Welcome. This thread is in support of those who wish to share their mental health problems as they affect their daily lives, share aspects of our lives supportively and give and take support. And is a continuation of Black Dog 29.
It’s been going for some time, so this is a jump in at the deep end.
All are welcome- don’t be put off by some of us being here long term - people come and go

Wyllow3 Thu 17-Sept-26 00:19:29

This one was not just so specific but matched fears I've had in full day, and I know my biggest trigger generally is fear of abandonment, so....so I knew I needed to act,

Wyllow3 Thu 17-Sept-26 09:36:13

Morning all, another dream, this one not so bad. Feel fresher for a busy day ahead.

BTW, I did study and have been the customer of a certain amount of dream analysis, enough to believe while it is best to ignore most nasty dreams and find whatever comforts the morning light of day can bring, some are worth thinking over, and can help make things better.

I was sad to read yesterday of the asthma in your family, HVDY. Tough to deal with when it’s bad.

Yes HVDY my friend P has constant changes on her little side table. Stuck in her chair mostly, she has made the most of her artistic and poetic inclinations to make her life full of meaning, nature and the change of the seasons being one of her inspirations. She can quote whole poems off!

Yes, I will be by the sea on holiday. I am nervous, but my dear cleaner N will be asked today to help me pack so I dont forget anything. She has that kind of mind.

Dear Sweetpeasue we love you as you are, bum and all. You re under a lot of stress and it’s really hard to lose weight at such times. We crave that sweet hit and of course exercise is limited. I’m just able to be very strict, but in fact I was underweight for a time due to MH stuff so my figure has wobbly bits despite exercise, you cant stop Time, but itsnt overweight. I just so wish DH could find a better place where you both feel you now where you are, best treatments are in place, and less worries about the future.

Ah, a fellow packing panic-person, Doodle. I bet a lot of us have it, but it’s not nice at all. Around when do you go away? What you are good at is friendships. I imagine you are a warm considerate listener.

And you too, HVDY - you go for the marathon natters! 😉.

Wyllow3 Thu 17-Sept-26 09:37:37

And a warm wave to J and J - hoping your dear GD will find some kite ease in her condition soon.

JamesandJon33 Thu 17-Sept-26 12:39:32

Haven’t heard a word yet.🤞

Sweetpeasue Thu 17-Sept-26 17:03:45

Wyllow Thanks for that ( bum and all!)
Other people arent bothered about our weight, I realise. Its ourselves we need to please isnt it.
Glad your dream wasnt as bad.
The dream analysis must have been very interesting indeed. I get some that have the same repetitive things too.
I know you'll enjoy being by the sea.
JamesandJohn Crossed fingers you will hear from your granddaughter soon.

Sweetpeasue Thu 17-Sept-26 17:08:42

HVDY Its funny about swings- some children love them from a very early age and others dont take to them for much longer. My DGS was just the same as LG.
That was a great chat with your SIL yesterday.
Yes, its still DHs swollen and painful ankles.
F went back home Tuesday. Have her back tomorrow.
Hope everyone has been OK today.

Sweetpeasue Thu 17-Sept-26 17:12:49

Doodle You had a full day again yesterday. Its nice you have so many friends though not unusual as you are such a friendly person.
Aw I didnt realise you're not as organised this time round. I can be like that though too- thinking I know what I have to take then rushing around last minute.

EllieAnne Thu 17-Sept-26 18:07:00

So I was brave this afternoon and phoned the insurance company. It was ok except the person I spoke to had trouble with my accent. I have a surveyor coming on Saturday. Last time I tried to claim for something it was refused so I m quite apprehensive.
I did emphasise the old lady with a poorly husband angle which is not a lie.
We still have no results from the scan.

HowVeryDareYou2 Thu 17-Sept-26 18:54:45

Wyllow3 Bad dreams can be upsetting. I hope they can be brushed aside a bit and that you enjoy your holiday and get out for walks on the beach. Itwas hard with my sons - No.2 had Asthma and very bad eczema, and the elder one had a gluten intolerance until he was 4 - which seemed to stop, but of course, now he's coeliac. Some things are there to try us. Your friend P sounds like a gentle soul. Does she have many visitors?

SweetpeaSue Fluffball has perhaps got into a habit of crying but being rewarded with a treat. That programme "Dogs Behaving Badly" might be informative. That man is a genius with dogs and their various behaviours. I don't know what more you can do to ease your husband's ankles. Mine were swollen for a while after stopping the Amlodipine, but I can't remember them being painful.

