Is anyone else getting shorter?

For a while now I’ve been saying that Marks and Spencer’s regular length trousers are anything but regular. At a hospital appointment yesterday, it seems I have lost nearly four inches over the last few years! Strange that I’ve never noticed it with my other clothes.
I know some height loss is common, but this seems a lot. I take Alendronic Acid to prevent osteoporosis, so I’ll be interested to hear what the doc has to say when I see him/her next week.

But 3.75 and 4 inches is a lot, 2 inches is the average. More than that is often associated with osteoporosis or other health problem.

Nobody ever seems to measure me. I was about 5’ 9, but am definitely less now. It’s hard to tell because I can’t stand up really straight.

My once 6’4 brother, now 86, says he has lost at least 4 inches, probably more.

Thanks for bringing this up as I never measure any part of me.
Bit dismayed to find I'm 1 inch shorter . Huh!

I have had a diagnosis of Osteoporosis for 21 years, yet I haven't lost any height at all according to the nurse who measured me at my last Dexa scan.

Yes I'm a bit shorter in spite of the fact I wear a raised shoe on one foot - and my grandson is now sooooo tall!!!!!! smile

Has anyone any experience of a male condition called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. Basically an enlarged prostate which will need an operation to cut some away to improve the flow of urine. Nearly 2 year waiting list! Wondering how effective it is and the after effects. We've been given lots of printed info but would really the view of someone who's been through it.
Any advice appreciated.

You need to start your own thread MarinaL
Entitle it Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. In this way those who know anything about the subject will see it and hopefully respond.
For what it is worth my understanding is that it is a common op (referred to as a rebore amongst some), highly successful with few complications. Having to wait two years is a disgrace.

Women should check their height at least annually as any change is a possible sign of osteoporosis which needs to be nipped in the bud.

I was measured at my Annual Checkup recently and (so far) I’m still 5ft 5 inches.
I was told to expect some height loss in the coming years. I’m 70.
MarinaL there are other options apart from the op you suggested. Google the other options.
