Hello 👋

Here is the new thread!
Thank you to regular and irregular posters all.

Especially those such as Silverling and Charleygirl who have provided so much advise and support. (There are lots of other lovely posters, but too many to list).

As well as advice, there is also much wisdom and kindness.

I will link to the first and second threads below.

Wherever you are on your replacement journey, you are most welcome to join us here smile

Bingo! No 1 !

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 08:48:38

Fancythat started a thread about the malfunctioning Active List yesterday.
I admit that I am getting rather obsessive about it.
There have now been at least six threads about it (I have collated them all on the thread).
I have emailed HQ again about it, it was over a month ago that I last contacted them

I wonder if any of the other long term threads have the same problem,
From Malfunctioning hips and knees to malfunctioning GN systems..🥸

We are slipping fast....

Morning all hips/ kneesters.
Day 12, Emotional today, the sheer effort required to get myself washed and dressed has me wanting to howl,

downtoearth Mon 08-May-23 08:35:41

Euphoria that op had been done, has given way to the day on day tedium of gadgets that are meant to make my single life easier till full mobility hopefully restored, are never where they are meant to be,and when crutches slide to the floor when parked, and your grabber has fallen as well, the effort required to become inventive to retrieve said articles is becoming less than funny.

downtoearth Mon 08-May-23 08:36:53

I am breaking my whinging up into different posts to gain a place on the list to bemoan my angst

downtoearth Mon 08-May-23 08:40:52

In the pathetic hope that someone might converse with me as I am feeling sorry for myself.
Is this normal for day 12,post op aches and pains, swollen trotter like foot and ankle, and generally feeling down in the dumps

downtoearth Mon 08-May-23 08:41:18

Anyone

silverlining48 Mon 08-May-23 08:46:19

Morning downtoearth, here’s to another day. As time goes on you will find an exaggerated curtesy with operated leg sticking out straight behind helps when aids are out of reach unavailable and you need to pick something up.
My curtsy would not have embarrassed me had I been lucky enough to attend the coronation and proved invaluable post op,
You are on your own and it’s hard but every day you are another step closer to recovery.
Well done x

silverlining48 Mon 08-May-23 08:53:36

Why not ring a friend fir a chat or invite someone over, they might help with something which needs doing which you can’t manage yourself.

silverlining48 Mon 08-May-23 08:54:47

It’s me again.,.or else good idea to split your posts so we stand a chance on Active,

silverlining48 Mon 08-May-23 08:57:01

We are number 2 grin

FannyCornforth Mon 08-May-23 08:59:36

Hi downtoearth
I remember feeling absolutely ghastly too.
I was going to give you a heads up about it, but I thought it might be a bit of a downer.
Yes, a felt like crap for a good few weeks afterwards.
Then! I felt great, but that was quite short lived because I realised that I had additional problems which I couldn’t really understand, but of course now know it’s down The Odd Legs Issue.

I hope you feel better soon, don’t fight it, be kind to yourself.
Practice Self Compassion, treat yourself like you would a poorly, sad loved one
brewthanks and a gentle hug x

Thanks SL,cabin fever setting in.
I have an exercise sheet but looking aftermyself means that the exercises are performed throughout the day with the household things that need doing.
I have perfected the curtsey should our new sovereign and his missus pop round, when emptying dish washer and washing machine when the last sock gets tucked up the top.
I miss my shower, mine is over the bath, but have bought a seat to fix on bath,so hopefully if clips are removed wednesday that can happen.
I wish I knew if I was doing what I should be,or if I am allowed so many do/ and donts.

silverlining48 Mon 08-May-23 09:03:22

It’s quite major surgery and does take time to properly recover.
