Hi all x

When I spoke of my experiences in hospital I was trying to be
optimistic , think I failed.

Had rather a busy day yesterday, my younger daughter acquired a list of private carers, contacted several, I know have
three and four are willing to be on standby if I need them. No more weekends without seeing anyone and no panic if my
lovely carer was to be ill, she has worried about this.

How is everyone?

Anniebach That's good news about a carer. It'll be better for you to have someone calling round at the weekends.

It's warm (21) and sunny here. Son1 and his girls are out, have taken a picnic, so DH and I have been for a pub lunch and I'm going to look at cars on Available Car website, as I'm going to scrap mine next week.

SweetPeaSue- so sorry about your ongoing pain- so debilitating for you. You have every reason to complain when you are so affected. I think you are very brave.
Sorry if I have the impression my nephew is home now. He is still in hospital and had more tests yesterday.
Yes I do feel tired but am keeping my fingers crossed for a visit in the Autumn if not it will be next year.
Annie- what a lovely daughter to have been able to help you make the carer situation less fraught for you.So good that you won’t have to be alone at the weekend. She must have been very worried for you.
Nanny- love the image of you with your leafy weapon to defend yourself. Your goose will know better than to mess with you again!
How big are your snakes? Have they got names?
I hope your DHimproves as he gets used to his new regime.
HVDY- sorry I got in a muddle about the sisters. It’s lovely that you all get on so well together and very good for your SiL to be able to see her sisters.
Leeds is a nice city and never really gets any praise. Those shopping arcades are so attractive.

Doodle- can’t imagine ever having torrential rain again!! Hope it has done some good for all the gardens.
Yes the dressing up was a big hit- dragons,knights and fair ladies!!
Today we have been for a walk by the river and into,town as it,is,a much better temperature. Sat in the garden this afternoon with my feet up!
I,m still waking up so early with a head that won’t shut up- think that’s why I,m so tired. But hopefully it,ll pass.

HVDY Warm and sunny here today too. I hated looking at cars when my last one gave up the ghost. Car salesmen can be so pushy and I feel suspicious immediately. Actually can't be much fun being one, can it? Good idea to look at them first online. Hope you find something.
*Scaredycat *I'm sorry, you hadn't mentioned anything to give me the impression that your nephew was back home. I'd misinterpreted that he was a little better in a post and I can't think why I'd made the mistake he was out of hospital. I hope he continues to improve. Oh I really do hope you can see your son in the Autumn. Also that you get a more restful night tonight. My head can work overtime when I wake during the night too. Wouldn't it be great if our brains had an off switch? Our bodies are meant to 're-charge' at sleep so no wonder we can feel flat the next day. Take care.

Nanny things must be difficult for you and your DH. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you both. I hope the tube helps ease things for your DH.

Hope your son and girls had a good day. Funnily enough we are looking at changing cars too.
Sweetpeasue please don’t keep saying you’re complaining. Your not. You are explaining how you are feeling and if you aren’t feeling great then it’s ok to say so. We are always ready to listen here. Being kind to one another is what we all do.

Annie your daily carer sounds like one in a million. She obviously is very dedicated and cares about you a lot. I do hope the weekends get sorted out soon.
Scaredycat the ground is so dry the torrential rain just was absorbed. Your walks sound much like ours. Sometimes a walk by the river and sometimes into town. It’s nice being by a river isn’t it. Do you have many boats on yours?
Sweetpeasue I know what you mean about salesmen. I spoke to one today who was so abrupt and dismissive and very pompous. Fortunately I got to chat to a really nice girl (under 40) who was very nice and helpful.
I hope all of you have a pleasant bank holiday weekend without any anxiety. Especially you Ellie Anne things seem so joyless for you at the moment. Take care all

I know this is silly but I'm so anxious. Had pre-admission assessment this afternoon and I'm terrified. It's a small private hospital that takes NHS patients, like me and I've learned if anything goes wrong I'd have to be transported to the larger one. It's only about 4mls away but.... Operations are 'Consultant led' - - no other skilled registrars present during OP.
Why have I been left with undiagnosed condition for 2 yrs. I suspect one of reasons is that 'they' know it's caused by the previous op(which it bloody well was!). What will they find? So sorry for going on. I'm just terrified.

