Great advice! I can now look at the dust which surrounds me, beautifully illuminated by the sun and do what I blooming well want grin

Great stuff. We have been in flat for 2 months. Before that DH had to have shirts for work and we paid someone to iron. Last 2 months I have only got the ironing board out once! Quite an achievement i feel.

Thank you for reminding me of that poem .I heard it years ago and thought how apt is was. I don't think it is denigrating housework Petra just putting it low on the list of priorities. There is so much else in life that is more worthwhile.

Lovely.... I shall leave dusting for another day!

I do all those things except painting a picture or climing a mountain and still dust. Why do some of you find find it demeaning to like having a nice clean tidy home. I have a very full life, lots of friends, travel a lot.

Dust if you must.
But wouldn’t it be better,
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed?
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must.
But there is not much time
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear, and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must.
But the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come round again.

Dust if you must.
But bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go, and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust!
