For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.

For newcomers, there are some people who post regularly, some occasionally, and some like to read. so some post will be "carrying on" discussions, but new sharing always welcome.

Nadateturbe Oh I'm so sorry for your awful night. Nightime is the worst time to feel ill and being sick I think. Ginger tea is good idea for nausea. Really hope you're feeling better by now. No worries about suggestion of scooter. Its good that we can suggest things gor others that we may not have thought about. It would be nice if your friend and her DHlived closer as you get on so well.
Doodle Hope your husband is feeling better today. We had a few covid tests by but I expect the pharmacies are still selling them-a good idea to still test. We've had our flu jabs today so crossed fingers we won't have side affects. DH still bery achy and foot still swollen but only had the steroids a couple of dys. Stepper sounds a good idea for your knees. Dont overdo it though. Tried to use my exercise bike a few dys ago but wasnt having it.
Scaredycat Hope your sore arm isnt too stiff today. They usually give me one too. Had mine this morning - so far so good. It was the GP who have us them and she remembered us from Monday. Told her that her referral for urgent appt was going to be February and she was quite shocked. Told her DH now taking steroids and DH and other GP assuming it's Polymyalgia as cant wait that long for Rheumatologist. Just hoping it's right. Yes I'm feeling a lot more like my old self and glad I started taking the ADs too.
HVDY There's a 'trampolining place on outskirts of our village now and its a hit with lots of children. Glad youve had a nice day today with your family. We used to pick up son' s dog and take him for walks sometimes. He was a Labrador and I loved him so much.
EllieAnneCandy**Whiff**Allsorts**Nanny Hope youve all neen ok today.
Wyllow Love to you as always. Hope youre looking after yourself. Large hug.

DH still with aches and swollen foot but we both managed a 10 min walk on beach this afternoon. It was so windy with chill North Sea wind so glad I put my Parka on. I used DHs hospital metal stick. It had holes all the way down and whisted tunes like a recorder most of the time as the wind blew! Some people turned to see where the 'music' was coming from. The grey and white clouds in a vast sky was awesome. We couldnt walk for long though so sat on this granite covered disused pipe on sand. I thought of all BDs and how grateful for the prayers and good wishes from all over the past yr. Im grateful for a few dys without the bad pain even though upset at no cause being found. I'm feeling better in spirit though and hoping /praying so much that Wyllow will start to too. X

nadateturbe Sun 24-Sept-23 20:39:20

Scaredycat hope your arm feels better tomorrow and no other side effects. ADs seem to be very successful, judging by BD. I'm glad they help you. Isn't it good how the stigma of using scooters is disappearing. they can make such a difference to quality of life.
You've had another lovely day with your family HVDY. Trampolining is fun. I used to do it.
Sweetpeasue I'm so glad you felt more cheerful today. Well done both of you on managing a walk. Nature is awesome, isn't it. You are prayed for often.
I don't know what caused this. Have been in bed all day, but starting to feel better. When I feel nauseous I feel like I'm going to lose consciousness at the same time. Lasts for ages before I actually manage to be sick. Horrible. Poor husband who's just stScaredycat hope your arm feels better tomorrow and no other side effects.

Sweetpeasue I'm so glad you felt more cheerful today. Great description of your walk. I can just picture you both on the beach. you did well.. Nature is awesome, isn't it. You are prayed for often.

Sorry for short replies.arting to feel better had to sit bedside the bed for a long time. We all seem to be supporting each other!
Sorry for short replies.
Wyllow3 thinking of you, hoping you will feel better soon.
Hope your weekend was ok EllieAnne. Also Whiff Nanny Candy Doodle Nannyand anyone else on BD.

