Just been informed that my knee has 'reached the end of the line'. Need replacement. Am devastated and really worried about it all. Any positive info welcome.

Bravo- try not to get to het up and be positive. So are you going for GA or spinal/femoral block? x

Jane10 Fri 21-Oct-16 18:16:58

Spinal with sedation which sounds like the best thing. Apparently I'll fall asleep but its not a GA. Phew!

Glad you made a decision (I was really scared about it- but although I stayed awake for the whole thing- I was NOT distressed at all)

Wobblybits Fri 21-Oct-16 18:33:12

Jane, it will soon all be over, sound s like you are in good hands. Hope I can follow in your footsteps soon.

Not my decision granjura I was just told that's what was going to happen. I just do what I'm told !

This is good news Jane10 not too long to wait and no GA. Hope you've got plenty good books to take with you!

The main problem with the spinal block and sedation Jane10 is that they keep waking you up taking your blood pressure grin

Jane10 Sat 22-Oct-16 08:23:55

I can put up with that!

Wobblybits Sat 22-Oct-16 08:29:19

Just don't have the sedation, you won't be asleep then.

Jane10 Sat 22-Oct-16 09:20:56

Errr I'm quite keen on the sedation! I don't think I have the choice. I was told that that's what that particular anaesthetist prefers.
My friend who had a different op at the same hospital was given a particular drug which has the effect of sedation but leaves no memory of what's happened. Apparently it wasn't Rohypnol but I couldn't help wondering!

I found the sedation very good Jane10. I was vaguely aware of things, and knew when they were taking my blood pressure etc, but didn't really care! I don't know what this sedation is called, but I can definitely remember the operation.

Henetha, sounds good. My TKR was, today, postponed until 3rd November. Yesterday, at a completely unrelated clinic in a different hospital, it was discovered that I have another infection ...

sad

Jane10 Wed 26-Oct-16 06:03:17

Oh Elrel what bad luck. At least its only delayed till next week and not put back for months is the best I can say. brew
Meantime, mine's today. Am up very early as I'm not to eat anything after 7am but I am supposed to have a breakfast. Don't feel like it much. Well I am prepared I think. I had a very bad day yesterday with my leg so I'm going to try and remember that when the rehab going gets tough. Onwards and upwards!

Good luck Jane10 I hope it goes well for you sunshine

My thoughts will be with you today Jane. By this evening you will be bionic with your shiny new knee.

Eirel, sorry for your delay, but better to be 100% fit before they operate.

As GN is my lifeline these days you can expect bulletins as I get along. Feel free to ignore though as I may just be doing it because I feel the need to let it all out!

annsixty Wed 26-Oct-16 09:36:54

IT WILL BE FINE Jane xx
