The OP said herself in her second post that she is able to go out occasionally.

I know from friends just how difficult it can be for some people to get out of the house.

Short of sending an ambulance and a person being taken to the surgery with two paramedics in attendance it would be impossible.

As ambulance services are being stretched beyond their limits it is not feasible.
Far better for one practice or district nurse to visit several patients on one day. The Pfizer vaccine can stay refrigerated for a certain length of time and it is certainly not administered at minus 70 degrees.

It's predictable on GN that someone will always jump in and take offence on another's behalf - where none was intended (or, probably, taken).

I was merely pointing out that (if you can get out - or have a good day) other options are available, regardless of what a GP may have arranged - or not.

Locally, we have drop-ins and appointments at the pharmacy, concert hall and GP. If you're booked with one, then find a more convenient place or time with another, the first can be cancelled. The Saturday drop-ins mean that no leftover vaccine is wasted.

My dad is 85 and is still waiting for his flu/booster jab to be administered by a District nurse in his home.
He is not housebound, I took him to a centre for his initial covid jabs, but when I contacted the surgery to check whether he had had his flu jab yet ( he is very forgetful), I was told that he was on the list for the district nurse to do both.
I contacted them a fortnight later (last Friday) because he still has had neither to say that I would just book him into an inoculation centre and take him myself, only to be told that I can't, he would not be eligible, as he is already 'booked in'.

So yes, non housebound people DO get home visits, for some bizarre reason. The surgery also said that they are very short staffed, so it may take some time to get out to him?

I understand the pressure they are under, but to leave a vulnerable 85 year old waiting when there is no need is just daft.

Hello everyone no need to get in a tizzy about whether or not I’ll get a home visit. There are various reasons why I’m on the home visit list. I’m just waiting patiently and as a dear friend said I’ll not be missed out I’ll just have to wait my turn. The NHS are so very busy at the moment. Love to all.

It’s not just in the wider community where there’s a disconnect.
I went to have my B12 injection, while there I asked for my flu jab.
Receptionist sorry, we haven’t got any

Went into have my B12 and mentioned this to the nurse.
She looked at me with surprise and then opened a cupboard to show me their stock of flu vaccines. ?

I don't believe the 'not eligible, already booked in' comment that Flossiebo received. I would try to book elsewhere.

The problem is that staff only understand their own part of the system (that's if you're lucky) and haven't a clue about the national scheme - along with a lot of the public.