Oh Doodle sorry, I didn't see your post. Thankyou for your kind words. You also made me smile about needing the canteen of cutlery. ?

Sweetpeasue I worked with doctors for many years. Some excellent, some practical and some uncaring but I haven’t come across any who took account of what had happened under someone else’s care. They are more likely to condem a bad doctor than stand up for them so please try not to worry. There are many private hospitals around and they know if necessary they will have to transfer patients to a mainline hospital. I doubt it happens often but procedures will be in place. After all you’ve been through at the hands of the NHS I can understand you being concerned. Please try not to worry I’m sure they will take good care of you.

My GP providede with a letter to give him next week when I have appt to go over details of op. It speaks of my anxieties and of her belief in what I've told her about last op. She has said its up to me if I give it to him. I don't know what to do. I don't want to inflame things but it's not fair if my concerns aren't addressed. It's v difficult to explain everything on this open forum but I'm so thankful for the care I've received here. X

I'm v appreciative of your words and it's good to know they come from your own experience in working with Dr's.

SweetPeaSue I can understand how anxious you must feel, but I'm sure it must be on your notes about what happened before, and how you have suffered since. There are a couple of private hospitals near to me, which take NHS patients. I'm sure you'll be looked after. You need this appointment. I would definitely let this hospital know about your concerns. I told any medical person who would listen about what happened to me. I've narrowed my car search to about 4, all of the same make and model, all about the same age (2018.19), so I'm going to go and choose one of them tomorrow.

This damned neck pain kept me awake for hours again last night. I'm not looking forward to going to bed, it's been painful all day. x

Hope you're not in painHVDY and you've not had too bad a night. Neck pain is horrible when you need to lie down. Mt consultant doesn't want to listen about what's happened. Some things I was told by a Dr were not in my notes. Oh I will go to the appt. Thankyou.

*SweetPeaSue. Thanks. I took a CoCodamol last night, slept 11.30-6. The pain is still bad. I think it's the Trapezius muscles. The only thing I've done differently recently was to carry some shopping (including a 10lb bag of potatoes) from the car to the house. I hope it'll settle down if I don't do too much.

How is everyone this morning? Mr Cooper has taken to sleeping partly under my bad, with the top half of his body sticking out! I almost kicked him in the face when I got up. Silly boy.

I guess our neck muscles and ligaments aren't as strong as they once were but perhaps just a tilt of the head in wrong position while carrying a weight could have done it. Whatever it's been I hope it soon gets better but if not you may need an XRay. I am sorry. It will feel at its worst when you get out of bed I expect.

SweetPeaSue I wouldn't go for an x-ray (I doubt it would show anything). It's the neck/shoulder that was damaged by the incompetent oafs at Coventry last July. It gets worse as the day goes on, and it awful at night. I don't think my poor posture can help. Thanks though. How are you? x

HVDY Oh I see. I'm OK at present thanks. Had disturbed night again but more to do with overactive mind. Been out this morning to supermarket, had a coffee n toasted T-cake then been out reading in garden. Just come indoors - its lovely out there but Im starting to flag with the heat.

It's difficult to switch off an anxious or unsettled mind, isn't it? I take an antidepressant at night, which makes me drowsy, but when I really want to sleep better, I take an antihistamine, or like night, a Co-Codamol (no good at all for pain). I don't like this weather either.

Just had a 2 hour power nap. My weekend carer didn’t turn up
Difficult ? Very, nothing to drink, no liquid meals, no dog food,
kettles empty, felt anger and very anxious. My regular carer came,younger daughter messaged her so have all I need, one
kindness can wipe out hurt can’t it .

