New scar

I had a dizzy spell about 2 weeks ago, fell and cracked my head.
Now I have a 5-6 inch gash on my forehead!
Just in time for Halloween!
I'm frightening the horses as I look like Frankensteins girlfriend (remember her from the film, frizzy hair stood up on end. That's me as I havent styled it since I fell?).

Its healing but it looks as if it will be a groove with thick skin either side.

What I want to know is if anyone had tried oils that say they will diminish scar tissue and do they work?

Ever hopeful Thanks.

I used Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil on my operation scars & it worked wonders for me. It seems a bit pricey but you only need a wee bit each time so a little goes a long way

Thank you for all your suggestions.
I've just spent a fortune on some silicone dressings and Bio oil!!
Hope they make some difference.
It's the depth of the groove that is most noticeable.
I should have had stitches but couldn't face the 6 hour wait in AE.
So I went home and put iced peas on it for 48 hours.

Good luck with both Namsnanny I'm sure you already realise but the silicone won't stick if you use the oil. My sons plasters used to last for days even though he bathed every day.

Good point Elless. So it's one or the other then?

I'd use the silicone strips first as they are supposed to flatten the scar then start with the Bio Oil later on then.

Yes I think your suggestion is the way to go Callistemon. I've been using the Bio oil at the moment as the silicone strips havent arrived yet.

I hope it all works, Namsnanny.

I’m seeing a plastic surgeon about my keloid scar from open heart surgery. He said you only really need something like E45 cream. I use kelocote also.

I'll look that up Mattsmum2 Thankyou.

Another recommendation for Bio Oil. I cut my cheek after a fall against the edge of a chest of drawers, and thought it would leave me scarred as it was quite deep. I used Bio Oil each evening and now it hardly shows, I was very impressed with it.

Aqueous cream was recommended by surgery nurse for my knee replacement scar. Cheap for a big tub from chemist. Massage in regularly.
