let's hope The Queen doesn't follow.

No one is immune to Omicron. And the only masks that protect are really high spec ones and I’m not even sure about those. We’re so lucky that it appears to be mild. I do hope the Queen is ok.

I think like many people they were simply trying to do their job. If they stayed in splendid isolation they would be criticised for that.

You're absolutely right. They're between a rock and a hard place really, damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Agree

We caught Covid without socialising, despite being jabbed and careful!

Coastpath Mon 14-Feb-22 18:08:36

According to the BBC Camilla had been out visiting charities and told people she had tested negative before leaving home. She said she had taken the test 'so many times'.

Sounds like someone trying their best, testing and continuing to work hard. Not a superspreader.

I did notice on the tv clips showin what could have been their last appointments, Charles wasn’t wearing a mask whereas Camilla was.

It's airborne, Maw. Caught by inhaling aerosols, very fine particles hanging in the air, like smoke. Particularly in enclosed spaces

So don’t we need to wash hands or use sanitiser any more?.

Casdon Mon 14-Feb-22 20:32:20

Omicron is actually more likely to be caught from surfaces than the earlier variants, so washing hands and sanitiser is more important than ever. Charles touching his face could well have been the source.

What a horrible thing to say blossoming

No, what’s horrible is someone who carries out public engagements without the slightest concern for the safety of the public. No mask, no distancing, shaking hands, constantly touching his face. I hate to think how many people he’s put at risk. But I suppose he’s only doing what Johnson’s told him to do.

How horrible will you think it is when it’s announced the Queen is ill?

JenniferEccles Mon 14-Feb-22 23:07:07

Despite what you might say blossoming your comment was unpleasant.
Charles and Camilla were working and meeting people through their work like millions of other people. I’m sure they are both triple vaccinated, probably therefore have mild symptoms and, like the vast majority of people who contract covid, will make a full recovery.

In effect they were doing what we should all be doing now, getting on with our lives and accepting that covid will be with us for some time yet.

Not beyond the usual hygiene practices, no.

It was originally thought that the virus could be passed on through droplets expelled by coughing etc (they're much bigger than aerosols) contaminating surfaces, but researchers found that it was practically impossible to culture the virus to infective levels from 'contaminated' surfaces.

So all the sanitising of everything has been a bit superfluous really. Still, I expect the sanitizer manufacturers don't mind...

Ooops. Just read your link, Casdon. But the persistence of the virus on surfaces was what initiated the sanitising in the first place. And I was looking at research that found it was virtually impossible to culture the virus from surfaces.

So I suppose that in this case you pays yer money and you makes yer choice... grin

Thank you Casdon ?????

I think they were trying their best and trying to do their jobs. If they disappeared from public engagements no doubt they would also be severely criticised. They can't win, can they? As for the unpleasant and uncalled for comments, well there's always one, isn't there?

Coastpath Tue 15-Feb-22 09:53:55

Blossoming Why do you continue to say that Camilla didn't have the slightest concern for the safety of the public when she had taken a test with a negative result before going out.
