I wonder if any of you lovely medical ladies could give me an opinion.
Yesterday I had a routine mammogram, which showed a very small lump. I then had an ultrasound followed by a needle biopsy (not aspiration). The radiographer said he could see on the ultrasound that the lump wasn't a cyst.
I get the biopsy results tomorrow Obviously I'm very worried - is there any chance it could be anything other than cancer?

I have had lumps removed from both breasts; in all cases they turned out to be benign adenomas. Good luck for tomorrow.

Could be a calcification? I'm sure it will be fine, it is very small anyway. Do post an update. Good luck.

Good luck Margsus x

Nonnie Tue 10-Oct-17 14:40:42

No idea but I can see why you would be worried. Please let us know the outcome

Thank you ladies! Grannyknot I already have calcification, that's why I have regular mammograms, and this is the first time in years that they have noticed a change.

I too had a large lump. Dr. tried to aspirated it but no luck. Turned out to be a benign adenoma.Had to have surgery to have it removed though. So good luck Margus

I have had several scares from mammograms, but none of them came to anything. Let us hope it will be the same for you - but if it isn't then you are in there early to deal with it.

Lots of good luck - the waiting is the worst bit!

Just an update to you caring ladies who asked - got the results today, unfortunately it is cancer but very tiny and hopefully easily dealt with. Lumpectomy next week. Bugger!!!

Niobe Wed 11-Oct-17 19:41:19

Margsus, just to wish you a speedy recovery. I am glad it is tiny and hopefully a lumpectomy will remove all the rogue cells. flowers

Glad you caught it so early on.

Sending every good wish for a good result, Margus

How fortunate we are to have mammograms and smear tests FOC, and the follow up treatment. I used to give the younger girls at work short shrift when they would either moan about or ignore smear test appointments.

Margsus - at least you know and it's being treated. Take care. x

It is bound to be scary to have this but it has been noticed and they are working on it. I hope you get some positive news tomorrow.
Do try and get some sleep tonight I know that could be difficult.
Best wishes.

A further update - had lumpectomy yesterday, only had to stay in hospital for the day. Feeling a little sore today but no need for painkillers. Get the final results on Thursday. Seems ages away!

Hopefully you’re a little less sore today and Thursday will come quickly. I’m guessing you won’t really relax until you get those results, I know I wouldn’t be able to if it was me

Greyduster Sun 22-Oct-17 15:05:50