Doodle Sun 24-Sept-23 21:29:16

Knitting has made my wrist feel a bit painful so I might give it a rest for a while. DH has been a bit better today so I’m hoping he won’t get a bad cold. Did a Covid test and he was ok. He’s off for his next Covid jab tomorrow. Had a lazy day today and not done much at all. Had a catch up with DS1 and finished a book that certainly had a twist at the end.
nadateturbe NY cheesecake is really just a very creamy vanilla one I think. Yes we were wondering if they still sell kits too. I’ve got one box left,
Yes my DHs leg was a big blood blister after he knocked it. It left an open wound that needs dressing.
Pleased you had a nice visit with your friends. It’s good to have some different company and a chat. Likewise, I stick to a few close friends and family. I’m not very outward going.
Sorry to hear from your second post that you’ve been ill and nauseous. I hate that feeling. Glad you are starting to feel a little better. Hope hat ever caused it has worked itself out of your system now. A good nights sleep should help.
HVDY poor girl. No surprised she went off like that. Her mum and dad don’t sound as though they care about her much. Good you had another lovely day with your family. Sounds like the trampolining was fun. What sort of dog is it? I bet thé girls like having a dog around. I always wanted one as a child but couldn’t because of where we lived.
Tiramisu is DHs favorite pud. He’d be jealous.
Scaredycat I agree with you about the poor girl. As you say, at least she’s safe. I too thought HVDYs SIL was older.
Sorry your arm is sore and you’re not feeling too good, did you have both the jabs on the same day? Sometimes the flu one makes you feel a bit off too.
It was sunny here too but DH didn’t feel like going for a walk so we stayed in and watched a film. Had dinner at lunchtime for a change and then a lazy afternoon. Hope you enjoyed your walk.
Sweetpeasue hope you don’t suffer from the jabs. Yes still early days for the steroids but I hope your DHs will benefit from them soon. I tend to do 6 steps with each foot on my stepper about 6 times a day. I am taking it easy as even that makes me worn out.
I’m glad you managed a short beach walk. I’m sure it did you both some good. I love thé sea. You are lucky to have it close by. Your musical stick made me laugh 🤣. You’ve discovered a new instrument. Glad you are finding the ADs help. It makes a difference to each day if your spirits are a bit lighter. Please for you and Scaredycat
Wyllow we are all concerned about you. You seem to be struggling so much. I Hope your sister is keeping an eye on you or your son. Sending hugs.
Ellie Anne hope the weekend hasn’t been too long for you and you’ve managed to get out.
Candy have you been at your caravan. Weather not been bad has it?
Nanny I often think of you in my prayers. I Hope you and your son are coping.
Whiff have you started getting your PIP yet?
Allsorts and all BD sleep well and take care.

Sweetpeasue Sun 24-Sept-23 21:31:28

Nadateturbe Your nausea sounds really awful and that feeling that you'll lose consciousness is most extraordinary. Perhaps it will be worth telling your Dr - do you think it could be any medication you're taking. Of course you could be feeling 'run down' and overtired with your ME condition. Please dont worry about replying to everyone. Its absolutely not necessary and no-one expects it at all. Thankyou for all of your kind prayers and I do wish you a restful night and hooe you will wake geeling better tomorrow. x

Candy6 Sun 24-Sept-23 22:29:03

Evening all, just caught up with you all at last. I’ve read intermittently but not had the chance to respond before now.
HVDY I’m glad the girl was found and I hope she gets the help she needs. A worrying time for all I’m sure. You sound like you had a nice day with your family. They are the best times I think and are to be treasured. I hope your SiL gets sorted soon, bless her, so young too, I’d assumed she was older. I love tiramisu 😋.
Scaredycat hope the after effects of your jabs have eased. Nice to hear of your dear friend getting some pleasure from what must be a difficult life.
Sweetpeasue I’m glad you’re feeling a little better and managing to do things. So nice of you to think of your aunt amongst all the problems you’ve been through. I hope you’re not too troubled with any side effects from your jabs. Hope your DH’s steroids kick in for him soon. Your walk sounded lovely.
Doodle nice that your and your DH are able to help each other. Hope the stepper helps you. Hope you enjoyed your apple turnover. Don’t feel guilty, you can get back on your diet tomorrow after a well earned treat. Hope your DH is better too. Yes, we’ve been to our caravan only for 1 night though. We couldn’t go until yesterday morning as we had GS overnight on Friday but we had a lovely day yesterday. We woke up this morning to torrential rain though so came home where the weather was better. I went for a swim this afternoon which did me good mentally.
Nadaterturbe sorry your outing with DH wasn’t as you’d want it to be but good you caught up with a friend. I think it’s sometimes hard to have long conversations when you’re together all the time. Yet me and and my friend can speak for hours when we meet up. I love a good chat. Sorry you’ve been poorly too. Glad you are feeling better this evening and I hope you continue to improve.
Wyllow nice to see you popping in. I hope you are improving. We’re all thinking of you and hope]ing you’re back to your old self very soon.
Ellie Anne hope you’ve got through the weekend ok.
Love to all and Whiff, Allsorts & Nanny plus anyone else I may have missed. Night all xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 24-Sept-23 22:33:07

