Had email at work to warn us flu circulating in the community now and predicted to spread Easter and in April. Also to inform us that not too late to get this year's flu jag. Rise in cases admitted to hospital.

Synonymous Sat 26-Mar-16 00:01:08

Oh whoops, shouldn't have eaten yet! shock

How you doing Grannylyn? Hope you keep the antibots down and don't get the tummy part. Not good.

Luckygirl Sat 26-Mar-16 10:23:09

Oh Synonymous what a pain.

When my DC were ill with the vomits I used to give them "fairy bread" - i.e. a slice of white bread with butter and sprinkles" (hundreds and thousands) on and cut up into tiny triangles. This was guaranteed to make them better! - but I had to time the introduction of this treat to the exact moment when the vomits were about to stop or the magic nature of the cure would be blown out of the water!

Hope you and Glyn are both in the mend.

This bug does not seem to have made it here to the wilds yet - but visitors due this weekend - let us hope they do not import this joy to us!

Synonymous Sat 26-Mar-16 17:56:41

Concerned about Grannylyn as she has not been around. hmm
Has anyone any news of her?

grannylyn65 Sun 27-Mar-16 09:34:49

Friend bought me some takeaway meals and some prepared fruits which I found really refreshing
Really appreciating good wishes ?

Synonymous Sun 27-Mar-16 09:43:33

Glad to hear you managed to get dressed and are being catered for. Take it easy and just don't push yourself in any way so that you get well soon. smile flowers

grannylynn and Synonymous Happy Easter to you both! Sending extra strong virtual get well soon vibes through the GN gateway! flowers Being 'proper poorly' is a good excuse to have a little bit of what you fancy cupcake brew wine

Bellanonna Sun 27-Mar-16 10:51:08

Glad to hear it Grannylyn. Bless your friend, she sounds lovely.
OH has a very bad back so has been in bed. Will go on my own to DD1 who lives round the corner. I'm no better with this awful cough, which wakes me throughout the night. Saw GP, not my usual one, on Thursday, and despite 6th week of feeling rubbish, he refused to prescribe. I had a spasm while I was there and nearly choked, but he said the only proper chest infection is pneumonia and he'd only prescribe for that. I do understand their caution but was he correct in what he said? Have I not got an infection? I feel shaky, lightheaded, sore chested, rattly, out of breath. And not improving at all. I'm sure many on here have been the same. Btw I had an X-ray which was ok. At my wits' end really. Going up and down stairs to DH is wearing, although he's totally undemanding. Roll on summer. Oh, and at appt Easter tbusmile

Bellanonna Sun 27-Mar-16 10:53:13

Happy. Thanks iPad.

grannylyn65 Sun 27-Mar-16 15:29:49

I'm feeling miserable too. I've had this virus thingy for 2 weeks now. Still got a horrible hacking cough making my asthma worse, horrible coldsore. The irons broke, I've banged into the same fence twice in my car so I've got a lovely deep scratch on the car, the fence has blown down. My sister and niece are arriving tommorow, my 3 little grandchildren are coming to stay while their mummy is in hospital. Thankfully I'm on annual leave for another week, and my sister will help with the children so I should look on the bright side, but it hard when these viruses get a grip. Here's hoping we all pick up soon

morethan2 Mon 28-Mar-16 14:16:16

NO, SIX WEEKS shockI've got to get better before that. I'll never manage. I'm back at work next week, then there's childcare, housework, shopping
shit help

Bellanonna Mon 28-Mar-16 16:41:54

Oh, morethan how awful. One thing after another. The cold sore thing is really painful, I had that at the beginning. So sorry for all your woes - looks as though your sister might be busy. You could do without the car scratch and the fence down. Hope you recover soon. It probably won't be six weeks either. I'm going to see if I can get meds tomorrow as the pharmacist said I should have had them (OK, their profit, but he was being honest I'm sure). Speedy recovery to anyone who's in the grip of this vicious little bugger bug.

morethan2 Mon 28-Mar-16 17:10:38

Looking on the bright side I haven't got the runs ? Like poor symnonmus that'd finish me off.

Bellanonna Mon 28-Mar-16 17:51:15

Yes, Synonymous - hope you're keeping things down. How horrible for you. Double whammy. Do hope you feel at least a bit better soon. X

Synonymous Mon 28-Mar-16 18:18:03

Ooh dear, we're all going down like nine pins aren't we! shock

morethan you picked the right pen name there! Clearly have more than enough to contend with hmm do hope things start on the up pronto.

Thank you for all the sympathy it does help! You don't feel like you're battling on your own. I am feeling a bit better today as the cough has nearly gone now, and I had porridge for breakfast and felt ok afterwards. Things are looking up and I am not running now PTL! Think I just might have porridge for supper too. smile
Nice sunshine this afternoon which always makes you feel happier! Poor DH so tired he has slept all afternoon, AF a bit of a problem today but at least he is ok otherwise. It is very quiet here apart from the snoring! grin
Grannylyn is flaked out too and sounds as if she's in danger of getting square eyes by all accounts. hmm Can't find squares on here.

flowers all round methinks - get well soon everyone! X

Synonymous Mon 28-Mar-16 18:21:33

morethan I just noticed the loo! shock where ever did you find that?! A bit near the bone that one have to say!grin

Bellanonna Mon 28-Mar-16 20:58:23

Scraping the bottom (of the barrel ) smile

Synonymous Mon 28-Mar-16 21:18:07

Bella blush and ouch because it is not quite a memory yet! hmm

Bellanonna Mon 28-Mar-16 21:43:55

Oh synonymous hope it goes soon !

Synonymous Mon 28-Mar-16 22:51:56

Just a little delicate and flaked out at present. Getting there as not feeling so yucky now thank goodness. Had porridge for supper and have kept it down and in (sorry I know it is TMI ) all day so that is encouraging. Porridge is so comforting, warm and easy to swallow.

Hope you are feeling better too?
Hope everyone has a really good sleep tonight and we ALL feel better tomorrow than we have done today. smile
