Chrissy my surgeries weren’t all bad 5 of them were having my kids, I stayed awake for 2 of them it was different back then. I was so they tell me, the first woman in this country to have 4 Caesarian sections, they wanted to film it for the TV I said no thank you. My husband was the first man to be allowed in to watch. I am so grateful for them times i have 3 beautiful kids and well worth it all, it’s how it had to be. I still fear the going to sleep. If only everything could be cured with a pill... to be honest there not much I don’t fear when it comes to Hospital Doctor or anything medical, it’s how I am. Sure you understand that. What I would give to be different I hope and pray the councillor can help me I’m staying positive..

I don’t remember it Annie, how awful for you. I remember a lot of horror stories that were told, it really was horrible time thankfully it’s different now..

Anniebach I may be the oldie here because I remember the old mental hospitals. Times have changed but even in the 90s I found that there was still some stigma with regards to mental illness. I had been referred to a psychiatrist at a large hospital. When I got there I went to the reception desk to ask where I needed to go. She looked at my letter and told me that the clinic wasn’t in the main hospital it was at the other end of the car park. It turned out to be a portacabin that had see better days and they had put a fence round it. It was like it should be hidden away out of sight. Anyway I’m waffling on.

Joce345 Wow you’re famous ? But you have 3 beautiful children and that’s what matters. Oh if only there was a pill to make everything right. Fingers crossed that all goes well with the counsellor.

I’ve had quite a stressful day. I’ve been suffering with bad pain in my legs and back. I dropped a letter of at my GP’s 10 days ago but haven’t heard anything. I phoned today and they said that a GP read it 3 days ago and marked it as routine. Apparently I should get a call from a receptionist next week to book an appointment with GP and that could be in around 3 weeks.

My routine mammogram is due next month and I can’t deal with waiting for the results (made myself ill last time) so I contacted a hospital near here where I can have it done privately and get the results the next day but I have to be referred by my GP, quite how I’m going to manage that I don’t know.

Sorry for the ramble.

Joce you have been through a lot. I suppose if everything could be cured with a pill then we would never suffer but then would we have any joy. Would we feel anything at all?

Chrissy sorry you’re not feeling too good. It is difficult to get a mammogram done privately. I don’t understand why they won’t do one without a GP referral but I do know that is the case. Try telling the GP how bad you felt last time and see if they will agree to you getting it done privately.

Did your mini tornado come and whirl through your home tidying as she went? I hope she made it.
Really tired tonight. I think the trip yesterday made us exhausted. It’s been such a long time since we’ve been anywhere.

My darling mini tornado came today, much laughter and
all the dog hairs vacuumed up, they were groomed today so
no more moulting, if nothing delays their next appointment.

I have been really struggling with sciatica as well as the arthritis, today my darling girl decided to give me a foot massage , so relaxing, this evening walking around the bungalow I suddenly realised the sciatic pain had gone, this
could only have been the foot massage, pain from top of the
thigh eased by feet being massaged !

And she washed a lot of unmentionables, I am so blessed .

Annie how lovely a foot massage. You dear tornado is a true blessing. Laughter always good for us best medicine ever, especially with loved ones..
Note sure when the fear started really Annie, I know it’s got harder has I have got older. I have had some bad experience with the medical professionals over the year. I had never heard of pernicious anemia I was diagnosed by my old GP I asked what it was, his words you need injections every 3 months for the rest of your life, me: I don’t understand what you are saying, doc: well worst case is you are 99% higher risk of stomach cancer go and wait for the nurse to start your injections. Thank you very much for that doctor.. Well was I a mess when I got home.. thank goodness I understand it more now.. he could have explained it better..

Joce some doctors have no idea how to break news to patients or to discuss their condition with them. We have seen a few of those in the past. Well meaning perhaps but totally useless in their bedside manner.
Annie what a lovely day with your mini tornado. So much done and laughter, the best medicine. I wonder if your foot massage reached those pressure points for the pain in your hip. I can’t remember what the term is but there are people who massage areas of the feet to relieve pain elsewhere. Your DGD must have a magic touch.

Sorry you are struggling. It sounds as though you have a lot of changes going on in your life at the moment, which are difficult for you to deal with. I do think, as well, that the whole situation with the virus certainly doesn't help any of us.
Annie will be along soon and give you some more help. There is always help and support here for all of us and it is good to see you here.
Keep coming back to us, there is always someone to listen.

The pain was relieved because the sciatic nerve goes all the way to the foot. In reflexology the foot represents the whole body. Think of the big toe as the top of the head.
I have seen reflexology relieve pain from cancer when the morphine stopped working.

.of reflexology, doubt she has heard of it. She gave me a foot
massage when cutting my nails, I can’t hold a scissors.