EllieAnne Well done. Hope the surveyor does a proper assessment and gets things sorted out promptly. My Son2 is still having problems with his kitchen (from January). The men put tiles on some of the wall, but grouted it the same day! The tiles then all slipped down, and it all had to be redone. Clowns. Has your husband got a follow-up appointment? That might be when he's told the results.

Day centre was good, although I didn't like the meal - sausages (I don't like pork), lumpy mash, mushy peas. I only ate the carrots. Not to worry. x

Scaredycat Thu 17-Sept-26 19:04:21

Hi all
SweetPeaSue- I can’t believe the amount of time people have to wait to see any kind of Doctor now. No wonder you feel so frustrated and worn out battling for your DH as you do.
Fluffball is like a little Grandchild who has their Grandparents wrapped around their little finger!! It must be so hard to get cross with that dear little face.
We do 4 of each subject for photos - the pub signs were easy . We can use photos from our archives if not able to gather out to take new ones.
Doodle- are you going away this weekend on your cruise?
It’s always a bit of a panic when packing day arrives isn’t it. We put our stuff out on a bed during the week before so it’s easier to see if we,ve forgotten anything.
Our next subjects are the colour Pink,Cars and People- nice varied subjects.
It must have been nice to bump into your friend at the Hospice - it turned out a pleasant meeting for you.
HVDY- yes towns are good for all sorts of subjects for our photos.
I,m like you I have loved cats all my life and Mum and Dad always had them when I was little. All our family love cats and there have been many through the years.
Today my DD and GD3 came over for coffee. My GD has been signed off work for a while due to MH problems . We put You Tube on the big TV with a video on it for cats. Little mice running around and in and out of holes etc. Kai was entranced and got up to the screen and was looking for them underneath the television- it was very funny.
I do hope LG doesn’t have Asthma- you have a lot of experience with your family though so will be very knowledgable should it turn out to be it. Poor little girl the cough must be troublesome for her.
Wyllow- the wound inflicted by the Quaker abuse you suffered is still raw isn’t it. It’s starts to heal and then a little knock opens it up again. Those awful dreams are so hard to shake off but you have a great awareness of how to deal with them - although it doesn’t make them any less unpleasant.
Your lovely cleaner will make sure you,ve got everything for your holiday- what a lovely friend she is to you.
The sea air will help blow away your worries for a while and hope your tootsies get to walk in the waves. Maybe you could do a bit of sketching while you’re there for future paintings.
JandJ33- yn meddwl amdanoch

Love to all

Doodle Thu 17-Sept-26 21:11:54

Hvdy my son used to cough a lot. Turned out to be acid reflux although I would imagine that’s unlikely for someone Young like LG
I had my usual toasted tea cake at the hospice
Wyllow I find it hard to shake off bad dreams. Glad your day improved though
Oh Sweetpeasue sorry you didn’t get your meal. Perhaps Fluffball was whining because she wanted a place at the bar too.

Doodle Thu 17-Sept-26 21:17:58

What a nice thing to say Wyllow thank you.
I am going on holiday tomorrow morning so this will be my last post for a week. We are not having wifi on board so I won’t be able to be in touch, Hope you have a good holiday and can relax and enjoy it.
Well done Ellie Anne hope you get a positive result.
Scaredycat yes it’s tomorrow. Normally I am very organised and have everything sorted ages in advance but because I have been anxious about this trip and not sure how I’ll be i just kept putting it off. Mostly done now just make up and hair stuff in the morning,
I wonder if you could combine all three in one photo. 🤣🤣
Take care all. I’ll b thinking of you xx

Wyllow3 Thu 17-Sept-26 21:49:18

🫶 And crossing fingers indeed, JamesandJon

Gosh, thats rather a lot of Fluff, Sweetpeasue. You and DH seem to be rather a hit. F does seem to comfort him, is that right?

You did well to face the fears after last time, EllieAnne. But you have definitely done the right thing. Not just the money, but when the surveyor comes, advice. Definitely the approach to use with agencies - and it’s the truth too! My, that scan is taking a long time. Legs above heart is actually not that easy, as sitting in an armchair with legs propped up at knee level doesn’t hack it. Have you both tried icing?

