Regretting complaining about partner to family.

We had a big row a few months ago and I bitterly complained to a family member about my partner.
We have since resolved the difference and I now regret telling the third party because they have now developed a grudge against my partner and won’t have anything to do with him.
I wish at the time of the row I had managed my feelings a bit better and not gone on such a rant, I exaggerated and wasn’t entirely fair in what I said about him.
Anyone else had this and how did it get sorted if at all?

I don’t have a partner, but I have sometimes complained about one d.I.l. to the other. Big mistake ! They are best friends - but I am an outspoken type of person and can’t help it. We still talk, we still see each other.

Maybe you should say exactly what you have said in this post to your family member..

I think we all do it. I have said all sorts of things to others when I’ve needed to rant only to regret it afterwards.
Just don’t put anything in writing though. I once sent an email to a friend grumbling about a relative of mine. The friend and the relative both share the same first name and afterwards I was terrified I’d sent the email to the wrong one. Fortunately I hadn’t. It taught me a lesson.

pascal30, I have, several times! I do wonder if they didn’t like him much in the first place.

That must have been a heart stopping moment.

No I don’t if we have a tiff it stays between us, everyone has disagreements life would be very mundane if we never disagreed on certain matters. Ive never felt the need to share with family
