Skin tags are driving me crazy!

I have so many small skin tags around my neck which are driving me crazy. I succesfully removed a few large ones on my body by tying thread around them, then they dropped off a few weeks later. These are too small for that. I have bought so many so called ‘remedies’ off the internet. None of which worked! Is there any way of getting rid of them? . (GP surgeries used to offer this, but no longer do)

I know someone that had them removed at a beauticians, they used electrolysis.

I snipped all of mine off with surgical scissors. Tiny little sting with each one but none even bled.

Yes, we do the tying thing, for each other- when they are still small- works very well. You need to be two though, with small ones- one to pull on it, the other one to tie at the base.

Good job it worked- but a real risk of infection and scarring. Tying is a much safer option.

Tying is completely impossible. They are much too small!

Then you will have to wait, Too big or too small, tying does not work. You need to be able to get hold tight with tweezers and pull out, whilst other person ties.

I have had some around my neck too, I think constantly wearing chains/necklaces can cause them. There are a couple of beauty salons around here that remove them but it’s not cheap.

I wouldn't recommend snipping with scissors either, perhaps ask around locally to see if beauticians might remove them?

Apparently, exfoliation of the skin during bathing and showering is supposed to deter their development.

Thanks everybody. Shame there is no miracle solution you can buy to sort them out!

Skin tags especially around the neck are linked to Diabetes
or pre Diabetes. There are some videos on You Tube explaining the causes or Google skin tags. Hope this helps and not depresses

Use fine fishing line to tie the smaller tags.

It’s impossible to tie them when you live alone though! I’ve also tried lots of remedies online, the only one that works is a little pen type gadget which pops tiny elastic bands around them. But I found it a bit hit and miss, again they need to be a decent size and it’s easy to have the pen at a slight angle and miss - once a band has flirted off across the room they are too small to ever find again!

I had one on my tummy. I tied cotton around it tightly. It fell off after about 3 weeks. Absolutely painless

I have loads and hate them! I don’t wear necklaces so for me that hasn’t caused them. Dh had a few removed by GP years ago and I had one removed from my boob but that service is no longer offered. Didn’t think about a beautician as a possibility- it would be worth the money for comfort.

Yes, halfpint1, my dietitian daughter recently told me about this link with diabetes. I am plagued by skin tags as was my mother. One was catching on my collars and my GP removed it by freezing it off. I woke next morning to find my neck drenched in blood so I shan't be tempted to use scissors on mine any time soon. Fortunately I was able to stench the flow with tissues and conceal the gore before DH woke up! The GP was reassuring that the bleeding did not have a sinister cause. I have annual blood tests because of angina but so far they show no diabetes.

Fund a beauty therapist who does advanced electrolysis. Had loads removed by an excellent lady using this method. Very quick and no scarring.

I have had this problem and asked the pharmacist at Boots (about 3 years ago) and she highly recommended a product called Cryotag. It was not cheap (around £25, I think) but it has been a miracle for me (also, living alone). It is hard to describe, but basically there is a cotton-swab type applicator which you load (moisten) from a canister and dot it onto the skin tag. I think it is liquid nitrogen like used in a doctor's office. I applied it two or three times and the skin tag dried up and fell off. I still have it and use it when another one pops up, so cost effective in the long run.
BTW - I will add that I read somewhere that the skin tags can be caused by repeat irritation to the skin, i.e. a thin chain I wore around my neck all the time. I stopped wearing it and the problem pretty much stopped.
