Bleeding from cervix

Just wondered if anyone has experienced this and what the outcome was
Had a small smear of blood, so made an appointment with GP ,in the meantime i developed Cystitis
Dr examined me and said cervix looks ok, but still sending me for a scan,
It doesnt seem to be connected to the Cystitis, as that started a few days after
I am very worried now as they will be checking for cancer too
I have no appetite , but lost some weight before this, which i put down to stress, which has been vert high in the last few months, but now worried its due to something else

Good luck- I hope that the scan is soon to hopefully relieve your mind.

I do hope that this is all sorted quickly and you can relax. Any way of reducing the stress?

A quick referral is standard practice for post menopausal bleeding so you're likely to hear about an appointment very soon. Try not to let that panic you, although I know from experience that that's virtually impossible! I had an appointment within a week and they were lovely at the clinic, quick scan and lots of reassurance. I had to have a second, slightly more invasive, scan a week later because they couldn't see everything they needed to but all was well. It won't be long, hang on in there

I have been through something similar over the last year (a larger bleed though) and it was all Ok and just connected to HRT. The consultant said to me 'these flashes in the pan' are usually nothing but we just have to be sure. Try not to worry. flowers

I'm going through this at the moment too . I Started cyclical HRT about a year ago and then moved on to continuous ( to stop the bleeds) since then I have had nothing but problems and have been bleeding on and off ( mostly on) for weeks now . Am seeing the GP again this week and I'm going to insist on a referral . Getting terrible "period like" cramps too . GP keeps saying it will settle but it's been 4 months now and it hasn't . I'm starting to worry its not the HRT at all but something more sinister .

I had this. I had a scan and then a hysteroscopy and they found polyps which I had removed under a GA. They were found to be harmless. It is a worrying time though.

As Ann says, very worrying - I dread that happening.
Hope the outcome is good, Valerie.
(I still use an HRT cream locally. )

Sounds like atrophy to me; no point saying not to worry too much, cause it's horrible having tests [had an awful few months last year having tests for a PMB]. Hope everything's ok for you

valeriej43 please do not worry it only adds to your situation

Even if it is the worse you have gone to the Docs straight away and even if it is something, you have caught it very early and they can do wonders nowadays.

The C word no longer means the D word

Do not think the worse, clear it from your mind, til you get your results.

I had the same blood spotting and I was fine smile

valeriej43 What I would like to add is stress is very bad for your health and you should make a conscious effort to either reduce it or learn how to deal with it better.

Stress busters include

Going for a walk in the park
Yoga
Buddhism
Doing something for ourselves that we enjoy
Mini break
Taking a deep breath

Oh dear, the joys of our 'lady parts' after a certain age! This year I have had more problems than the whole of the rest of my life, fibroids and prolapse included. I now have so much 'hardwear' inside ( mirena coil, hormone ring etc) as the great Joan Rivers said " whenever I cross my legs the garage doors open!! ?

Don't knock out the smear of blood being connected to cystitis it seems strange that the two are almost overlapping if it isn't!
Good luck for a speedy test and good news at the end of it

Valerie, I had a bleed which was put down to cystitis and I was prescribed antibiotics. Because of the post menopausal bleed, I had to have an ultra sound scan and a cystoscopy, but no abnormality was detected. I was then referred to a gynaecologist who diagnosed vaginitis. I was prescribed oestriol cream and have had no further problems. Good luck with it all.

Thanks everyone, i did wonde4r if it was connected to the cystitis, but no blood in urine, and no further bleeding
Also wondered if it was due to the estrogen cream, having hormonal cream after a long time without it
I am trying to reduce the stress, but lost a stone in weight in the last few months.again i put down to stress
I have always lost weight at stressful times as i cant eat then
I find it very difficult to put weight on, [lucky really i guess]

Meant to mention, have new partner, which the GP asked me about if any bleeding after sex, none,
Before the cystitis got bad i had been having a bit of stinging, but wasnt bad so ignored it, then it came with a vengeance
I will update when i know what is going on
I hope you ladies having similiar problems are ok

Just to cheer you all up - I'm 81 and still use hrt ceam or pessaries to protect against recurrent cystitis. A couple of years ago my GP advised me to have annual internal checkups - echograms. So I made an appt with the local 'expert' in these things.
Turned out it was a man, not a doctor but a technologist.
I went to his clinic and I was the only person there, not even a female secretary, so no chaperone.
To say the least, the examination was very 'invasive'.
I never went back.

TriciaF Mon 04-Sept-17 11:49:25

ps this was in France.

I had this some time ago. Had a biopsy. No malignancy, just polyps or similar. Given hormone pills because I refused the mirena coil ( too much trouble with that years ago),
Had a repeat biopsy last month, still no change, going back in another 6 months. I'm happy as long as the bleeding is kept away, which is what the pills do.

valeriej43 Mon 04-Sept-17 13:14:38

TRICIA, what an awful experience for you.dont blame you for not going back

valeriej43 Mon 04-Sept-17 13:17:18

TRICIA;FORGOT TO ASK.WHICH HORMONES ARE YOU PESSARIES AND CREAM
Sorry caps on,is it just oestrogen or combined with
progesterone

TriciaF Mon 04-Sept-17 18:21:57

Valerie - I think both are oestrogen ie oestroil.

valeriej43 Mon 04-Sept-17 18:47:38

Tricia, thank you.i did wonder if it was the estriol that had caused it,as not had any HRT for a long time.im early 70sand recently, well last few months got a new partner, although known for over a year, and apparently that can cause cystitis, so just hoping for the best really, that the bleeding is connected with cystitis, but the Dr said everything looked fine to her, scan is just a precaution, i think, just in case there is anything else

valeriej43 Wed 06-Sept-17 13:34:24

Got my scan date 14th,and follow up on the 18th,in case i need any treatment, but more worried now as i have lost a bit more weight,
Having said that i have no appetite really, due to stress,
The scan is to see if the womb lining, but its the extra weight loss that is worrying me now
Has anyone who has had this or similiar lost weight ?
