Is it worth doing?

I've been feeling a bit tubby (or tubbier!) of late and I was thinking of doing something about it before the inevitable slide of C***** festivities and all the food and drinking that goes alongside it. Any tips?
Or should I just say sod it and face the fat consequences in January?

Another vote here for Slimming World eating plan but NOT the meetings. I lost 2 stone for DDs wedding and have kept it off since reaching target weight in July. Found the meetings boring and patronising and used to weigh and run.
But there are lots of unofficial SW based websites which you can use for support if you need it and lots of recipes too.
SW official recipes too loaded with artificial sweeteners and chemical sprays for me?

Just over 4 years ago, I mysteriously lost my appetite, and ate very little. This went on for nearly a year, and I lost over 2 and a half stone. Then the appetite gradually came back, and so has the weight! I haven`t weighed myself (I daren`t!), but I think, from the feel of my clothes, that I weigh more than ever, although I don`t eat very big meals. I find it impossible to diet though, no willpower, so in my case I will be saying Sod it!

I was recently told that I had raised cholestorol. I spent some time going through my diet and checking on a few regulars that I eat re saturated fat. As a result I have adapted certain things linked only to reducing saturated fat but not thinking about calories. I eat everything I fancy but have cut out a couple of real "Baddies" for saturated fat (now use half fat cheeses; check labels; etc). I have carried on with my regular daily walks and some cycling. Anyway just through doing that I have lost 7 pounds so far in 4 weeks without actually trying to!! smile

I too have my health issues that need to be addressed with healthy eating. I seem to be a all or nothing type person. I either diet to the letter or I eat what the heck I like. The last two years I've been back and forth but mostly the sticking my head in the sand frame of mind. I have excuses of stress and life problems but in the end I just don't care enough! I have never been one to love myself as they say but I'd do like myself! smile

I have been reading this with interest and I am in the same place as you minimo.
I am the most over weight I have ever been since giving up smoking.
Very keen on 5-2 diet but do not understand it fully. Can you eat whatever you like for 5 days as long as you eat (or fast) the remaining 2?
Any good links for easy to follow 5-2 diet?
