Making eyelet curtains, help needed!

Ahh! thanks for all your helpful advice. Will now get on with the sewing..have made many pairs in the past but this is the first time in years and they are huge..3 widths. and a 6' drop. Fabric is cut and I have got two lengths stitched together..get off GN & get on with it!!

I make my curtains upside down i.e. when measured and cut out I sew together the number of widths needed and then do the hems - then pin in the linings and do the sides - got fed up with the linings showing at the sides even when a good overlap of top fabric there so now stitch all through as well and then I finish with attaching the tape and as suggested I catch the lining in with the bottom of the tape.
I have made a number of curtains with the eyelet tape and had no problems at all unless the main fabric is very thick ( made chenille type ones for cold dining room windows). There is a knack for pushing on the decorative ring at the front and I use sharp pointed embroidery scissors for cutting out the fabric from the rings.
If you use the tape from Dunelm it has special plastic bits on the back which you link together and this ensures the pleats are always even and the curtains hang beautifully.

I've always machined it in with the heading tape, just the bottom seam of the tape. At the top of the tape you'll probably have a hem fold of the curtain fabric. That can also be in the same seam as the tape.
