I had Covid at Christmas. It was horrible but I seemed to pick and get better. Except I haven't. I'm so tired all the time, get headaches, feel hot and cold for no reason, suffer from all sorts of aches and pains and have brain fog.

I spoke to my GP today. She's organising blood tests but it's a possibility that I've got long Covid or it's triggered my ME symptoms again.

I'm sorry this is just a whinge but I'm so fed up.

vampirequeen there is a Long COVID Support group on line that you could read/join.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful but talking to people in a similar situation to yours, may help.

I’m sure I read somewhere that getting the vaccine has helped people with long Covid. Which makes sense when you think about it.
Has anyone else read or heard that?

Thanks for all your nice comments and flowers.

You’re definitely not whinging va. Why wouldn’t you be totally fed up, especially as you’ve had the experience of ME. I’d be stamping my foot and saying ‘not fair’! Hang on in there, see what the bloods show, or indeed don’t. Be kind to yourself, it will help.

I’d be flipping whinging too vampirequeenl It must be incredibly frustrating, the Morrison’s order was a weeny bit of control, it not working out was almost a final straw. I can’t improve on others suggestions, hopefully the blood tests will shed some light, meanwhile try and indulge yourself a wee bit and give yourself a big cheer for doing as well as you are. ?

Vampirequeen - you are definitely not whinging. My son ( fit and 42 ) got tested positive 7 weeks ago , he’s never been in hospital apart from 2 occasions when he felt he couldn’t breathe and pain was bad. He seems to take one step forward then one back, it is just a horrible virus and not enough known. I think Whitewave said a doctor said could take a few months but eventually you recover, that gives me hope for my son and hopefully you as well. Only 5 long covid clinics in England, none in rest of 3 nations, they need more funding with so many people having it. In N Ireland where my son is there were so many that the heart/chest/ strike charity has set up centre, if you can get in. ?

Sending you hugs and flowers - if you want to whinge, this is the right place for it!!! Hope you feel better soon!! flowers flowers

My husband was in hospital through covid, and for him, he has received a lot of after care, follow-up hospital appts etc. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything similar for long covid sufferers who were not in hospital? One positive thing for my husband is that the follow ups have highlighted other longstanding health issues which he was fobbed off on by the GP. The covid consultant has written a very detailed report to the GP, and strongly recommended that my husband makes an appt to see the GP. Guess what, he has tried, and can't get an appt.....

They are linking long covid to M.E./Fibromyalgia as both are post viral fatigue, there was a documentary on TV on Monday which talked about it. I am hoping that all the clinics and money they are throwing at long covid will benefit all us ME/Fibro patients who have suffered for years with no support or understanding and finally we can get the help we need.

Juicylucy Sat 20-Mar-21 11:05:17

I feel for you, after my vaccine I had total fatigue and brain fog for 48 hours so can’t imagine how you must be feeling. Best wishes hope it eases very soon.?

Happiyogi Sat 20-Mar-21 11:09:08

Hear, hear, cookiemonster66.

Catlover21 Sat 20-Mar-21 11:11:08

Definitely not a whinge, a very understandable statement of frustration. Are you able to get out each day for a short walk? With spring well on its way it lifts the spirits to see the buds and see and hear the birds. It may help you feel a bit better for a short while. flowers sunshine

Partner and I, both early sixties, had Covid six weeks ago and although the main, horrible illness has improved we’ve got much the same residual symptoms as you describe and so I really do feel for you. It’s still too early for us to be referred to a Covid clinic according to my GP but we’re being monitored. I think the fatigue is the worst part - the complete exhaustion and breathlessness after any kind of physical exertion is something I’ve never experienced before. Can you ask for a referral to a

Pammie1 Sat 20-Mar-21 11:20:04

Sorry pressed send too early !! Can you ask your GP for a referral to a Covid clinic ? Ours is going to if we still have the same symptoms three months after getting Covid - I would imagine you’re approaching that stage now. I believe the clinics have specialists who can track symptoms and advise how best to manage things like energy levels - our appetites still haven’t recovered and I think some dietary advice may be useful. I do hope you feel better soon.?

D’you know, I think that coming onto this forum when you feel like having a whinge is not only sensible but considerate. You’re sharing your problems with strangers and not placing a burden on your loved ones or those to whom you are important. Good for you, and good luck to you. You deserve it

Theoddbird Sat 20-Mar-21 11:28:10

Wishing you well x

Luckygirl Sat 20-Mar-21 11:32:06

Oh please feel free to whinge! I can absolutely understand that the Morrison debacle made you cry. Covid is a dreadful bug and you may take a while to get back on top - but you will get there. flowers

I just want to add my good wishes too.

I had Covid mildly in July (I was only tested as the Zoe people thought my symptoms could be Covid and offered me a test. I was amazed to prove positive as I had 'only' a rotten headache, sore throat, slight rash on tummy and lethargy; I just needed to sleep 23 hours of the day) and the brain fog following on from the lethargy was quite something.

All I say is this will pass and not to rush to be better. I was helped by the fact that ironically because of Covid, I rarely needed to have a deadline for anything so could slowly recover, which you will, at my own pace.

Take every day one at a time, don't plan anything, else you may be disappointed if you are not up to participating and treat yourself gently. I would suggest upping your intake of fruit and vegetables to ensure your body has the best intake of vitamins but other than that, there is not much that you can do.

This will pass but there are no textbooks so no-on can try to predict the duration of your recovery. One day at a time, you will recover.

PS
We fight Morrison's ordering system - I can't comment on the online systems of other supermarkets but my goodness, this one is not user friendly! You not completing your order was probably not brain fog but their daft check out process!

Hope you do feel better soon

VQ, your symptoms sound like my niece's experience of long covid. She had the virus last summer and still has fatigue and a fluctuating temperature, sometimes almost 40 degrees. This isn't easy with three children of primary school ages. She has had a battery of tests which have shown that her heart and lungs are unaffected but is still being monitored. VQ, I'm sure I have heard that specialist clinics are being set up around the country for the sufferers from the after-effects of this still only partly understood virus and I hope you can benefit from the kind of attention paid to my niece.

Sparky56 Sat 20-Mar-21 11:54:41

Feel free to winge! So sorry you’re not feeling well - hope you feel better soonsmile

vampirequeen Sat 20-Mar-21 12:06:16

Thanks everyone. I'm a bit less whingey today. Yesterday was just a perfect storm. Every symptom kicked in and Morrisons was the final straw.

Mollygo Sat 20-Mar-21 12:06:47

Hope you feel better soon VQ. ?

timetogo2016 Sat 20-Mar-21 12:10:13

Whinge away Vq.
We all need to sometimes.
And i hope you start feeling better very soon.

Mirren Sat 20-Mar-21 12:16:27

I'm a GP and we are starting to see more of this. It's really awful for all concerned. I feel so sad that I am unable to help these poor people. Of course, they get frustrated at our inability to help and I have been sworn at and told I don't care.
That is so not true!
I hope that " science " will come to our rescue again very soon on this one .
Sending love to all of you suffering and praying you all improve soon xxxx

Notright Sat 20-Mar-21 12:26:53

Oh I do hope you feel better soon. It's not only possibly due to the Covid, being locked down doesn't help.
But you're right to get checked out by the doctor. I've heard that people do feel pretty wiped out after they've had it.
Good luck and read some good books till you can go to the park. Karen
