Sweetpeasue Thu 10-Apr-25 18:51:37

Thanks Scaredycat. I forgot that by splitting my post I was taking up the last of the BD thread. Sorry all.

Scaredycat Thu 10-Apr-25 19:19:57

Hi all
Hope I,ve done this OK🫢
HVDY- Happy Birthday Hope you are having a lovely day.Cupcakes is a great way to start the celebrations! 🎂
Had another attempt to feed cat- you’re right beggars can be choosers. I got 2 other sorts but no joy. I think everyone must feed him. Will persevere.
Enjoy all your get togethers and the rest of your day. You are still a youngster!!!!🎂🎂🎂🎂
Lucyd- that’s a long day for you.
Your hair must be lovely but I don’t know that manicure scissors are the way to go😀
The days with your GC will be tiring but it’s like riding a bike and you,ll be fine- it will give you much joy.
Doodle- yes you must have a good circle of friends - you,ve achieved so much.
DH was pleased he didn’t have to have the Op yet - he wasn’t looking forward to it!
I,m glad the hayfever is improving- it must be so uncomfortable. Is it better when the weather is cooler as it is now?
Wyllow- must be hard for you to miss out on the family closeness that you need. You deal with that very uncomplainingly.
It’s wonderful you had another walk yesterday - 40 mins is a good time to be out. Perhaps as you get more used to it you,ll do a bit longer. But it’s just great that you are getting out. I promise it will help. It was my saviour when I felt really anxious. You’re right don’t think too much just enjoy nature, people watching and the lovely fresh air and light. Wish we could all walk together.
SweetPeaSue- Oh that middle aisle in Aldi- the aisle of shame!!
No puss turned his nose up at tuna- cats are much more fussy than dogs aren’t they.
You and your DH are making the most of being together - it’s those little outings that mean such a lot isn’t it. Coffee and toast out tastes so much better doesn’t it.
Poor little doll bet she’s glad to be finished and going to her new home.
Hope DH cough clears up quickly.

Thinking of all those who we haven’t seen lately and wishing better times ahead. Love to allxx

Doodle Thu 10-Apr-25 20:15:56

HVDY many happy returns. Hope you had a lovely birthday 🎂 🥳🥳🎂🎂🎂
Hope you had a good celebration with your family. Your speckled carpet should be a good choice. We have one like that too. I bet they’ll be pleased with the cup cakes. What a nice idea.
Sweetpeasue sorry your Dh is still coughing. Lifting that carpet wouldn’t do him any good. It’s nice doing things together. That’s all Dh and I ever wanted. To be together.
Cherish every moment.,
Hope you finish your doll soon. I’m sure your sister will be pleased
I’ve been to church afternoon tea today. Lots of lovely home made cakes and good company.
Wyllow great news you got out again. That’s fantastic. I’m so pleased. Hope the weather stays good and you can continue to get out.
Scaredycat thank you for starting up another thread. We’re certainly getting through them. Good luck with the cat. Must be a picky eater.
Does your Dh not want the op or is he just not ready for it at the moment?
Hayfever is much better now. The pollen must be calming down. Still have the occasional sneezes but eyes are much better thank you.

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 10-Apr-25 21:22:44

SweetpeaSue Thank you. Your husband is always busy! Has he always been the same, or just since he retired? Fitting a stair carpet can't be an easy job. He's very handy, by the sound of it.

ScaredyCat Thank you. I'm the youngest at the day centre - the next one up is 70. Is the cat a decent size? It may be eating at other houses. You could try him with tuna or chicken, but then would you want him to move into your house? (like Jaffa did with us).

Doodle Thank you. I'm glad you had a good day. Did many go? Is it a regular thing or because it's nearly Easter?

Day centre was nice, I had a card signed by them all. It was gammon, which I don't eat, so I chose not to have lunch. Both sons and their families came after work, with lovely presents. They came at different times so didn't see each other. DH and I had dinner at our favourite local restaurant, so it was a very nice day. Hope ALL BDers sleep well later x

nanny2507 Thu 10-Apr-25 22:16:02

Good evening everyone xx

Sweetpeasue Thu 10-Apr-25 22:37:50

Doodle I do cherish every moment since DH became ill. So glad your church is so much comfort.
HVDY Shame it was gammon on the menu at Day Centre. So pleased you had such a nice day with family. So many times they can be busy.
Nanny2507 Good evening to you . How are things lately? I know you have so many worries.

Wyllow3 Fri 11-Apr-25 01:16:35

Oh well done Scardeycat! For starting us off.
Maybe you are right about the stray cat, maybe he has a few regulars…Oh, wouldnt it be nice to walk together. I shall order in a batch of special BD magic carpets.

I’m glad you got some good company today, Doodle Yes the sun helps. Get out that door to the park and more to see in the busy park.

