Hello 👋

Here is the new thread!
Thank you to regular and irregular posters all.

Especially those such as Silverling and Charleygirl who have provided so much advise and support. (There are lots of other lovely posters, but too many to list).

As well as advice, there is also much wisdom and kindness.

I will link to the first and second threads below.

Wherever you are on your replacement journey, you are most welcome to join us here smile

The nurse changing the dressing on my knee advised using Vaseline once the dressing was off. It certainly kept it comfortable, can hardly see the scar now (from September 2021). I’m surprised as my skin doesn’t heal well. Perhaps check with your nurse downtoearth? It could be that mine had some ‘different’ ideas! I’d not want to encourage you to do anything that might cause harm.

Thanks Cornergran I dudnt have a lot of faith in the practice nurse, she didnt fill me with confidence.
I use zero double base gel as a mousturiser,so rubbed a bit of that on it.

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 09:15:17

Neither of my 2 posts above have appeared in Active. It’s a blooming miracle that we have been going for so long given the effort required to appear wjete others might find us.
Last try for today .... and POST

One Last Try

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 09:18:15

Hopeless! grin

You are trending now!

I love it when this thread hits the top of Active.

On advice of some people, I hit the Last Day rather than Active, most of the time.
Last Day is accurate.
Active is far from being so.

Morning all,thankyou for asking SLsmile

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 09:39:21

Going to do my normal split posts to keep us out there

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 09:45:58

Cant believe it is 4 weeks today that I had my op.
Yesterday sufferibg from cabin fever decided to take a bus to our nearest large town for a wander around the shops, and clicked up nearly 6,000 steps yesterday,so quite chuffed with myself.
I have been building steps gradually over last week or so.
It is a good time of year to have had my op.
Might take another bus ride later for a wander around another smaller town.
I have been so restricted because of poor mobility,I am like a kud let out of school early.
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the sunshine smile

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 09:55:49

That’s brilliant dte, well done you. It’s good to get outside and 6000 so soon is very good.
I should take my own advice and go out too.
Thanks fancy, I also feel joy when we are at No.1 on Active but we flip down so fast. We are already half way down so here we go....do we get the jackpot?

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 09:57:02

YES 🙌 grinwe do

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 12:51:29

Thank you SL had planned anothe bus journey, but several phone calls knocked that plan on the head, going to have a short walk up to Tesco to get a few things, and plan my getaway after an early appointment for a wound check tomorrow.
Hope the last stubborn bits have healedsmile

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 12:52:59

And last injection tomorrow night,I will not miss those my tummy has so many bruises.

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 14:27:40

Oh I remember the injections, I started off reluctantly, , but got used to it until the last few days when I was back to really hating them.
You are doing well and on the way to normality. Assume the pain has gone?
Hope all goes well tomorrow.

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 14:29:31

I think we all must get stubbirn bits, that havnt healed as well as the rest and you have reminded me I had one too. grin

fflur Wed 24-May-23 15:13:10

11 weeks post TKR and everything going well. Back to gentle chair yoga, hydrotherapy swimming and walking. Sometimes long 4 or 5 miles but often shorter because of other activities. At first we would drive to a flat soft walk such as a beach, riverside or canal. Lately though I can walk on my own from the house. I felt really good . However yesterday my non surgery leg buckled under me which was really frightening and uncomfortable. I hobbled to a bench and my husband went and got the car. I can't seem to get comfortable now, slept really badly, so I am tired, but my legs are restless and just uncomfortable. I know rest and ice etc will help but I've lost so much confidence and feel quite down. I see my osteopath next week, she is really good and will sort me out. I have mild arthritis in that leg doesn't need surgery. Don't feel I can leave the house alone now

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 18:27:14

I am sorry to hear your loss of con
fidence fflur.
It is that confidence to get up and get out there that motivates us,you must feel quite unnerved by it.
I havent had a knee, but a hip,I am very aware of the unevenness of the pavements, and how theycajoltyour good leg as well as your operated one.
Maybe your husband could come out with you for few times to regain your confidenceflowers

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 18:29:22

SL I doubt normal could ever be used to describe me,but whatever consitutes normal for me hopefully will be restored shortlygrin

silverlining48 Wed 24-May-23 19:23:50

Your normal Dte. smile

downtoearth Wed 24-May-23 19:48:23

Thankyou SL grin