The sciatic pain certainly stopped, it was bliss, I want to learn
more about reflexology now. Wish I could do it on me.

Hi All, I'm back. I had an issue with this thread, could only see up to August 9th and HQ have been trying to sort it out for me. Looks like they have succeeded. It was weird because I could see the other threads!

Joce is it a fear of the anaesthetic or the surgery? I have had so much surgery but it doesn't worry me, I worry that I won't wake up! Every time I tell the anaesthetist that I don't wake up easily and each time they treat me like a child and explain that I will be OK then two days later tell me I was right! In Stoke Mandeville a patient told me that the nurses were panicking when they couldn't wake me and called the consultant. When he saw it was me he simply said "Don't worry, she always does this"!

Chrissey & Annie it is not so long ago that DS was taunted that he was 'mentally ill like his mother' from someone who should have been helping him. That person is now on antidepressants themselves so I hope they have gained some understanding.

Chrissey sorry you are in such stress, hope the GP gets in touch soon and can sort it all out.

Doodle hope you are less tired now and that it was a good trip, don't have time to look back for the details.

Annie that sounds really positive, hope she comes again soon. I love a foot massage. What kinds of dog do you have?

Welcome Dottie1. Feel free to pour your heart out here, it may help simply writing it down. You will get lots of support. Moving to another area while you are in this state seems a bit risky imo.

Me? I have coped so well with the pandemic so far, been really positive and grateful for what I have but yesterday I went right down. It is all getting so much worse and we don't seem to have a good strategy in place to stop it. There are so many people determined not to follow the guidelines and quite a few in denial. I feel as if we should now stay home and not even meet close family. The only good thing was that DS told his 6 year old that Grandma was feeling sad to he video called to cheer me up, bless him.

Welcome Dottie you sound very sad. There is obviously something on your mind that is keeping you awake and worried. Would this be resolved by moving? Come on here and chat to others whenever you like. We all know how it feels.

17 weeks when my granddaughter couldn’t come and I didn’t see anyone, not even a chat with the Tesco delivery man . But

Annie what a lovely day you had with your mini tornado. Grandaughter s are special and never fail to cheer you up. Glad your foot massage helped the pain she must have healing hands. Reflexology is a lovely therapy - years ago when my husband had cancer and got very depressed this was something he enjoyed. I too have had reflexology and it is very relaxing.
Joce those practisers have no idea the damage they do with a thoughtless remark . A practice nurse with zero people skills did the same to me and put fear into me that I had never had before .
Nonnie welcome back . I agree that the current situation with the pandemic feels so much worse and so many people seem to be behaving in a selfish and ignorant way. As long as we are careful we must get out and if possible see our loved ones if only from a distance!!
Not having such a good day today as I,ve been in AFib since waking so feeling very shaky and anxious which doesn,t help. Bit of a vicious circle!! I,d had such a good run of weeks without it.

Nonnie good to see you back with us. That is some of my fear not waking up, it’s every think that goes with it... kids always make me happy. My youngest granddaughter just love to chin at me, so yesterday I told her don’t you chin at Gran. She went home and face timed me she was so upset that she had upset me took us a long time to calm her down bless her.. she’s been again today and yes she wanted to argue with me again ????

Scaredycat it so true they have no idea what they do to us, another reason I can’t stand having tests and waiting, they phone and say you need to see the doctor your bloods or back why what’s wrong, the doctor will explain scares me more than anything if I didn’t have to wait I’m sure I would be so much better, sadly we do, I would hate to think I was taking some ones place that was urgent so it’s wait we have to do...

Nonnie Welcome back, glad you got things sorted. I’m sorry to hear that you had a bad day yesterday, I hope that today has been better. The number of new cases is very worrying, all we can do is protect ourselves as much as we can. There are a lot of very selfish people about who are acting as though we’re not in the middle of a global pandemic.

Scaredycat Sorry to hear that you were suffering with the AFib earlier today, I hope you’re doing better now.

Joce345 I know exactly what you mean about the dreaded call from the GP receptionist saying that the doctor needs to see you. I go into a complete meltdown. I had a brilliant GP who knew how bad I was when waiting for test results. He used to give me an appointment for when the results would be back so that I was in his room when I was told the results. Unfortunately he has retired now.

I’ve had a really bad day, feeling very low. Cried a lot but only when hubby wasn’t about, I never let people see me cry. He wouldn’t understand anyway, he’s more of the stiff upper lip brigade. I used to be able to talk to my eldest daughter but, after she said something that came across as she didn’t want to hear about my problems any more, I just keep quiet.

I made a mistake by replying to another thread on here which has only added to my low mood. I won’t be doing that anymore.
