Hate my teeth

I have horrible teeth! My granddaughter asked me why my teeth are brown. My front teeth are a mixture of fillings of different colours and a bridge. Because of that ordinary whitening treatment wouldn’t work. I’ve considered implants but I’ve had one nearer the back and had to have bone made as I didn’t have enough. So it was even more expensive so I couldn’t afford to have 6 done. My dentist thought she might be able to crown them but now is retiring.
I try not to smile. I’ve never smoked and have looked after them as best I can.

I'm sure you will, and congratulations for getting it done!

I'm in the middle of a course of dental treatment that I was dreading. I need three crowns and other work, including a probable extraction, unless I can summon up courage and money for the tooth to be root filled and built up. I've had a filling replaced and a temporary crown fitted so far, and it wasn't as bad as I expected, although the bill was bad for my health grin.

Childhood memories of dentistry are awful, aren't they? I know in my head that things have moved on a thousandfold since then, but I still dread going.

Not sure whether anyone will see this as I know it's an older thread but just wanted to add my experience.
I saw my dentist last week as my bottom teeth are going brownish in colour on the biting edge and I have become very self- conscious about them. I asked about Composite Edging as the whole tooth would not need doing. The price for this would be £100 per tooth and he recommended to do 6. My bottom teeth are very small and I think this seems excessive. Has anyone else had a price quoted for this that I could compare? Wishing we had a dentist in the family!!

I have been falling this thread with interest and I have booked an appointment for a specialist (Paris) but the first appointment is for January. Thanks for posting it gives me an idea of the cost. I will let you know the quote.

Marina compared to the price for crowns or implants that is very reasonable. Go for it.

Matina that’s a fair price.

Thank you Ellie Anne and Jaxjacky for your comments. If 2 of you think that's a fair price I will probably go for it. My teeth aren't suitable for crowns or veneers as the gums have receded too much so the only other alternative would be to replace the teeth with a denture.

If it helps, I have just paid £650 each for crowns. I was quite shocked at the price of private dentistry, but was unable to get an appointment on the NHS.
