can anyone help? I splashed fat down the front of my nice cotton trousers. How do I get the stain out?

They'll come clean in the washing machine, won't they?

Dampen the fabric. Squeeze neat Fairy liquid onto the grease. Rub in with a nail brush. Chuck in washing machine on usual cycle.

That usually works, especially if they will stand a hot wash. I do this treatment frequently on DH's shirts. He doesn't wear an apron when cooking, but should. [Idea for next xmas present].

I agree with Bags a tactic I frequently employ on lots of marks and works most times.

De-Solv-It stain remover spray is very good for grease stains.

I agree with Bags I have used that method for yrs and it usually works.

The old methods are the best. My grandmother had a block of Fairy soap that she would use for white shirt collars and cuffs before going in the tub of hot water. They always came out snow white.

Yep. I always use the Fairy Liquid method, because it always works.

Fuller's earth - brilliant. Just put a bit of the powder on (a special absorbent powdered clay) and leave overnight, brush off - done. No spoiling the fabric or dye by rubbing.

Another vote for the Fairy method.

My mother always had a bar of sunlight soap at the ready for the collars and cuffs and when she boiled the washing per auto attic days she always a Reckitts blue bag on the go. Once my aunt gave her hair a blue rinse using a bag as she forgot to buy the correct thing at the chemist - looked OK.
Any ideas for blood marks? Did the fairy dose before putting white sheets in the very hot wash and noticed a couple of marks (on both sheets) when I was pegging them out.

Should have been pre auto days!