Best belated wishes for your birthday, HVDY How lovely that the day centre gave you a card and you got family pressies later.

Good evening back, nanny2507

I just love your dolls, Sweetpeasue. Hoping DH’s cough doesn’t last long.

Just briefly popping on as it’s late and ~`I’ve not prepared for early morning cleaner. I hate getting up early I’m such a slow starter. Another walk.

Best wishes for BD’s not in today. Hoping to see you in soon

Best nights all.

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 11-Apr-25 15:41:57

Wyllow3 Thank you. Hope you managed to get up early for the cleaner. How's your day going?

Is everyone ok? It's very warm here (Nottingham) . DH and I went to a very large (2 floors) B & M, bought stuff I didn't even know we needed grin, then got some food shopping from Aldi. x

Scaredycat Fri 11-Apr-25 15:54:31

Hi all
Doodle- everything you tell us about your lovely church makes me so happy you have it in your life. Is afternoon tea a regular thing - if so bring on the cakes!! Home made cakes are so much nicer than shop ones.
Cat was in the bird house when we got up but I really do think he must have a few of us on the go or is Mr Picky. He looks well And he’s not distressed in any way - just nervous.
D H was pleased not to have to have the Op at the moment and was just happy they said it wasn’t bad enough to be done yet.
Hope you are enjoying this lovely day.
HVDY- nice to get a card at the day centre - how lovely to be the youngest there. I,m never the youngest anywhere😀
Yes the cat is a good size and has healthy looking fur.We tried tuna but no he wasn’t having any. I don’t want him to move in as we want to wait til the Autumn because of holidays. So will continue to look out for him til my friend comes back.
I,m glad you got to see both your Sons and hope you had a lovely meal with DH.
nanny2507- so nice to have you pop in. How is life treating you? We,ve missed you.
SweetPeaSue- I felt so nervous starting the new thread . I,ve done it before but was scared I,d muck it up.
I hope you are having this lovely weather too today. If we had a beach we,d be on it!!
Hope DH cough has improved and he’s taking it a bit easy today- he’s been so busy.
Wyllow- I like the sound of those magic carpets- I hate flying but if we could all meet up I,d certainly use mine!!
I,m delighted you,ve had another walk - it won’t seem such an effort when you get used to it. Is there a cafe at the park? Bit of people watching and a coffee would be good when it’s warm enough.
This evening we are going to a Quiz organised by our Surgery patients group. My DD and SiL are in our team too and some friends. We are defending champions so there’s a lot of honour at stake!! I might have to prop my eyelids up though. We could do with your brains Wyllow!!
Love to all BDs old and new. Xx

Doodle Fri 11-Apr-25 20:41:10

HVDY church afternoon tea is a regular thing once a month. It’s nice because many of the older ones get transport to come and it gets them out and gives them a chance to chat to each other.
What a lovely birthday you had. Nice to see both your sons and a nice meal out with Dh too. Glad you enjoyed it.
nanny nice to hear from you, how are things going? Are you still planning to move near to your daughter?
Sweetpeasue how has your day been? I’ve been out with my friend today. 6 years ago her husband died. We’ve had a day or remembering and sitting quietly chatting about the past and our memories. Tears but a gentle day really.
Wyllow I’m so pleased with the progress you’ve made. It’s wonderful to hear you’re going out. I know you’re tired but it is good to see you doing a bit better
Scaredycat I don’t know how I would cope without my church family. Everyone is so nice and we all get on so well. The tea is once a month. There is a lunch too but I don’t go as it’s the same time as my art class.
I met a friend on our walk today who was saying they have a resident car in their cul de sac who goes from house to house and is fed by different people different days. Apparently he decides which house to go to and sits outside the door mewing until they give in and feed him.
The quiz night sounds fun. Hope you have a good time.

Doodle Fri 11-Apr-25 20:41:42

Ellie Anne hope things are ok for you. Have you any plans for Easter?

Wyllow3 Sat 12-Apr-25 00:55:57

Caught up with you all and your news.

thinking of you all and absent BD's

I'm in quite a lot of tum pain bunged up swollen up despite extra movicol and too tired to get out today as little sleep, not good in head either..
My carer actually comes tomorrow which is usually a park walk and it's probably the last sunny day but need to take extra tum relief....let it sort itself out somehow.

Night night, and best night possible especially for the waker-uppers in the night.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 12-Apr-25 14:26:16

ScaredyCat How did the quiz go? I hope your team won.

Doodle The church afternoon tea sounds a lovely idea. I expect there are people there who wouldn't get out or see anyone otherwise.

Wyllow3 Hope your tum is easier now.

EllieAnne How are you?

