Blue Badge renewal denied!

I have had a Blue Badge for the past three years. A few months ago I was told I had to apply for renewal.
I have osteoarthritis and acute lymphoedema in my leg for which I have to wear a thick, full leg, compression stocking. My arthritis is gradually worsening and affecting my mobility. The only way to improve this is to have a knee replacement. However the lymphoedema in my leg increases the risk of severe infection which would place me in worse position.
The Blue Badge renewal has been rejected because they require further medical evidence. I have not seen my Consultant for several years because he can do nothing for me other than replace my knee. Getting an appointment will take a considerable time and is a waste of his time.
I have explained the situation to my council, that osteoarthritis is not going to improve over the three years since I first met the required criteria.
Has anyone else had a renewal rejected?

I have applied for a badge but reading this thread, doubt if I will get one.
I know of 2 ladies, both Blue Badge holders; one has no mobility problems at all but just doesn't like walking and the other has never driven a car but has a badge just in case anyone giving her a lift anywhere would like to use it. Hardly fair that these 2 have badges and GN's on here are refused when they clearly need one.

You don’t have to be able to drive to be eligible for a BB, you do always have to be in the car though where BB is displayed.

There are other reasons BB might be awarded that don’t include mobility issues (which I’ve always found a bit weird)

We were going to the supermarket - mum, me and her blue badge.
She wasn’t going to get out of the car so I didn’t park in a disabled bay. I think that’s a no no.

Goof for you 👍.
The rules make it quite clear that the BB shouldn't be used if the disabled person is remaining in the car, but it seems to be very widely disregarded, which is very annoying and inconsiderate.

OP do you have an Age Uk office near you ? My mother first bb application was declined. I’d filled in the form for her and a friend suggested I get in touch with Age Uk as they send someone round to help fill it in . Mums Attendance allowance was declined too. So this woman did both forms and was successful.
Since mums had the bb , I’ve seen , on several occasions the elderly person sitting in the car whilst the driver is shopping etc.

I don't understand why they don't have permanent badges for certain conditions as they do in France. The rigid internal occipito fixation for my husband's broken neck will never change and the same will be true for amputees.

Probably for the same reason my friends severely autistic son is assessed every year. It’s a government job creation scheme.
