UPDATE
Some 6 weeks on, after some terrible times following a bleed to the brain, my friend's Husband has been able to move to a wonderful Rehab Unit where specialised staff can't do enough to assist with the recovery of all patients in the Unit.
In hospital it was something of a rollercoaster ride - to put it mildly - but he tried so hard not to lose hope and has been greatly spurred on by the love and efforts of his Wife and family, the visits and wishes of good friends and certainly by the support so kindly shown by Gransnetters.
He passed his 'Swallowing' exams with flying colours, he could then do without a feeding tube, he can sit up unaided, is helped with specially targeted exercises, is able to sit out in a beautiful garden, can speak much more clearly and enjoy conversations with visitors. This week he has been able to move his arm; and today his leg, and life has become easier with proper food which has helped regain some of the weight lost.
Today, having been told that he can now eat and drink all food - no restrictions - he celebrated with Fish & Chips for supper !
You can imagine the relief which his Wife is beginning to feel, with at last some optimism for further improvement.
She wanted me to tell you all of her gratitude - to each and every person who responded with prayers, candles, well wishes, hope, and kind and positive remarks - thank you a million times.
I would like to add my own thanks for the usual GN Force To Be Reckoned With. Your warmth and kindness, together with someone knowing that you're all willing them to get better MUST (and does) make a difference. I am so pleased that I asked for your help - and am more grateful than you'll ever know for your wonderful response.
To all of you dear Grans, thank you so much. 😘
