16 models so how would we know how clothes look on the more average sized woman!
I love her hair up - looks so elegant and suits evening wear and the wonderful necklaces and earrings she is able to wear.

Nanabelle Tue 27-Oct-15 18:54:17

oh, sorry, thought ^ ^ made italics!

Jane10 Tue 27-Oct-15 18:58:59

Her mother is one of those "greyhound" women -just a slim metabolism? The Gran is the same.
BTW breastfeeding is a brilliant way to lose weight.

rosesarered Tue 27-Oct-15 19:20:49

She looks naturally slim, but now is thin, there's a difference.I imagine it's because she always feels in the public eye, and needs to look good. She would actually look better with a little more weight.

rosequartz Tue 27-Oct-15 19:34:19

If breast feeding made one thin, I reckon it'd be a lot more popular than it is.
It certainly did the trick for me with number 2 (unless it was all the running around and pushing two in a pram!)

Tom Bradby made a faux pas on the ITV News at 10 - he referred to Prince William and Cake, then hastily corrected himself and said Kate!!

She certainly doesn't look as if she has been eating much cupcake lately

Just as well he is a friend of theirs.

Jane10 Wed 28-Oct-15 06:47:46

We'll need to stop obsessing on her appearance. Didn't do poor old Diana any good. For Kate's sake why don't we all pretend we're not in the least interested in her so the newspeople don't see any point in constantly photographing her? Give the girl a chance.

thatbags Wed 28-Oct-15 06:53:13

She's not a 'girl'. Don't be ageist, J10 wink. And as for not noticing what she looks like... fat chance. You know what the Press are like.

thatbags Wed 28-Oct-15 06:54:32

I don't think noticing that someone looks very thin is obsessing; it's just noticing. Same as noticing that on average people are less thin than a couple of generations ago.

Iam64 Wed 28-Oct-15 08:32:26

That's a good point thatbags, on average, people are less thin than a couple of generations ago. It'll be one of the reasons Kate's skinny look is so noticeable. I was like Maggiemaybe and often told I was too thin as a younger woman.
I feel for Kate and Amal Clooney, both good looking women who are photographed wherever they go. The ridiculous pressure on women to be 'bikini beach ready' even days after having a baby comes from a press that also tells them they're too fat/thin.
Nanabelle, yes Kate must have been aware this would be her lot if she married William. But, don't we all get a bit fed up of our chosen careers from time to time. I enjoyed my work and family life but that doesn't mean I'd have welcomed a day or so off fro

annsixty Wed 28-Oct-15 08:45:41

My OP was not one of criticism, it was one of concern, as could have been deduced by my comment about her family.

Lona Wed 28-Oct-15 08:52:24

I would think, after Diana, that William, Charles and Camilla, not to mention Catherine's mum, would be watching her eating habits and making sure she doesn't go down the same route.
