Heard a lot about "green tea" just wondering if any GNetters drink on a regular basis and if they think it helps them in anyway.

I was feeling shattered this morning and was just about to make a cup of normal tea (milk & sugar) when I found my emergency bag of mixed teas/sugar/coffee etc that my neighbours bring me back (all from the welcome trays from their hols) smile

There was some "Green tea" in there so I decide to have a drink.....not sure if it was mind over matter but I did seem to perk up later on! Its a taste I would have to get used to eventually hmm.

I mix and match throughout the day. De caff tea first thing followed by de caff coffee straight afterwards. Then green smoothie made with green tea. Redbush mid afternoon [and lots of water with d Mannose in it throughout the evening]. Someone did put up a list of food/drinks that can irritate the bladder and green tea [surprisingly] was one of them so I am a bit careful with it now.

I love Rooibos but want to use some of the teas I use less often. My Rooibos caddy is empty but I may buy some tomorrow.

In Germany green tea is now OUT and to be healthy(!) you should now drink Chia tea.
I drink Typhoo but have various types of tea in my cupboard for my DDs. No doubt another tea will soon be popular without anyone becoming healthier.

I drink green tea everyday. It helps to keep me free from
urine tract infections.

I don't like green tea at all. Rooibos is lovely as a change from ordinary tea, and it's caffeine-free, so nice for a late night cuppa. In fact, if I wake up in the night fancying some tea, I know that it won't make me more wakeful.

I did try Macha Green tea as it is supposed to be good for regulating blood sugar. It was very bitter so didn't last long

I have a blend of Green & Black Tea, so hope I am getting the benefits of Green Tea but with the taste of an ordinary cuppa

I'm having Diplomat Green Tea with Jasmine teabags at present, also some unusual teas from T2, all loose leaf.

J52 Wed 07-Sept-16 19:09:39

I must try that MrsJones I hope it's not too sweet.

I love jasmine tea, we always drink it first thing in the morning. I always ask for green tea in a restaurant after the meal as coffee is a bit much for me after 10 a.m.! No idea if it does any good, but it's supposed to be an antioxidant isn't it?

mrsjones Wed 07-Sept-16 18:12:26

I like Twinings salted caramel green tea. It's best if left to cool for a few minutes and makes a change from a trad cuppa.

Green tea, spot of honey and leave the tea bag in, tastes better and better the more you drink from the mug!

I try not to have caffeine, (heart) does any one know how much, compared to black tea, green tea contains? I had a present, from China, of white tea, I liked it and, as far as I recall, it had very little caffeine.

Can't really take to green tea but mint tea, love it. Make it from fresh mint in a caffeteria (is the spelling r Ishtar?) and add lemon and sometimes honey.

Like it now and again, make it quite weak and find it refreshing. Problem is I forget to make it!

Witzend Wed 07-Sept-16 12:06:41

I only started drinking it because a visiting sister left some behind - I thought it tasted awful - like stewed hay - at first! But I got used to it and quite like it now, drink at least a couple of cups every day. Still drink black tea (no milk, can't stand it in tea) and strong coffee too, though.

Faye Wed 07-Sept-16 10:56:44

I have been drinking green tea for six years now and it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it. If you make it too strong it can taste bitter if you aren't used to it. I couldn't go back to drinking black tea with milk now.

We have had an early morning cup of Green Tea with Lemon for about the last 20 years or so and apart from being refreshing start to the day it has had no noticeable effects on our well being. DH drinks Green Tea with ginger as his last drink of the day (which I do think tastes foul) as he prefers not to drink coffee after the evening meal as I do- again no noticeable health benefits.

Tastes awful. Does nothing for me.

You were probably a bit dehydrated biker. Any drink would have made you perk up.

aggie Tue 06-Sept-16 21:59:34

We liked the green tea ice cream smile

aggie Tue 06-Sept-16 21:58:49

I got it in Japan and quite liked it , but the stuff I brought home didn't taste the same , maybe it was the boiling water . I found it had less caffeine

Tegan Tue 06-Sept-16 21:47:45

I put green tea in my smoothies. Was advised to not use boiling water as it made it more bitter.

Wobblybits Tue 06-Sept-16 21:19:08

Trouble in HK is that if you drain your cup, they keep re-filling it, took me about a week to realise that you just left it full, seemed rude not to drink it.

J52 Tue 06-Sept-16 21:09:16

I drink green tea with lemon, all the time. I really miss my early morning cup, if I don't get it. I couldn't tell if it makes a difference health wise, but I don't like black tea with milk any more.

I'm fussy about the brand, having tried several and only buy Clipper brand.
