EastEnders, Nigel‘s dementia

It's a moving storyline, and the actor who plays Nigel is very good. I should know his name, but I can't remember. He's a much loved character, which adds poignancy.

Nigel is played by Paul Bradley. He also played the heart consultant Elliott Hope in Holby City. I think he's a great actor. Mind you, Steve Mcfadden is doing a fantastic job too playing Phil Mitchell in this particular storyline.

I’m struggling to watch Eastenders as watching Nigel being taken over by dementia is bringing my gran’s struggle back to me.

I too am impressed with Steve McFadden's acting. I knew Paul Bradley was good.

I volunteer with people who care for people living with dementia and the bewilderment and misunderstanding shown by some of the people involved is brilliant. I think DH is fed up of me saying 'Oh, so and so needs to come on one of our Carer
Learning courses'.

I look forward to watching it develop.

I’m struggling to watch Eastenders as watching Nigel being taken over by dementia is bringing my gran’s struggle back to me.

I am struggling as well Cateq. We lost our mum to Dementia last year. It all seemed to happen quite quickly, but seeing Nigel makes me realise how she was probably going through it during lockdown. It breaks my heart to think we didn’t know.

Eastenders ran an earlier dementia story in the early nineties. My FIL was suffering from it, and that's what made us start watching the soap.

I'm sure Emmerdale tackled a dementia storyline many years ago. I remember reading about it but l don't watch soaps.

Yes they did it was Ashley the vicar. They did it very well from what I remember.