SweetpeaSue It must be lovely to live near a beach. I can just imagine you with that whistling walking stick. I bet you were like the Pied Piper grin. I hope you and your husband have a decent sleep tonight.

nadateturbe I should have added that only the kids went on the trampolines (it's a massive place called Red Kangaroo, in Nottingham). They got very hot - sweaty little beasts grin). We say drinking tea and watching from a distance. The place was packed. I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Doodle The girl has been going off the rails for months - smoking weed, stealing money, staying out until midnight, etc. Son's GF's dog is beautiful - a Husky/Collie cross. She hardly ever barks, apparently, and she's very well-trained. The GDs would like a dog, but it wouldn't be possible, everyone's out all day. I hope your wrist isn't too bad. Don't overdo things. Hope you and your DH have a good sleep.

Hope ALL BDers have a restful night. Just going to leave some food out for the fox/foxes. Chicken portions, hard-boiled eggs, and jam sandwiches smile x

Wyllow3 Sun 24-Sept-23 23:08:01

Night night to BD' through all. xx

Sweetpeasue Mon 25-Sept-23 13:30:19

Candy Glad you got 1 nice day at caravan. When the rain is like that you may as well get back to where the weather is better. No side effects as yet to jab, thanks just stiff arm which is common. I must be good to be able to swim. Think I was frightened off a bit when we were vitually thrown in the water at school. Hope you have a good day at work.
HVDY Love your image of the Pied Piper 😂. Did the foxes come for the food? I hope your GDs sister can get back on track - she sounds so unhappy. I believe that this weed is quite easily available now - but it can lead to stronger stuff.

DH still no better at all. I do hope the right thing is being done by assuming it Polymyalgia. Foot still swollen and fingers and hands ache as well as usual Polymyalgia areas. Not feeling as good today with nagging tummy pain. We've both managed to get grass cut between us and Ive done bit of ironing.
Hope everyone is managing to have a decent day.

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 25-Sept-23 14:10:16

SweetpwaSue The foxes came (all the food went). 12 year old GD messaged me at 11 last night - police had been called because the 15 year old and her mates were drunk sad. She's been on the wrong track for some time - I feel it's all a cry for help, but it's affecting our GC too, with all this unhappiness and disruption.

Aren't the steroids having any effect on your husband yet? I've just rang our surgery to find out what's happening with DH's peak flow readings, handed in a week ago. Told GP will be in touch (not convinced). You've been busy. I went to aqua aerobics, then pub for brunch with my friend, and the post office. DH has done nothing and hasn't even had a shower yet. x

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 25-Sept-23 15:23:09

How have all other BDers been today? DH eventually had a shower grin, so I cleaned the bathroom afterwards and now I'm going to prepare tonight's dinner - roast chicken etc. Hope ALL BDers have been ok x

Sweetpeasue Mon 25-Sept-23 16:06:45

HVDY Such a difficult situation and completely understand how it must be affecting your GDs too. I also have a young person in the family who has taken the 'wrong track' and it can be devastating for families and extremely difficult to turn around. So sorry.
No change at all in DH. Could always dress first thing but can just about get dressing gown on getting out of bed. If no change by Friday we'll be getting back to GP though tbh I'd rather go to private Rheumatologist if GP isn't certain its Polymyalgia. When I had it my pains and stiffness left miraculously on 3rd day of steroids. Googling it the average time for improvement on steroids is about 4 dys. DH 4th day today.

