A year ago I had a total duct excision to remove a lump (luckily benign) under my nipple. I’ve had a lot of nerve pain since. GP said it could take a year to settle so I wasn’t worried. Six weeks ago I had the Covid jab and the glands u see my armpit swelled up. After 3 weeks it was still tender and my breast was sore. I saw GP who said it was probably the jab but to come back in 2 weeks and she’d examine my breast if it was still swollen and hurting. I have just seen her and she was bright and breezy until she examined me then her attitude changed and she has referred me back to the fast track Breast Cancer clinic. I am very worried as I’ve been feeling awful for ages but thought it was just the result of the op. She said as well as the armpit lump she could feel a large area of thickening in the bottom part of my breast. I examine myself every month for lumps (I discovered the last one) and haven’t felt anything. Just asking for a hand hold really. Anyone had ‘thickening’ and sore lymph glands?

So sorry to hear this, must be a worry, haven't had this myself but am sure someone will be along soon who has.
Wishing you all the best.

There was another thread, last week, that had some encouraging stories, and some kind advice while waiting. I hope you and Primrose53 will be seen quickly. 🤞

This is the other thread AutumnColours - www.gransnet.com/forums/health/1342272-Mammogram-recall

Thinking of you. Fingers crossed there is a benign explanation.

I can only say that you should take on board how many people are totally cured from breast cancer today compared to a few years ago.
Research has progressed by leaps and bounds in the past few years.
Positivity is all important now, so many are diagnosed very early now which makes such a huge difference.
I know I am lucky to be at the stage I am and I would have been sceptical at being told the same but it is true.
I am 25 years post diagnosis, surgery and radiotherapy.
I wish you all the very best.

Rooting for you both.
I had thickening years ago that I had checked out. GP said it can occur at particular time of the monthly cycle.

I had thickening on the right breast last year . Was fast tracked, and only waited ten day’s thank goodness. Had a scan and examination Dr said it was nothing to worry about, it’s caused by overactive milk ducts. I’m 67 ! Good luck to you and Primrose.

The joy of the breast cancer clinic is that you have all the tests at the same time and you pretty much get an idea what it is before you leave. I am 5 years clear now after a mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy.

I have never had this, but there are many people around me who have been or are suffering from cancer and benign tumors. I am very sorry that this is happening to you, but as life shows, a lot of people have cancer now, especially women.
