How to stop pee-ing so often!

I've been having various treatments over the last couple of years, as I get up 4 or 5 times a night to pee. I've tried 'jude' supplements and have had 2 rounds of bladder botox with increasing strengths, to no avail.

I'm now using amytriptiline and have been on it for months now with no effect.

As I'm recovering from hip replacement surgery, getting up so many times is painful and inconvenient. In addition, it seems like when I go to lie down for a rest, I can doze for an hour, then I need to pee!

Fed up of not drinking caffeine, no red wi e, no alcohol, but keep drinking lots of water which makes me pee anyway.

Does anyone know if I can sort this out? I'm 60 and in menopause.

TIA

TopGunner. It’s called a Radar Key.

I don't think that is the one, it is a card you carry from a bowel and incontinence firm. I have been online looking for it but I will keep trying.

I had a radar key for my husband but it was useless as many were out of order and a lot had closed down.

No idea then. My Mum had bowel cancer but I never heard of an alternative to the radar key.

I found it, this is the website I was looking for. I am going to get it sorted today.

Just to frustrate things, the last 2 nights I've woken up once! Up at about 4am and then at 0730, which is pretty much normal get up time! Why does my body do this? As far as I can tell, I'm doing the same old routine so nothing changed.

Having spoken to a private GP via my DHs healthcare line, she went back to the "don't drink after 6pm" line. Almost impossible when you eat at 8pm or go for a fast walk or regular exercise and need water!

Oh, well. I can try I suppose and just have a glass of water to hand at night time when I wake up dehydrated and with a headache, which happens if I don't drink.

I have also just invested in an "in-house sleep test" monitor from a local company that can diagnose sleep apnoea, as well as collecting stats re BP, o2, respiration, etc. If it rules out apnoea then that's a start.

I'll let you know how it goes and recommend it, if it comes up with anything useful!

Another vote for Solifenicin.

Still have a bit of a cold so just taken a Max Strength Hot Lemon drink. When I took one last week it was my best night.

After my Hot Lemon drink about 9pm last night I woke up just once at 2..30pm. Went to the loo and slept right through until after 8am.

Primrose53 : as it happens I love the taste of lemsip max. Maybe I'll just try one and see if I sleep through...

I can only commiserate as I have the same problem. Up sometimes six times. I had pelvic floor surgery for a cystocele high I thought would help, but which hasn’t really. I suffer from endless UTIs too. I am going to try D Mannose which has been recommended. I will think of you all when I wake up at 1, 3, 5 etc! X

Bit of improvement here - the tablets from GP must be helping as I have slept right through on two nights. Either that or I am so shattered with my husband in hospital (day 13) that I am out for the count. Bursting when I wake though.

Sallywally1 That is so bizarre. I wake at those times most every night, Perhaps it is a bio-rhythm thing. How strange.

What I don’t understand is that I can spend all day in the garden without needing the loo but, as soon as I lie down to go to sleep I’m awake every couple of hours. What’s even worse is that my need for the loo is now working its way into my dreams.

Hi my husband takes 10mg of solifencin and has done for about a year now. It’s helping but not greatly.
I’m concerned because I read something the other day about it causing a 30% increase in dementia a lot more than anticipated. He is having memory problems and difficulty finding words. Anyone read about this ?

Hmm think 8pm far too late to be eating.
And then going for a run?! And drinking lots of water?
Perhaps eat at 6.30 and eat a lighter meal and stop drinking at 6pm.
Also get checked for type 2 diabetes.