Scaredycat Mon 25-Sept-23 18:46:26

Nadateturbe- hope all those horrible nausea feelings have subsided now- it must be so unpleasant.
My arms are better thanks but yesterday I became so tired I fell asleep early evening and then slept til 7 this morning- that never happens but I feel fine today.
Hope you sleep well tonight.
SweetPeaSue- your walk sounded lovely- did you have a trail of children behind you like the pied piper? It must be wonderful to have the beach so close- it does your spirits such good to just sit and watch the beauty.
Hope DH steroids are kicking in today - if not it might be a good idea for peace of mind to have a private appt.
Doodle- good idea to rest your wrist - you have done so well with it.
Hope DH feels ok after his jab- was it just Covid or flu as well?
I love a book with a twist and an” I didn’t see that coming” end. Sometimes you really miss a book when you,ve finished don’t you.
It was a nice walk thanks - but completely wiped me out- maybe not the best idea straight after the jabs!!
Candy- that was a nice long post- sorry you had to cut your weekend short but I expect heavy rain is not much fun in a caravan.
At least you were able to get a swim in- do you meet up with friends at the pool?
Hope you had a good day at work today.
HVDY- it’s such a shame that your young GDs are getting affected by the older girls behaviour- I expect it scares them sometimes.
I bet your SonsGF dog has beautiful eyes- what a gorgeous mix of breeds.
Foxy had a good meal, last night- do you think he leaves the jam sandwich til last like a pudding?
Your day sounded nice and busy- are you legs less uncomfortable now the weather is cooler.
Enjoy your roast.
Wyllow- thinking of you and remember we all care so much for youx
Love to all those mentioned and those notx

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 25-Sept-23 19:19:36

SweetpeaSue Perhaps your husband might start feeling better tomorrow, if it takes a few days for the steroids to have an effect. I hope so. What dose is he on?

ScaredyCat My legs do feel less painful now that the weather is cooler, thanks. The dog is really gorgeous, and so very well-behaved. She doesn't bark, jump up or lick faces (I hate that). You had a good, long sleep last night! You must have needed it.

Candy6 Nice that you at least managed to have a swim. Does your caravan park place close for the winter?

Doodle Mon 25-Sept-23 19:22:00

Evening all. DH had his Covid jab this afternoon and has been asleep most of the time since then.
Candy I loved my apple turnover. Funny really as I don’t like cream that much but I do love the combination with apple. Can’t remember the last time I had one. It’s a good thing your caravan is close so you can get to it without too much travel, that will make you have more use of it I’m sure. Hope you had fun with your DGS. Glad you enjoyed your swim.
Scaredycat I think if you have a long sleep it’s your body’s way of telling you it needs it. Glad you feel a bit better today.
DH’s jab was today and he’s been a bit sleepy. He says his arm aches now. It was just Covid. Flu next month
Yes, I agree , some books you want to know the outcome but still want the story to continue. 😊
Have you been out today? We only went for DHs jab and nothing else. Just get back to walking again soon.
Sweetpeasue I’m sorry your DH isn’t feeling any better. Sounds like you are both trying to help each other. You should know by Friday if the steroids are making any improvement I would have thought. Must be so hard for you both. So many are now thinking of private consultations as what else can you do with such long waits. Quality of life is important.
HVDY I’m sorry this is having an impact on your GDs too but at least they have you there as a stable influence and it sounds as though they have a good bond with you. From what you’ve said about the other girl it looks as though neither her mum nor dad are taking care of her it’s no wonder she’s drinking and getting into trouble. Poor girl needs help.
I’ve done a few bits today. Ironing, dusting tidying round. Hope you had a nice time with your friend. I love roast chicken………is it for you and DH or the foxes 🤣🤣🤣 🦊
Wyllow in our thoughts as always.
Early start for us tomorrow. Got nurses appointment as follow up on his leg. I really hope the dressings can come off now.

Doodle Mon 25-Sept-23 19:22:43

nadateturbe how are you feeling today? Hope not so nauseous .

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 25-Sept-23 19:45:40

Doodle Our GDs have always got our family and their dad (Son1), for stability. The mum hasn't always been great, but is doing her best (not THE best, but her best) now. I don't cook the fox's chicken now, he has it raw grin. There's some Yorkshire pudding mix left, so I might have to have a pancake soon. I hope your husband gets on alright tomorrow and that his leg is improving.

nadateturbe Mon 25-Sept-23 21:16:58

Feel better today 🙂. Actually made it to art.
Doodle good idea to rest your wrist. Glad your husband is a bit better. The open sore seems to be healing very slowly. Who would have thought it would be such a problem. What book did you just finish?
I am reading 2 atm. Still Life by Sarah Winman and Promise Me, Jill Mansell.
Your lazy day sounded lovely.
You're doing well with the steps.
It's difficult to build up stamina when you're not very well.
Sweetpeasue I don't know the cause at all, which is why I rarely eat out. First time it happened in hospital in Spain, (long story) I passed out and woke up vomiting as they liftedme on to a bed.. 3 years since it happened so fingers crossed, another 3 yrs.
I'm sorry you're both feeling so ill after having a good day yesterday. The jab wouldn't help. I suppose your husband will have to give the steroids time before going back to GP?
You did well getting the grass cut. I do hope tomorrow is better foryouboth. .
Candy hello. Glad you got to the caravan. Often we only get for short spells, what with appointments, commitments or health, but it's always somewhere nice to get away to. It's good when it's not too far away.
A chat with a female friend whom you know well really cheers you up. We've been friends for 67 years.
My husband is much better thankfully I was so worried, just need to tackle the BP.

