I think the Victorian drawers were crotchless to allow for easy peeing.....even standing up.

M and S children's sporty, high leg Lycra cotton briefs cling properly and comfortably under tight clothes including leggings. Due to vanity sizing the 8-10 years size will approximate to a size eight so you can get up to about a size 12 going up the age ranges. They are brilliant and only about £8 for a pack of three.

I think doctors recommend that anyone over 60 should not self treat 'thrush' as it often turns out to be vaginal atrophy and the cream to treat thrush can be counterproductive.

My heart warmed to Stacy Soloman the other day when I heard that her husband complained about her underwear not being sexy - he said she wears nickers almost up to her waist. Stacey said she likes to be comfortable . Good for her!. I find a 95% cotton 5% elastaine full brief works for me, and if I am going to be sitting in an office all day, I also wear a light everyday pad. I couldn't bear to wear trousers without undies, with a skirt perhaps I might.

Cotton French knickers are a real boon for those who suffer with Thrush, but sadly you no longer see them in the shops. Also, and I cannot stress this highly enough, avoid tights like the plague. They are one of the worst offenders. Wear stockings or just have bare legs.
Also, avoid using strong bio detergents and indeed perfumed fabric conditioners to wash undies in. They are a real irritant to sensitive areas.

I find waist high cotton pants with long tena lady liners works best. Mind you, I'm a married lady pensioner, if I was 20 I'd go commando!

Just wear big knickers.

They certainly won't disappear up your nether regions.
Can't abide pants that cut into and up the crotch.

I always hated the way that thongs find their way into places where they really shouldn't be - most irritating!
A few years ago, my vacuum cleaner conked out, so I called in the repair man. He fiddled about in its innards for a few minutes, then shouted "It's blocked up, Missus - I just found a pair of yer winter drawers stuck in there!"
He held up a tiny diamante thong - my lazy teenager had vacuumed her bedroom and couldn't be bothered to pick her undies off the floor, so she just hoovered them up!

Hate wearing knickers of any kind ..as I get a red rash in my groin and they are uncomfortable ....so I always go commando...never wear skirts but of course I would wear panties if I did.
I haven't worn panties or tights for years ...and never wear socks either...no matter how cold it is, even with wellies.
Never wear nightwear either ...even in the coldest weather !

And HRT isn't for everyone. I was warned off it by my brother (who is a doctor) - it can predispose towards some cancers. I was on it for several years a long time ago, to help with low bone density. Then I got spotting and had a cancer scare. A hysteroscopy revealed a tiny polyp had caused the spotting, but I've been too scared to go near HRT since. I'm not sure whether the pessaries carry the same risk - I'd love to try them because post-menopausal probs are wreaking havoc with me undercarriage!

I would never wear a thong - can't stand the thought of flossing my bum or fanny and it's a sure-fire way of transferring e-coli bacteria to the urethra in those susceptible to cystitis (as I am).
I wear pure cotton - or almost all cotton - shapewear from M&S, waist-high.Or Sloggi. I find those most comfortable and hygienic. Also....if you have a dodgy bladder, knickers are rather essential

I saw a pair of great grandmother's cotton pants and they were exactly as you described annsixty, individual legs and fastened around the waist with tapes. Imagine how long it would take to undress for the loo so very practical.

I have seen Victorian knickers in museums and they were like two individual quite long legs which seemed to tie round the waist with tape which went in opposite directions ,not a good description but crotchless all the same.

I wouldn't dream of going commando with trousers or shorts but frequently do when wearing skirts and dresses. It is so much more comfortable and no VPL. Cannot imagine wearing pads, so sweaty. HRT takes care of dryness and atrophy, thinning bones, loss of sex drive, hot flushes etc., etc. Who'd be a woman???

I'm with you Jalima, never heard of these terms. I wear trousers, leggings etc all the time and never been aware of any problems, thankfully.

Just on the question of thrush, if you get it regularly DO NOT buy Canestan at the chemist--go online and get Fluconazole. It's a quarter of the price and exactly the same thing.
