Chrissy wish my GP was like that we had a receptionist that was like that with me sadly she has retired now.. I am fortunate to have 2 daughters and a son that are very understanding it’s me that doesn’t want to talk I find it very hard. I don’t want them to worry about me, they can tell when I’m not well apparently I get a look about me that lets them know I worried ?. Now I think they can see something when I see them looking at me. Errr it’s so horrible being like this we are not living. I don’t look anywhere now I just stay hear with friends..

Scaredycat I’m sorry about the AF. Must be difficult to take your mind off it. Quite unsettling I would think. Is there anything you can take/do that helps ease the symptoms?

Annie I know you are right but suddenly acceptance is getting harder. I think its because there is no end in sight. DS and DiL came round yesterday but we only spoke on the drive. Afterwards we had quite a long chat with our neighbours and watched the boys playing in the road with their remote controlled cars. I am grateful we live where children can play in the road so today keep reminding myself how much I have that is good.

Joce must have missed what you are knitting, what do babies have hand knitted these days? I used to make 2 ply Shetland shawls but I don't think anyone uses them now. My patterns cost 1/-!

Chrissey oh to have that lovely GP, we had one but we moved and I have heard that he has too. Sorry to hear that you are having a bad day, I understand about not showing feelings to those close but I don't show mine because it feels as if I'm going over old ground and they won't know what to say. When I did tell them I was feeling low about the pandemic I got support so it is clear that they do care and maybe I should tell them more.

Don't get upset by what people say on other threads, GN has its quota of nasty people just like everywhere else, you don't know them so don't take any notice.

Sorry you have sciatica as well as the arthritis. You must be in agony. What a treasure your mini tornado is. Reflexology is great for pain and I wonder if the human contact is also a healer. I understand your worry about universities it is a hard one to get our minds around. Also, being alone and no one to have a sensible conversation with. I did go for lunch which was lovely. I was amazed at how frightening I found the whole experience. The first step outdoors for so many months filled me with fear.

Just seen you are reading Emile Coue. Studied him at Uni what an inspiring psychologist.

Nonnie I have been looking for a shawl pattern, can’t find one we like, 2 ply I bet they were beautiful. I can’t find one I like to buy.. both mi daughters like hand knitting more so for baby.
I’m getting excited now our new baby due in November. It’s her first. Done some booties and a coat.

Joce345 I can talk about how I’m feeling but only if I know that the person I’m talking to is happy to listen and won’t judge me. Unfortunately hubby isn’t happy to listen. I have a cousin who lives near me and she has suffered with mental health problems herself so she understands but you can’t keep moaning and groaning as nobody wants to listen to that. You’re right, this isn’t living.

Doodle I know what’s making me feel so upset. It’s because I’m doing what I always do and that’s focusing too much on my physical health. Symptoms that wouldn’t concern others are the end of the world to me. Comments in the other thread did upset me a lot but that’s probably because of my emotional state at the moment. I’m not reading other threads now, just sticking to here.

I need a new brain! I’m very upset about the situation with my eldest daughter. She is a naturally caring person and always told me not to bottle things up and to talk to her if I needed a listening ear. Over the last couple of months she has cut right down on her phone calls to me and the last time I saw her she said something which came across as she didn’t want me to to tell her about how I was feeling. I completely understand that listening to me droning on would get a bit much. I think I’m doing exactly that here, sorry
The pains I’m struggling with in my legs and back, which I’ve had for about a year, in my mind, must be something really bad even though I saw 3 doctors about it at the end of last year. They focused on whether it could be the statins causing it and didn’t physically check anything. 2 of them didn’t even look at my legs and 1 said it sounds like a trapped sciatic nerve. Then I’m worried about mouth cancer. I was supposed to see the dentist for a check up in April but of course that was cancelled, have an appointment in 2 weeks time but have been having a nasty taste in my mouth and it’s also very dry. I’ve been telling myself that I saw the dentist in August 19 so, even if there is a problem, I didn’t have it then so even if there is something it will still be treatable.

Chrissy I so understand you! I used to be tormented by health anxiety and when I had my children I started focusing on them for every bruise every cough every headache. Thankfully with time it's got easier but I still have my moments. It's great we can share our feelings here and realise we are not the only ones. I can only advise you to have any niggling worry checked and also tell the doctor why you were so worried. That should help.