Saw my friend (Son1's ex from 16 years ago) earlier and she gave me my birthday present. Lovely to sit and chat for a while. DH and I are going to Son2's for an Indian takeaway later. Hope ALL BDers have been ok today x

Scaredycat Sat 12-Apr-25 16:04:38

Hi all
Doodle- you described your day with your friend so beautifully. A gentle day is exactly what it was and how healing for you both.
That cat sounds like our visitor - I think he must have a rota!!
It’s a lovely day today so we had a walk then I cleaned a couple of kitchen wall cupboards. Oh dear many out of date obscure things so now there is space for more!! DH cut the grass - such a small patch but it looks better.
The kindness of your Church is so thoughtful and inclusive- enjoy your visit tomorrow.
Wyllow- this might be TMI but walking is very good at waking up my tummy and helps a lot. Do you take the Movicol every day - it’s better to do that even if you don’t always feel you need it. Hope it’s improved today and you could walk in more comfort.
It,ll be nice to have your carer to talk to again - I,m sure she,ll be pleased to hear about your outings.
HVDY- The Quiz was fun and we couldn’t believe it but we won again!!! There were a lot of tables including 2 with some of the doctors on!!! It raises a good amount of money for the surgery .
So nice you are friends with your Sons ex- you do miss them when there is a break up don’t you.
Hope you enjoyed your takeaway - what do you like ?
SweetPeaSue- are you having an Auntie day today? The sun is lovely here but still a chilly wind.
EllieAnne- hope your wall is done now and you don’t feel so harassed.

Hope all BDs are managing to have some bright moments today but for those who are struggling I wish for better times xx

Ellie Anne Sat 12-Apr-25 18:11:45

Scaredy-cat some of the wall is still there but I now have a very nice fence in front of it so it looks much better. I’ve been tidying up the garden for the last few days and have some empty spaces so need to go to the garden centre but I just feel we have spent such a lot recently on the house and the garden. Also been helping both sons out with money.
Trying to make myself phone dd but if she doesn’t answer I’ll feel even worse.
Doodle
There are a few church services over Easter and I will probably go to some of them but to be honest I’m not sure if I go because I really believe or because it’s an escape from my life. I do love the singing but often feel that I don’t belong.
I think our good weather is over now. It’s dull and rain is forecast.
I think of you all even if I don’t post .

Doodle Sat 12-Apr-25 18:51:59

Wyllow how many Movicol do you take a day? Do you drink a lot of fluids? Not enough water can cause a lot of tum problems? Hope you feel better and can manage your walk.
HVDY from what I remember you get on really well with your sons ex soi expect you had a lovely time chatting.
Hope you enjoy the Indian takeaway with your son.
Scaredycat you’ve done more housework in one day than I’ve done in the last month! I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to do anything.
I’ve actually been to church today too. I’ve been there for a few hours this morning cleaning the silver and helping clean the church. This afternoon my friend and I took another friend out for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. That was nice and relaxing after all the work this morning.
Congratulations on winning the quiz again. You must be a clever team.
Ellie Anne everyone belongs to the church. Any church. If anyone makes you feel unwelcome it won’t be God. Go if you can. We all have doubts. Many who go to church have doubts. My faith has increased since I lost Dh. Whether that’s me willing it to be so or whether it’s spending more time in church I don’t know.
Oh how I know that feeling of being scared to phone. If you don’t phone you can pretend that things might be ok whereas if you do phone you might find out they’re not. I’ve been like that so many times so I know exactly how you’re feeling. I hope whenever you do make contact that things are ok and she responds.
Sweetpeasue I hope you and your Dh are having a more restful weekend. Have you been out today. A nice beach walk would be lovely. Hope you’re both ok.

Sweetpeasue Sat 12-Apr-25 21:48:43

I really hope your tum gets some relief soon Wyllow It will affect you so much until you get relief. I understand your gut problems aren't easy to resolve. Hope you're better tomorrow.
EllieAnne I do hope you get to hear from your daughter soon. I know we all think of each other ,even if we're not in.

No auntie day today I'm afraid. DH is still not right coughing so much and the wheezing- but not a cold/virus..Drs again on Monday. Sorry can't address everyone but thinking of all .

Wyllow3 Sun 13-Apr-25 01:01:15

Thats a nice day, HVDY, a nice chat and takeaway to look forward to (I have noticed that you love Indian food!)

Good to hear you got out for a walk and I’m impressed by the domestics Scaredycat. Congratulations on your win again

EllieAnne thank goodness the fence is there and it’s a real well don for your garden tidying. About DD - can you do a newsy WhatsApp and say “do phone if you like”. If you enjoy the singing - you cant know how many others are “Agnostic” and go feeling as you do but go.

Thats a lot of hard work there Doodle cleaning the church but good for you. A relief to sit down for afternoon tea.

Thinking of you too, Sweetpeasue. Aw,your worries about DH xx - yes do go to the doctor or even ring 111 if the coughing really bad tomorrow, I dont think you’ve described the coughing before.

