Princess Grace hospital cancelled vital surgery for a woman who requested female-only staff and would not accept a transwoman nurse as female.

After many, many complaints from individuals HCA Healthcare UK (owner of Princess Grace Hospital) has now offered the surgery involving female-only staff, at its Wellington Hospital in London on October 31 .

Yes just moan. No legal cases, no crowdfunding to support detransitioners, no campaigns about the safeguarding issues at the tavistock, no education advice provided to schools, no organisations created, no protests.

FarNorth Mon 31-Oct-22 23:39:05

A vulva is a vulva, a clitoris is a clitoris.

What rubbish.

Galaxy Mon 31-Oct-22 23:34:05

Er what I said was most of the gender critical women I know are lesbians.

VioletSky Mon 31-Oct-22 23:29:20

Also Also as someone who is in the LGBTQ community, it's bigger than you might think and it's pretty accepting

Saying that you have concerns about sports and safe spaces and communal changing areas does not make you a GC feminist... or i would be one and so would quite a few actual trans people

It's possible to have concerns about fairness and equality without discriminating and many people do

It's possible to take a common sense approach that seeks equality

And there has never been a reason to paint trans people as worse than the men people claim to be afraid of that makes any kind of sense. Especially when all people do is moan about it and don't actually look for solutions themselves believing its somehow up to other people to make them comfortable when it's clear that isn't going to happen anyway because "people can't change sex"

Yet here we are

And I've tried to fix the ridiculously long sentences but I type the way I talk and if I can get it all in one breath that's what comes out.

VioletSky Mon 31-Oct-22 23:20:11

Lathyrus

I really don't get why you would throw my own point back at me

That's exactly what I was saying

Galaxy saying "most GC feminists are lesbians"

In her circles maybe

In my circles lesbians I know are happy with the T

It proves nothing except for a difference in circles and possibly generations

And what proves my point is that most GC in this circle are not lesbians

I've met one here

Rosie51 Mon 31-Oct-22 23:15:42

LadyHonoriaDedlock I know lots of lesbians who are quite happy having sex with post-op trans women, without feeling it is a problem. A vulva is a vulva, a clitoris is a clitoris.

Post-op transwomen? So the lesbians you know presumably don't have sex with lesbians with a lady penis? This must restrict their transwoman dating pool since the vast majority of transwomen retain their penis. And this would lay them open to being labeled as transphobic, Stonewall would not approve of a blanket dismissal of pre-op transwomen.

No thank you

Most people in my circles are happy with the T in LGBTQ
That’s because of the circle you move in.
Most people I interact with are not happy about the T, but that’s because of the people I interact with.
The difference is that those I interact with accept that some males live as women without wanting to cause the problems that some males (transwomen) cause. They just don’t believe that they have changed sex.

Your no thank you?

Was that a response to

Every time you equate the word transwoman with being female (couching it in the corrupted terms ‘woman’ or ‘women’) you are wrong, but you keep doing it. That’s not open mindedness.

Or to
He knew he was male whatever he ‘looked like’.
She had asked for females.
Ergo he was wrong to go in there.

Or was it because you were open minded enough to admit both of the above?

Whichever, your response didn’t make sense.

Glorianny Mon 31-Oct-22 22:51:08

Interestingly the woman didn't object to male doctors. Her prejudice only seems to include nurses. Which rather makes the allegation that she is frightened of men questionable.

growstuff Mon 31-Oct-22 22:44:20

Incidentally, the consultant in my previous post was born Michael and is transexual. She has excellent reviews as a surgeon.

Galaxy

Sorry that wasnt aimed at you Lathyrus.

I didn’t for one minute think it was🤭🙂

Lathyrus Mon 31-Oct-22 22:43:06

I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep tonight after reading some of this.

😱

growstuff Mon 31-Oct-22 22:42:40

All this has nothing to do with this woman who claims her dignity wasn't respected. She has firm beliefs and was trying to make a point, which she succeeded in doing on social media, until it started to unravel. She didn't object to being cared for by men; she only objected to transexuals and was determined to make an issue.

Galaxy Mon 31-Oct-22 22:42:12

For ALL lesbians, being a lesbian means being sexually attracted to other women. “Other women” excludes TIMs, regardless of whether or not they have retained their male genitalia.
And I agree that TIFs are usually ignored in these discussions. That’s because they are women, even if fully transitioned.

I know lots of lesbians who are quite happy having sex with post-op trans women, without feeling it is a problem. A vulva is a vulva, a clitoris is a clitoris.

As for chips on shoulders, perhaps that was unkind (perhaps in some cases it isn't). All the same, for decades there's been a small but vocal subgroup of feminists who are quite open about sexual attraction taking second place to making a stand against the patriarchy by denying sex to men. Which of course is quite proper; nobody should be sold who they may or may not have sex with.

Hmm , I think youndontbreallybunderstand about same sex attraction if you believe ‘a vulva is a vulva”.

Am I alone in thinking that’s a very traditional male point of view🤔

Well yes of course. Like the woman I overheard at the posh tennis club the day after the referendum 'But I dont know anyone who voted leave'.
With my open mind I support lesbians who want to remain under the LGBTQ umbrella and those lesbians who want a seperate organisation to campaign for specific issues.

growstuff Mon 31-Oct-22 22:36:24

I hope "Teresa" doesn't need a hip operation at Princess Grace. She might get this consultant, whose patients have included the Queen Mother and Andy Murray.

Most people in my circles are happy with the T in LGBTQ

Especially the 3 million strong group of intersectional feminists I belong to

Younger people just don't bother with the platforms the GC use

It's just the truth

No it’s not truth. It’s your experience within the circles that you know.

Let’s just say it’s your truth.

VioletSky Mon 31-Oct-22 22:31:51

Also if you look at a platform like twitter, people choose who to follow.

So when I go on twitter I'm not going to see a bunch of GC posts.

So you can't objectively say "most people agree with xyz" when most people aren't going to see it in the first place

So it all very much depends on the circles you choose