Doodle how are you my love ? heard from your friend ? There are times when we can’t do more than worry and give it to God x

Scaredycat I so hope you will have your visit in the Autumn,
how is your nephew and sister ? Worry feeds anxiety my love x

HVDY if no improvement see a physiotherapist, if muscular
they can help x

Annie How upsetting. You must have felt so helpless. I wonder what happened. You must hate having to rely on others. I hope you find out what happened as its no good you having someone you can't rely on. Thank goodness for your good, kind regular carer. I hear what you're saying about the past Annie. Once I'm free from the pain and have a reason for it I can hopefully move forward but I'm angry that no responsibility for my situation has been owned it has made me feel worthless.

Sweetpeasue why take it onto yourself? If errors were made
you didn’t make them . A woman had to wait 47 hours for an
ambulance, does this make her worthless ? No.

If you are not given an explanation why spend your life dwelling on it ? I am not being uncaring, just sharing - we cannot change the past my love, but we can let the past spoil
the present and the future x

Anniebach Oh, that's awful that the carer didn't arrive. Thank goodness for your lovely lady who never lets you down. I've seen a Physiotherapist about the shoulder, who gave me exercises to do, so perhaps I'll start doing them again (and look online for ones more for the neck too). x

How's everyone been? I've just cleared my car out, ready to get rid of it - Available Car is going to value it tomorrow, so I might get a couple of hundred for it. Hopefully, I'll be able to collect my new (ish) one on Wednesday. I'll try to keep this one scratch-free . Hope everyone on BD has a relaxing evening x

Sweetpeasue it is obviously your choice but if your GP has written a letter to your consultant it might be an idea to give it to him. Your Gp obviously supports you and I would hope the consultant would take note, I Hope the appointment goes well.

HVDY good luck with the car search. So difficult to know what is a good buy if you are not mechanically minded.
Sorry about the neck pain. Have you tried wrapping a rolled up towel round your neck when you go to bed. I do that sometimes when my neck is bad, bit like a surgical collar.
Hope your neck feels better soon. Would something like ibuprofen help you neck pain more. I think it’s a muscle relaxant.
One of our dogs used to sleep under our bed. If I put my hand out at night her would lay his head under my hand so I could stroke him.
Annie that is so bad your carer didn’t turn up knowing you are helpless without her. I’m so glad you have one who’s really good.

I bought a couple of things online but they have to go back. Either that or I find a local gorilla with very long arms who wants to wear them ?. Been trying to sew some belt loops on DHs trousers but can’t get the size right. Either too big or too small. Have another go tomorrow. Sleep well all.

Doodle I've tried Ibuprofen (no use) but I'll try a towel, thanks. I chose a car - a 2019 Dacia. Only 21,000 miles on the clock. I only ever go by price, mileage, size and look. This one is apparently an ex-mobility car, so has been looked after. I had to laugh at your comment about needing a gorilla with long arms .

How is everyone? I've been up since about 7 (the boy woke up late ). Stripped my bed and made it up again, did 2 lots of washing and got it on the line. Showered, etc., now just waiting to see if Son2 is going to ring about going out for lunch (doesn't look like it but that's ok).

SweetPeaSue- please don’t apologise for feeling scared. It’s no wonder after all you have been through and are still going through. I too think that you should take the letter from your GP when you see the consultant. I really hope that the appointment goes well.
I,m glad you were able to get out yesterday - toasted Teacakes are real comfort food .
HVDY- have you tried one of those microwaveable wheat bags for your neck? I have cervical spondylosis and they really help when you are sitting down in the evening .
I hope you enjoy your new car. I always feel a bit sad saying goodbye to an old car and have been known to say sorry to them. Oh dear I do sound a bit daft!!
I think Mr Cooper likes to keep his eye on you from under the bed! One of my daughters new little cats likes sleeping on my grown up GD shoulder - so sweet.
Annie- thank goodness your lovely carer was able to come to the rescue.She really is an Angel. I hope there was a good reason why the other one didn’t turn up- how could anyone leave you without anything knowing your position.
Thank you for asking- after many tests it turns out my nephew had had a heart attack. More worry for my dear sister.
Doodle- hope you soon hear from your friend- I expect she is still very much on your mind.

This weather is much nicer to walk in isnt it- hope you Are enjoying your walks again. Yes a river is lovely - we drive there and then walk. The reflections the other day were lovely.
