Just one thing

I enjoy Dr Michael Mosley’s Radio 4 programme ‘Just One Thing’. For those who don’t know it he suggests one thing to do to make a difference to our health and well being.

For example - an apple a day, brushing teeth twice a day...
Simple obvious yes, but good common sense and interesting.

I see a lot of wisdom here on Gransnet.

That leads me to ask have you ‘Just one thing’
to suggest to enhance health and well being?

Take a probiotic each day & read Gransnet.

I always laugh when I read recommendations to eat nuts everyday for health because if I had a walnut or a cashew nut, I would probably die! Anaphylaxis is a real nuisance because nuts seem to be used more often in cooking, cakes etc these days. I prefer a walk, dark chocolate and lots of laughing!

😆 lol. Yes he's so smug. Plus his ' diets' are dangerous for so many ppl with certain health conditions x

(Could you guess that I hate Michael Mosley’s smug “Just one thing” series?)

I don't like him on the T.V. either with his smug look. I could suggest one thing he could disappear up Maw.
A lot of the ideas on here are really good and I might take one or two up.

He's just smug, wacky and absurd, to me.

No snacks between meals (unless you have a medical condition that requires snacking).

I wish I could still go for walks, exercise, go swimming etc.
I do eat healthily. No junk food or takeaways etc. But that hasn’t stopped me getting osteoarthritis in every joint.
I have been anaemic all my long life. Take Gentle iron eat spinach etc.

for myself, listen to J S Bach every morning. whilst I listen to that my mind is totally concentrating on that and blocks out all the thoughts and worries of the day to come. Just allow the music to be everything for that short time. So for other people it could be a totally different piece of music but whatever allows you to just take that deep breath and be calm before you set off on your busy day. There is also a wonderful piece called Spiegel im Spiegel , which is very soothing too

Try and get a good nights sleep, hard as it can be at times.

Volunteer.
I do some "hard" volunteering with a charity, befriending a child whose life is restricted by the home situation. And I do some "soft" volunteering, stewarding at a local historic monument.
So I get out I and see people, and I hope I help a bit. I don't know if that counts as just one thing.

Look in the mirror and smile at yourself.
Then say in your head
I love you

Surround yourself with people who raise you up and make you smile and are with you through the good, the bad and the ugly. True friends really matter. There comes a point when you recognise quality over quantity!

Laughter is super important too!

Stand up talk rather than sit down slumped. I read my kindle books and watch YouTube videos standing up.

Tall not talk!