Poor No2, HVDY eczema as well. Yes, it’s hard when busy to deal with coeliac and expensive too, buying from the “free from” sections. Well, P gets just about enough visitors, and cards too, and I believe from hints that she gets on fairly well with the staff and one or two of the other ladies as its low level support accommodation. Not the usual foodie standards at the day centre at all, today, was it? I suppose all that can be said it that carrots are not calories laden.

I do like those little photo club challenges Scaredycat Interesting, not too alarming. Now has your niece had her operation yet? I forgot when it was. I hope the cats and mice helped GD relax a little. She’ll need a change of scene in a relaxed way.
I like this welsh touch creeping in. I looked up Black dogs for fun. Except it turns out there are legends of a scary gwyllgi!

Gosh, tomorrow, Doodle - not exactly but about how long? I’m glad you went to the hospice today for reflecting time. I so wish for you that the holiday and quietly watching the wake of the water and the waves, and being looked after help you just a little without too many sadnesses tho they will be there.

It’s good to hear packing is not popular here. But I had a real boost today.

I just sat on the bed with SuperN (aka my cleaner/helper and said I need..erm...and here's what I have done already...whizz whizz, pack pack.

Now she says don’t you want some books? Oh yes!

"Oh where did you get that jumper from I want one".

"I'll do a list of last minute things for you" Yes please.

2 packed bags!

A super celebration of all things 2 women can do when we put our heads together. but it was over busy, but a hassle suddenly came up with home insurance to sort quickly.

In fact it was a throughly nattery day what with haircut and treat for holiday facial and...I did do enough treadmill and yoga to match the talking.

Never mind. The Quote for the roof came in very low. Yay.

I’m not going to get any help of feedback from local Quakers. Situation of the only person really organising things having too much on. I will have to find other ways of processing it all, but at least I tried.

Sometimes you have to hit your nose on a brick wall to think well no point there, shall I leave it or seek elsewhere. I expect I will find a way somehow.

I’ve come to expect not good nights as too much Stuff in brain and hope that a few days by the sea will help and actually glad I’m going alone - with a very good lap top.

Yes yes looking forward to the sea now thats nearly all done. So it’s tomorrow off and not expect any energy, then finish Saturday. But you know me, I’ll be in here.

Addict confession. 😊

Sweetpeasue Thu 17-Sept-26 21:50:21

Doodle I so hope you find things on your holiday that you can enjoy and your friend is so lovely and caring. Im sure she will understand however you feel from day to day.
I will be thinking about you and sending you a hug tonight. Xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 18-Sept-26 12:41:08

Doodle I know that acid reflux can occur in babies and children, but there would be more symptoms, and it would happen after each meal. A viral cough is much more likely to be affecting LG. Thanks, though. I hope you manage to enjoy your holiday, and that the food and entertainment will be great. I'm sure your friend will understand if you don't always feel happy.

Wyllow3 What a boon your cleaning lady friend is. Hope your holiday is relaxing and that the weather is decent.

ScaredyCat It sounds as though your cats enjoy watching little creatures - my Mr Cooper used to like those things on YouTube. Jaffa is a bit thick and doesn't bothergrin. He takes no notice of the birds and squirrels in our garden, either. Your next photography subjects sound more interesting - pink and carsand people - if you could find a person in a pink car, you'd cover all 3!

Wyllow3 Fri 18-Sept-26 17:19:11

Here we go.
Back later, I've been to a nice cafe, quiet and more restful day a after I got good news that my roofer can come as he can fit one days work in, in early November. Phew.
And we've booked a folk night for when I get back.

(Meanwhile I wrote to my psychologist as I needed to know just how to best cope with wanting to return to my little Q meeting, but the triggers there, and despair around being able to find a way through. She is a good egg and will best advise.)

Well HVDY does it mean Jaffa does not bring little dead animal gifts?

Thinking of other BD's as the day passes.

EllieAnne Fri 18-Sept-26 18:05:49

My car was in the garage today to get a sensor replaced . Had 3 lights on on the dashboard. Didn’t even get home and the lights were back on. The garage would have been shut so I can’t do anything till Monday. It’s ok to drive just very distracting and the garage is in another town. The bus service is rubbish, one an hour so I have to rely on dh for lifts.
Why is everything so complicated these days?
Dreading the surveyor coming tomorrow.

Wyllow3 Fri 18-Sept-26 18:28:29

Oh my, EllieAnne I can identify with that! Well put.
It is so complicated!