ChrissyR don't take any notice of posters on other threads, to be nasty is part of the course unfortunately for some of them, sad really. You are welcome here and it's good you can talk, we are here to listen. You need to have check ups, at the dentist and at the doctors and then your mind may rest. Try the doctors again and ask to speak to someone. Your appointment at the dentist will soon be here. Take care.

Difficult for family to understand sometimes. Also as they want you to be happy they try and cheer you up so you don’t feel you can say any more. I keep my thoughts to myself most of the time.
Lucyanne good to have you back with us. Lunch out. I bet you enjoyed that even though it’s difficult after a long period of lockdown.
Flutterby take care of yourself, never give up hope, hope those test results come through soon and relieve some anxiety.
Chrissy you are obviously someone (like me) who takes things to heart. Some people upset others without even knowing that they’ve done so. None of us like criticism or unkindness.
Chrissy I’m not sure if this is the case with your DD but I do know that it is difficult to talk to someone who is down or anxious. No matter how much you love that person there comes a time when you have run out of things to say. It is hard to be positive if the person on the other end of the phone is upset. Also our loved ones don’t want us to be miserable so they don’t actually want to hear that we are. I wouldn’t take it that your daughter is bored with you or not interested. People do care but it’s hard to do so with people you are close to. This is why this thread is so important. Firstly we all know how others are feeling and we can offer support without being worn down.
The dry mouth could be something as simple as a medication you are taking as could the nasty taste. Pine nuts are known for producing a nasty taste in the mouth. Statins are known for muscle pain which is why DH stopped taking them. If you feel the pains are nothing to do with the statins you need to ask the Gp to investigate other causes.
I understand how down you can get with all this worry. Have you tried yoga or something to relax you?
Lavender how lovely you have such a good relationship with your DGD. She is obviously a light in your life. ?

Chrissy I know it won’t stop you worrying just hope it helps ease your mind a little, I suffer with a very dry mouth, and get a nasty taste. Stress can do it, I have a toothpaste prescribe which helps a lot. I think Doodle is right statin can do it..
there is some nasty people don’t let them upset you, I think I know the one you have been on, don’t worry they haven’t got a clue silly people...

Yes I do have daily meds for AFib Doodle but just have to get on with the times it comes on and wait for it to pass - yesterday was a long one.
Lucyanne glad you had a nice lunch it is scary the first time you go anywhere but well done for doing it.
Chrissy I understand how you feel it is so hard to stop thinking,checking and worrying about physical problems. I think reassurance is what we seek constantly but as soon as one thing is resolved another one appears. Hope the dentist can put your mind at rest.
Annie hope the relief you had from your foot massage has lasted today too.

Chrissy have you told your GP you have a health phobia which is making your life a misery ? You need to see a counsellor or someone from the mental health team .

When did this phobia start ?

Hii everyone. Thank you for welcoming me a few days ago. I haven't posted as I have been trying to read all the posts and get to know about you all. There are some truly amazing ladies on here. Some of you have gone through so much and yet still obviously have so much love and care in you. Annie, I marvel that you can even get up in the morning, let alone take the time and trouble to care about everyone else. It puts my own anxieties into perspective. I guess I have had a fairly easy life . I know (or at least try to convince myself) that all my depression and severe anxieties ( my health anxiety is through the roof) are firmly in my head and not real. But that does not help the sheer terror I experience at every tiny twinge, ache, discomfort I feel. I am in the middle of a HA crisis must now. This one has lasted for about 8 weeks so far and I feel completely nauseous all the time. No one knows how bad it is. My DH knows I have HA, but not how bad it is. I feel sure that on here I will at least be understood. I will tell you more about me next time. But until then, Godbless and sweet dreams. Xx

Anniebach GP knows all about it as have several GPs in the past. I’ve seen lots of counsellors over the years and been under the mental health team for long periods of time. I’m seeing a psychiatrist at the moment but only once every 3 months. Nothing has helped so far which is why I’m going to try acupuncture. I’ve had it all my adult life so around 40 years.

BlueSky Yes this is a place where you realise that you’re not the only one suffering with it.

Welcome Lizbethann55 I’ve only just joined and the ladies in this thread have been so welcoming and kind. Unfortunately for them I’ve been writing some very long posts.

I understand completely how you’re feeling and how hard it is to deal with, it can takeover your whole life. I hope that you will tell us more about yourself when you’re ready.
