Dental trauma ongoing

Have had severe dental issues this past 12mths.. had to go to Dental hospital after my NHS dentist couldn’t remove a root pulp from a molar which had been filled and crowned (expensive) and after viewing x-rays 3 upper molars needed to be removed or replaced…
So after a long procedure of inhalation and sedation @hospital, pulp removed,,,and healed well within a week but now, last Monday was supposed to have 2remaining molars removed- 1tooth broke off and exerted so much pressure on my face was nearly screaming. Whole right side of face swollen and on Saturday noticed a yellow purple bruise on lower face and all my lower teeth on this side are sensitive .

I’ve had all my wisdom teeth removed and a couple of others so know it takes time for healing … but I’ve never had facial bruising..has anyone else experienced this.
Have contacted the surgery only to find he’s on holiday and there is no other NHS dentist to see me till 10FEB.
I also queried why I still had a sharp shard of tooth in mouth and what happens to that ? Receptionist said she asked dentist and told me it would be ok once healed over??? Surely this is not ok?
Am planning on phoning surgery tomorrow to speak to practice manager feel I can’t cope with more appointments and the pain and don’t trust the dentist I was seeing.
Anyone had an experience I’ve described… this past week I’ve been in a fog of pain relief and warm salt water gargling to prevent any infection but know I’m going to need replacements on upper right side as no pre molars or molars left - . have taken photos of face so if I don’t get to surgery which I actually don’t even want to go into, so they can see..😢

4allweknow thank you for your comment… am seeking a 2nd opinion if possible… there’s a huge shortage of NHS dentists in my area/? England.. when you say ‘not qualified’ have strong suspicions that this s maybe the case… as he couldn’t remove the root pulp and thinking will have to be referred back to hospital… apparently he is now having ‘time off’ altho previously I was told he’s on holiday for couple of weeks so couldn’t see him for 2wks..
am healing and managing pain better but do have a ?for you- if my notes say it was a brutal extraction..wouldn’t the dentist have a duty of care to check in with patient who’s had this experience?? Just wondering 🤔

Tweezers.. hats off to you.. couldn’t possibly do this given the state of mouth/ jaw… you must be made of iron Lady

My sympathies. I’m waiting for a failed tooth/abscess procedure to be sorted in hospital. I was left in incredible pain after the failed procedure and lack of care. Despite going back in a terrible state, nothing happened and I ended up in A&E when the right pain relief was given to me.

I was in such a state, my DD travelled up from the south and was outraged at my lack of care.
I now have a new private dentist who will remove the remains of the tooth and (thankfully quiet at the mo) abscess if it flares up (at a cost), but as I am on the list already for the NHS hospital, I hope I don’t need to spend the money.

What a business!

hollysteers feel your pain…🌻
Hope it settles down quickly.. what pain relief ru taking? I had an abscess problem start of lockdown and despite 2months worth of antibiotics- had to be seen @emergency clinic 2mths later and they couldn’t drain it completely so I said to take tooth out as felt I was going insane with pain ..
unfortunately this infection- which I named mouth Covid.. was so severe pain relief didn’t help 100% but I seriously think it affected all my upper molars on the side which I’m having problems with.. 4 teeth have been affected.. now am just waiting for 100% healing before I try and visit a new dentist to see/hear their opinion on why I’ve been left with a shard/chip of tooth from last extraction 2wks ago .. and will need a set of 4teeth denture or do without 😢

Yes dental pain is agonising affects your whole life

It was the simple combination of paracetamol then ibuprofen at intervals that calmed it down Bea. I didn’t realise I could take ibuprofen with high blood pressure.
I wish you all the best for your treatment in the future, mits no fun👍

do you have a Dental Hospital anywhere near you? It sounds like you need emergency treatment..