Now...the surveyor yes its hard to have someone home invasion, but if they can tell you "whats up" and maybe shell out, its better than leaving that wretched floor xxx

EllieAnne Fri 18-Sept-26 18:46:40

I just feel that there is nothing good in my life right now. Nothing to look forward to just more problems and worry about the future.

Sweetpeasue Fri 18-Sept-26 19:01:15

Wyllow Yes F can be good for us both though it does get very tiring at times.
N was an amazing help with the packing. Just what you needed when your head is full.
Glad the roofer bill wasn't too bad. Id have worried too.
Well done getting your psychologist to help with the Quaker dilemma.
Great photos!
HVDY I dont think the meal you were offered at the centre sounded very appetising either- though I quite like mushy peas.
We dont give F a treat when she whines but Im not quite sure why she does it. Perhaps she doesnt like being ignored Im not sure . She whined again today under the table in the cafe at the woodland place. We ignored( or tried to)her then after about 15mins she stopped so then ,when she was quiet ,I gave her a dog biscuit. Its not easy as she has another dog sitter for 1 day a week too.
EllieAnne Life is so comically, you're so right, and when we have worries the last straw is having practical ones on top.
Im glad youve managed to face the problem and have the surveyor coming and I do hope it all goes smoothly for you. Does your husband need to put his legs above heart too ? I must have missed that. Its such an unnatural and awkward position unless you're laid down and even then .......
Scaredycat Yes , F has such a lovable little face so you need to be firm. She will go to anyone and lick them to pieces.Shes quite needy and follows you around the house everywhere. Just wants company really.
I too was wondering if your neice has her op soon.
Doodle Hoping by the time this message goes out you are on your way .Take care of yourself.

Wyllow3 Fri 18-Sept-26 20:49:42

Yes, I understand that EllieAnne. There will be a day when there is more sun and faith in your life but it's a very hard road to tread at the moment - and for the foreseeable. Just keep posting x

Hmmm. One wonders if the other sitter gives treats on demand, Sweetpeasue. but you are right to do what you do. Reward her for being quiet and obedient. Easier said than done with an appealing face. My sis has a dog who would easily be like her, but being Doc sis had her from a puppy and I believe they even went for some dog training at the beginning. But it's her appealing face. Mind you, Bella (that's her name) loves ripping apart squeaky toys viciously 🤣

Sweetpeasue Fri 18-Sept-26 20:50:56

HVDY Just re- thought my post and if F whines when we're in a cafe I think its because she wants to join in with our food. Tried her with a chew- stick and she ignored it. She's a little diva at times. Honestly ,she just thrives off cuddles.

Scaredycat Fri 18-Sept-26 21:19:36

Hi all
Just a quickie tonight.
Really good news - my neice has at last had her Operation and so far all is fine. It must feel wonderful to be rid of that huge Cyst.
Wishing Doodle and Wyllow safe and soothing travels. You both deserve to,have the best holidays you possibly can.
SweetPeaSue - glad you got out with F- I believe she thinks she’s a tiny hairy human.
HVDY- would you believe I,found such a picture in my archives that I took on the old part of Route 66
EllieAnne - life is complicated enough without your problems
Love to allxx

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 18-Sept-26 21:27:04

Wyllow3 Good news about your roofer being able to do whatever is needed, fairly soon. Hope the Psychologist will reply with some good adv8ce. Love those photossmile. My favourite colour. In the 2 years (this month) we've had Jaffa, he's only been in with one sparrow - and he ate it all apart from the head! He's just chasing a bit of screwed-up paper aroundgrin.

EllieAnne Oh dear. Life is complicated these days, and it's very frustrating. Isn't the garage open at all tomorrow? What's concerning you about the surveyor? It'll be a step nearer to getting your kitchen sorted out. I hope it goes well.

SweetpeaSue Fluffball sounds a little madam, although cute. I expect that's led to her being a bit spoilt. You're doing the right thing by ignoring bad behaviour and rewarding the good.

My brother texted today to say he'd fallen over at home, hurt his stump (he hadn't got his leg on at the time), but is OK. Then the wife of the man I take to day centre said he'd fallen over in the garden yesterday teatime and ended up being taken to hospital in an ambulance. He's got a hip fracture and has had an operation this afternoon. After that, a friend from day centre said her husband fell in their bathroom and has cracked a rib. They say things come in threes shock

EllieAnne Fri 18-Sept-26 21:55:30

The last ttime we had a surveyor he found fault with everything and turned down the claim. I’m no good with things like this and Dh comes out with some stupid comments and cook make things Worse
