jings the following happened to me, when I was a nanny/housekeeper [long ago!] The family were on holiday. I decided to put a thick blanket on their mahogany table and proceeded to iron the laundry [I wanted to watch a play on tele'] When I removed the blanket
it had silvery marks that had been caused by the damp penetrating the surface of the table. I was terribly upset. Rang my father and, in floods of tears,
asked his advice. He mentioned something like 'Ringaway' so I bought several tubes of the stuff from the local ironmonger. I had to work a little of the "stuff" into the table OVER and OVER again with a soft cloth. My arms ached like crazy. Several attempts later, the marks lifted. The lady for whom I worked [and who owned the table] had a hairdressing business. A week or so after the family returned, to a spotless home, she came home one evening and casually mentioned that a client had reported that I had worked my fingers to the bone restoring the damaged table top. She hugged me and said...it's only a table...
