My DH just been taken into hospital with an irregular heartbeat, low oxygen and breathlessness worse than normal due to COPD. He has been unwell since xmas eve and we have tried to cope at home with calls to 111 and gp ringing us back with prescription for antibiotics and steriods as he is prone to chest infections. But this morning we had to admitt defeat. Hoping they will discharge later today as dont really want him staying in there, also that they will sort out what ever the issue is. sad

My thoughts are with you travelsafar, it is a horrible situation when you are unable to get reassurance from staff. I really do think the wards should delegate a ward clerk to keep families informed.

I feel so sad for you travelsafar - you’re exhausted and worried. Can you ask family/a friend for support?
Could someone keep trying the hospital line for you?
At the very least you know your husband is having the oxygen which he needs and with time it will raise his levels and breathing and talking will become regular again.
It’s so frustrating for you both. Sending warm wishes ?

Just caught up on this thread. My thoughts and good wishes to Travelsafar and everyone else who is unwell or has unwell relatives. So difficult in normal times but more so in present uncertain times flowers

The switchboard tried several times for me as still couldnt get through so, SB lady finally put me in touch with the duty matron who will go to the ward and find out what is happening and get a nurse to ring me, this will take about an hour as they are very busy which obviously i understand. Feeling exhausted.

I’m so glad you’ve finally managed to make contact with the hospital travelsafar. I hope you receive positive news. Then you must try to have something to eat and drink and have a sleep. You must be mentally and physically exhausted.

Had a rough day today. Positive results arrived by text last night. Have been in pjs on the sofa all day no appetite feeling very nauseous cant drink tea or coffee just having water. Dh going downhill again today. Just rang hospital and they are waiting for ICU registar to come and assess his suitability for going there. Have to ring back after 10pm to see what happens.