I hope everyone is having a good evening.
I haven't answered everyone yet but not ignoring.

Doodle Mon 25-Sept-23 21:19:05

I hope the girl gets some help. If her mums trying she has a chance but her father telling her he doesn’t want anything to do with her must hurt,
Ooh if you’ve got Yorkshire Pudding mix left please make some for me. I love Yorkies. 😋
Thank you, I’ll let you know how he gets on.

Doodle Mon 25-Sept-23 21:21:06

nadateturbe glad you’re feeling better and made it to art class. The book was called Sweet Little Lies but I can’t remember off hand who wrote it. I never expected the ending.
Good to hear your DH is feeling better. I

Wyllow3 Mon 25-Sept-23 22:06:21

Sorry to hear of family troubles and small gains. Love to you all. Things still to bad to feel I can write xxx

nadateturbe Mon 25-Sept-23 22:17:47

Sorry, back tomorrow, eyes need a screen break. Sleep well everyone. xx

Sweetpeasue Mon 25-Sept-23 22:33:17

Scaredycat You really must have needed that sleep. Yes you understand about nature helping to lift spirits. I so wish DH and I will be able to do a 'proper' walk again. Feels so many set backs.
Doodle Yes quality of life is important and it doesn't take that long for a downward spiral. I still can't help but remember what I was like before that op went wrong. No pain. Now DH has this problem. Trying not to feel sorry for ourselves though seems one thing after another. I know you and DH have had so much to cope with yourselves. We need to keep hope alive and stay strong. Hope your DHs leg is healing.
Nadateturbe You must have been v scared when you were in another country when you first experienced the loss of consciousness and nausea. Hope it wont happen again. You will have been shocked this second time.
Glad your DH is feeling better.
Wyllow Glad you have come in tonight. Doesnt matter if you cant write much. We like to know you're still here and reading. You may not be going to Gym, I dont know, but hope you might be able to do some of your yoga at home. It may help you mentally. Wish there was something I could say that would help. Sending a hug.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 26-Sept-23 12:03:59

How's everyone getting on today? We had a thunderstorm earlier, and the rain really poured. It's brightening up now, so I've make some bread (packet mix) and done some washing - will the excitement never end grin. Hope ALL BDers are ok x

Sweetpeasue Tue 26-Sept-23 13:28:10

'I' m ok thanks HVDY. I've made Blueberry Muffins(no one to eat them as son on holiday-DH can only eat so many) so froze some. Chicken n Leek casserole in Slow cooker. See lady whose meant to be good with muscularskeletal issues about knee later. Strangely mixed weather here but no thunderstorms.
Hoping everyone is ok today.

nadateturbe Tue 26-Sept-23 17:24:56

Scaredycat you had a great sleep on Monday. I'm sure it did you good. Maybe the jabs made you extra tired.
Re books, yes, when it's a very good book, I want to stretch the end out.🙂

Doodle hope your husband is recovered from vaccine.
Glad you enjoyed your apple dessert. When you don't have something often, it really is a treat to be savoured.
Thanks for info about book. I'm surprised at how many ladies like thrillers. I can't do tension in books or tv..
How did appointment go for your husbands leg?
HVDY I do envy you your energy, and your cooking abilities, in spite of your painful legs. If I lived close I'd be begging for an invite to dinner! I'm glad the cooler weather is helping.
Terrible situation with the young girl, and it's effects on your GDs. The poor girl sounds in need of love and guidance. It's amazing how people who wouldn't be accepted for fostering or adoption are allowed to bring up children without supervision. I included her in my prayers.
Sweetpeasue your poor husband, How is he today?
Let us know how your appointment went.
But you made blueberry muffins. That's a positive. 🙂. I could help you eat those 😋
The sick/fainting episodes have happened about 6 times. I tried to explain to doctor once. He didn't understand. But we all live with problems...

It's clear day here, not too warm.
Thinking of everyone. Apologies to those not mentioned. You were all remembered in my prayers. Hope today is being kind to you.