You are all right about walking/moving being important for tums. I did get to the Botanical Gardens with carer. So had an outing and chat.

Re tum - TMI alert yes movicol always once a day it keep things soft but I also need bisocodyl (dulcolax) for the “making you go”, and its a matter of how many (you re only supposed to take 1 or two but it needs more for me and getting the balance right.
Also - mood and so on plays a part, doesn’t it.

My tum swells /uncomfortable on any moderate eating or drinking so it’s a battle to drink enough water or eat a lot. (Today did bring improvement).

Wyllow3 Sun 13-Apr-25 01:02:22

Night night to all BD's and may they be as peaceful as possible, and waves to BD's not in today.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 13-Apr-25 09:41:51

ScaredyCat Great that you won the quiz! It sounds great fun and for a good cause. Yes, Son1's 1st ex and I have always been close. DH & I went to her wedding 13 years ago, and her 11 year old calls me Nanny. I had Chicken Rogan Josh last night. You've been busy. I need to sort out "that" drawer in our kitchen.

EllieAnne Glad you're getting the garden sorted out. It was causing you a lot of anxiety but I bet it's looking nice now. Do you sit in the garden?

Doodle Yes, it was lovely, thanks. Ooh, afternoon tea sounds good. DH & I have got 2 still to book.

SweetpeaSue Sorry to hear your husband isn't well. I hope you manage to get him an appointment tomorrow.

Wyllow3 Both DH and I love Indian food. Anything spicy, like Jamaican or Mexican, too. I'm so pleased that you got out again. You've been doing so well this week. It's been such lovely weather, too.

Nothing planned today - I'll try the foot spa Son2 and DIL bought and generally laze about, apart from doing some washing and ironing. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day x

Whiff Sun 13-Apr-25 16:26:57

Glad to see the Black dog thread is still going strong . 😊🌹💪

Doodle Sun 13-Apr-25 18:30:09

Sweetpeasue I’m sorry your Dh is still having problems. Yes do see the GP this can’t be right. What a worry for you both. Sending hugs and prayers.
Wyllow I think you need to try drinking more water. I know it’s hard and I don’t drink nearly enough myself. Also rasins. DH was told that by a colorectal consultant. Eat a handful of rasins a day. You could try that too. So glad you got out. Really pleased for you.
Sorry my dinners pinging. Be back later.

Scaredycat Sun 13-Apr-25 19:07:53

Hi all
EllieAnne- good to hear your garden is getting sorted now - maybe you could just get a plant a week or visit a farmers market.
Keep trying with DD- I understand your feelings but if you phone her and she doesn’t answer just leave a message to keep the contact going.
Everyone has a place on a church if they want or need it. Whether you believe or not there is a great deal of comfort to be gained from being with others in ‘Gods House’. Especially Easter Sunday which is so joyous.
Doodle - your Church must be gleaming now. You earnt your lovely afternoon with your friends and hope she enjoyed her birthday treat.
We were a bit pleased with ourselves to win as none of us are brainboxes but I think we have masses of useless facts stuffed in our heads!!
Hope you,ve had a nice day today. My DD took me to see my GD 3 in her new home and then we had brunch together. Such a nice day and so good to see her so happy. I feel very fortunate today.
SweetPeaSue- so sorry your DH is so troubled with his coughing- he must feel exhausted. Hope, the Dr can help on Monday.
Wyllow- glad to hear you went out yesterday- it really will help your tum as well. As Doodle says water is very important too - not easy for you I know but I know you’re trying very hard.
So nice for you to have a chat as you walk- was it your carer you feel the most comfortable with?
Thank you - we felt pleased that we had beaten the Doctors but
Hopefully they are better at medicine!!
HVDY- thank you- yes it was fun and a lot of money was raised.
Indian food is nice isn’t it- we like it too but prefer Chinese.
Hope the foot spa was relaxing -what a lovely pressie.
Washing and ironing don’t sound like a lazy day to me so hope you,ve had some nice chill out time too.
Whiff - lovely to see you here - hope life is treating you kindly

Love to all

Doodle Sun 13-Apr-25 19:32:47

Scaredycat how lovely to visit you GD in her new home. Always an exciting moment I’m not surprised she’s happy.
I had a lovely morning in church today very busy but lovely to chat with so many.
HvDY I’ve got a “posh” afternoon tea our son bought me for Christmas. It’s in Windsor but I’m waiting till the weathers more stable to book it. Where are you going for yours?
You’ve been so busy I think a lazy day will do you good.
Whiff lovely to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.
I’m not doing so well at the moment. This week my darling man went into hospital and it’s playing on my mind a lot. The next few weeks will be hard. Forgive me if I don’t post so much.
Take care all. Xx
