My anxieties have anxieties today as I have an appointment tomorrow for a Mammogram recall. I am 68 and never happened before so has come as a bit of a shock. Just need some positive thoughts and helpful words that will get me through tonight and tomorrow. Pauline x
I asked the same question to the consultant about doing it all in one go and he said they have 90,000 women to see in the East Anglian area so a big ask for a small department. He was sorry though! Thank you Tegan and Grandma60 for thinking of me, I too consulted Dr Google every day and some threads were good and some scarey but I am really pleased I came across Gransnet as it was my saviour. X
So pleased for you. I didn't post because mine wasn't good news but what I did want to say was that for once age is for you. The older you are the better your chances of beating it. It is 16 years since my diagnosis and apart from old age I am fine. Sleep well tonight and enjoy the rest of your healthy life. You have been given a bonus. Enjoy it.
Ahhh thank you annsixty. I do feel as if I've won the lottery tonight - in fact I didn't check my premium bonds today as it just wasn't important. I will sleep well, thank you x
Like Annsixty I didn't post because my outcome wasn't good either. But I didn't have a wait like you. Mammogram, scan and biopsy followed by diagnosis within the space of 2 hours. But it did mean that there was early intervention and a positive outcome after treatment.
So happy for you Eniluap. I still think you should have cracked open the Champagne though but under the circumstances I guess even a glass of water would have sufficed! ?
I also didn't post because my mammogram detected an early form of breast cancer which was too small to feel. It was quickly removed and after several years of close monitoring has not returned. I used to shake with fear at each follow-up mammogram and scan but what a good thing that the screening process can pick up early problems when they are easier to deal with.
I had a recall last year. I was really quite worried. They did a repeat of the mammogram. I had an ultrasound scan and was fully examined by the consultant who eventually decided it might be that a mole under my left breast was showing up on the mammogram as an anomaly but she could find nothing wrong.
Many people I know who attend our local hospital breast care clinic, (they make routine appointments from each surgery at a time) speak very highly of the care given.
